Dominican, Venezuelan arrested in St Lucia cocaine bust

This is not the actual cocaine seized

A Dominican and a Venezuelan have been arrested by the St Lucia police following a drug bust in that island’s territorial waters.

The names of the men have not been released.

According to the police in St. Lucia, officers attached to the Marine Unit intercepted a vessel three nautical miles off Pigeon Island, Gros Islet, at about 2:25 pm on Wednesday.

The vessel, named Mari Posa, was boarded and searched and 75 kilos of cocaine were discovered in a hidden compartment.

The Dominican and Venezuelan, who were on board, were arrested and taken into custody for drug-related offences.

Charges are expected to be laid against them at a later date, the police said.

do you all really believe the world governments can’t stop drugs.well you all sleeping drugs is their best friend.they wipe out other things bigger than drugs but not drugs.drugs makes the paper spin the world,it will never stop.i don’t support drugs but the world leaders make it our problem, not us who have no control over world economics.governments control the water and say which drugs to pass and which drugs to hold.

  2. November 8, 2013

Hello and good afternoon my people. First I want to say that I don’t care about the guy because he made his bed so he must sleep in it. How many times we have to read about those criminals engaging in this drug trade. Well his drugs didn’t make it to Dominica to poison our citizens and we don’t produce this drug in Dominica therefore we need an honest debate as to how our people have access to this drug. Cargo coming into Dominica from Venezuela must be properly inspected and scrutinized to curtail this type activity.

i really find some Dominicans are way to low minded, it’s obvious if the lil salary we are getting can’t reach our needs we will do other wise.every last person has something doing on the side so they could meet their needs though it’s drugs, prostitution, open illegal buisnesses, faudry one way or the other we don’t respect the laws……..drugs isn’t a crime it’s a way of income, we Dominicans need to open our eyes cause the leaders of our country we keep placing crowns on their heads are big time drug dealers that’s why half of the drug dealers are protected.our country don’t have laws so i don’t see the force about drugs SMFH,people kill and walks out free or after limited jail once you kill you’re suppose to be sentenced to life but no they’re out after x amount of years IT’S ASHAME,you’re held with a gun or drugs you are penalized. WTF Dominicans need to wake the up

why do you people sit back and make statements that you have no proof off. if you know that there is a leader benifiting from drug money is it not your responsibility as a Citizen to report them seeing you have proof. i dont support drug dealing and crime i belive those involved in such should be sentenced to at least 25 to life . but we must be careful not to accuse people falsly. the bank gives loans to persons that qualify and so the ones you are accusing may have taken a loan to build his or her home .so chose wisely your words when you chose to comment.

When will they ever learn? They should know that, in this era, governments and police authorities have escalated their surveillance of illegal drug activities. Yet they take chances and on their good name and freedom.
They give Dominica and especially the law-abiding nationals a bad name and one of distrust. This is why Dominicans will be scrutinized and their luggage searched whenever they travel out of the country.
Blame it on them who are weak of spirit and who allowed themselves to be enticed to commit this crime for payment, thinking they will not be caught and get rich.
Crime does not pay! In the end, somehow they will be caught. If the earthly Law does not catch them, let it be known that God already caught them. They will not escape. He does not encourage and condone lawlessness and illegal activities. No matter what the circumstances of life, they are obligated to obey the Law. They will pay for and bear the consequences of their actions.

It would be interesting to hear the opinion of those who give the comment a thumbs down. Are they suggesting that there are jobs for everyone? Or is it that people should stay hungry if they don’t have? Because it’s the same the world over, poverty breeds crime and even if you don’t agree with it ignoring it is not doing anything to help.

Are you a child/teenager or an adult? Some of you have the nerve to access this Website and make such foolish and disparaging comments. It is obvious that you who lack patriotism uphold lawlessness. You never have anything good, kind, educational and encouraging to state that others could enjoy reading and emulate, the latter, especially where children/youths are also concerned. You are no hero and by far.
You who have depicted that you are not on the side of the Law, are not a Law-abiding national and not encouraging it, should be investigated and jailed for your comment. You must be one of them. This is why, with types as you and your comment, crimes will not be eradicated in Dominica. Otherwise you would not have made that comment or used this name.
Those who are worthy of being jailed are the ones who accuse others of corruptness. You are a disgrace, by no means different and are encouraging antagonism in the land and among nationals. You should be ashamed of yourself. Live a godly, loving life and you will be happy, able to generate same to others with peace and harmony.
Our patient God will take care of you and your words as imbedded in your heart and soul, in time, sooner than you expect.

Your mind is corrupt and unable to grasp sensible words and statements. Too often many of you misinterpret words to suit your warped mentality thereby putting words and their meanings where they do not belong and insulting the originators of those statements.
When will you learn to comprehend sensible statements and have respect for those who make them? Those words were never meant to be, never to be used and compared with those who live lawlessly, who conduct illegal activities as trafficking in these drugs.
I have previously stated you should change your name. You have a godly name or gave yourself this name which, based on your words, you do not deserve.

Money is not all. It could be the root of all evils, leading souls to Satan’s Hell, his cauldron of everlasting fires where they will burn and burn forever.
Those who traffic in it will never learn that they are primarily those who will be caught, imprisoned and have a criminal record for life. God is taking note of the primary perpetrators who encourage them and who financially benefit more from their actions. They risk the lives of their vulnerable and foolish victims. Their day is coming. For some who predeceased us, it has already come. Gone to their eternal judgment where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Why can’t Charlo, Petter and skerrit hire some bus drivers($10,000 ea) over the country along with some snippers and citizens to go to every nook and cranny to hunt down these hard drug traders. Do you have any common sense? Do you know the Law? People have rights to their privacy. The government cannot simply go into their homes, without a reason and without a warrant. Furthermore, have you not read on DNO that the police have caught some of them even while patrolling? The government and the police cannot be everywhere. This is why there are citizens/ nationals as you to assist them in whatever manner. You have an obligation to fulfill.
When last you prayed for the government, your country, nationals, criminals and a decrease of criminal activities including yourself and your family? Try it sometime and soon enough. Prayers will help.

    • Sick and Tired
      November 8, 2013

I’m sick and tired of Dominicans who like to blame the government for the inability of parents to instill proper values in their children or the neglect of parents to raise their children with respect, and integrity.
How can you expect the Government to raise people’s children? The ministers have their own children to raise, or some of them have raised their children and did a very good job at it.

So stop condemning the govt for the mistakes of parents … or for your mistakes and go take care of your families!

This occurs in every country throughout the world and democratic ones at that. Criminals have no respect and no morals. It is like they have no boundaries where to conduct their illegal activities. When caught, the Law should deal with them appropriately and harshly. Only then they may learn a good lesson and for life. Only then will illegal drug activities cease.

Some people, the critics as you are of the opinion that you always have the correct answers and can rectify everything.
Well, let me inform you. Some of us do know that Dominicans of today, especially the poor are in a better position than their ancestors. The progress which has been made in Dominica is none to be compared with, let us say in comparison to 25 years ago. Learn to appreciate what you have and what you get for the betterment of Dominica.
Cease being ungrateful. God detests those who lack appreciation and gratitude. You are the ones who place a curse on Dominica and assume there is no progress.
Open your eyes, heart and mind to all what Dominican residents enjoy today which they never previously enjoyed and never hoped to enjoy. In fact, then, they did not give it a thought. They were satisfied with what they had and lived a happy and peaceful life with few crimes. Injuries with weapons were few and not as bad as today. Murders were practically non-existent in those days.
Some of you have too much today which is why you act so unlovingly, selfishly and unbecomingly as you depict on this Website for all to read. It is sad that you fail to observe and know better which is the type of mind you have conditioned yourself to possess.    For this you will be punished.
