Honestly, what is the government doing about the growing number of crimes in Dominica. When will we rise up and say enough is enough? Once upon a time, a man would beat up another if they hurt our elderly. #thuglivesdontmatter

\”DNO is seeking an official report from the police on this incident.\”

Admin, what official report is needed?

All of us from Wesley knows the woman\’s name, as I stated in my submission which you did not print. The fact that a rape occurred, the woman was so badly ravaged that she required surgery, it is no secrete. As far as I am concerned there are people in Wesley who may know the identity of the rapists; now that name I will not mention: simply because that information might be based on simply speculation.

Nevertheless, to reject, or omit my comments simply because I mentioned the lady name is absolutely un-call-for. Assuming you get a police report, which must include her name, what are you going to do?

Will you omit the lady\’s name which everybody in Wesley knows. She could be my mother, she was a teacher long before I entered kindergarten!

  5. December 16, 2015

I hope the ladies body especially her vagina was swabbed before going into surgery..this evil person , satan’s ,son father ,brother or cousin should be caught,a file needs to be kept in order to register these sex offenders, they should not be walking on the streets if it is possible to change the law to give them the death penalty well do it..man sorry but never let that happen to my mother ,sister or nieces because i will only need help from my family to catch him for me and i will take a nasty pleasure to make minced meat with these type of shit heads..so help me jah..i am gutted how can a human being do such a thing? I am wishing the best of luck to catch that dog.

The sadness I feel is overwhelming!!! This is just so horrific to violate a woman, farless for an elderly woman who cannot even try to defend herself. We need to pray for sense to prevail in our people’s hearts. This is truly heartbreaking. We need to stand up for legislation to be urgent and swift in the House of Parliament. So many more important laws and bills we need to amend, than the ones that have been recently passed at the House of Assembly. Those in authority, wake up and deal with this vicious crimes against our people. I guess when it comes to your homes, then you will realize the need for urgent attention. This is sickening. Our children and elderly are so vulnerable and under attack!!!

  7. December 16, 2015

This demon possessed man  is laughing at your system because Dominican law does not provide for the punishment he deserves.

What are your options? I am serious about this because without drastic measures the situation in Dominica is only going to get worse. Now the elderly are fair game. Where can it go from here :?: If the choice of punishment was tossed to the general population today my guess is very few Dominicans would not be in favor of whipping, castration, and execution spread out over maybe three days.

I can hear somebody asking what is the use of castrating him if he is going to die the nest day :?: Let me answer that. The purpose is not to rehabilitate. The purpose is to punish. It should be publicized in a way that (if possible) assures a crime like this will never be committed again in Dominica.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

This exact thing happened over 10 years ago, and the way this woman was raped it’s the same way the previous woman (who is now deceased) was rapped. The perpertrator was imprisoned for some time, and is now out. Police officers, I’m appealing to you, please do sperm test etc because this seems very fishy. The person may be running, but can’t hide! OMG this hurts me to the very core! Everyone in the Village is praying and the entire Island is crying out, that person will be found sooner than we think. God does not sleep!!!!!

The treatment of women as mere objects of pleasure is offensive, derogatory, antiquated, has no place in a civilized society and is indicative of the general lack of respect now pervading our country. Upon the shoulders of those who hold positions of power, prestige and publicity, there rests an onerous responsibility to adhere to the highest standards of moral and civilized conduct.
    HOTEP!

  10. December 16, 2015

This is absolutely awful beyond comprehension. To commit such a crime against an 87 year old lady is despicable, atrocious and purely evil! It’s just as bad, if not worse, than a 42 year old man sexually abusing an 8 year old baby girl. What the hell is wrong with our Dominican men???? My God! The poor lady had to undergo surgery for Christ’s sake. Should the man who did this sit in prison eating and drinking, laughing and exercising when he is caught? If anyone believes that this man should be put to death vote thumbs up. If you believe he deserves a “second chance” vote thumbs down. Thank you.

I’m reading the comments on here and I’m very disturbed.

Some persons talking about ‘so much spanish it have’ and ‘young girls giving free coffee’….

DNO, may I just share with your readers that Rape is not a sexual crime, but a crime of power and hate. Rapists don’t rape because they’re ‘feeling horny’ (in local parlance). I doubt very much that the perpetrator was horny.
No, this crime was perpertrated on this poor old lady because he had deep-rooted psychological issues. The granny just happened to be in his way.

    • Strong woman of Wesley.

I am shocked that you have the nerve to say she was in his way, I grew up in Wesley and know this warm and kind hearted lady, he broke into her house and violated her an you’re saying she was in his way, shame on you, this coward will answer to GOD because vegance belongs to GOD not man, she’s a mother to all of us and we’re hurting with her family.

      December 17, 2015

Rape is not a sexual crime? What type of psychologist are you? It is a crime of power and hate? If I felt I have power over people and hate them, I would not rape them. Get off with your nonsense.
You mean to state that the granny happened to be in his presence, near him and he happened to see the granny and decided to rape her.
He saw the woman and he felt a sexual desire. He had to feel horny to do this to the woman. Otherwise, how could he rape her? People who do not feel horny do not waste their time to have sex much more to rape a person. They probably would only assault – touch the person and run away for that matter.
The devil is in that man. Shame on him for doing this to an 87 year-old woman who could be his mother or grandmother. The man is possessed.
There is severe punishment for those who abuse the elderly and children – minors. I hope he gets caught and is thrown into prison for life since capital punishment is somewhat abolished. Too bad.

He must be possessed by the devil to do something like that to her. It is a shock for her which could have killed her. It will leave a lasting effect on her.

  25. December 15, 2015

The only hope for your nation and my own is a revival of Biblical morals and values. This must be accompanied by the clear preaching of the gospel which has the power to renew the human heart when it is believed.

God’s New Testament code of conduct for sexual behavior must be taught …

by the parents in the homes, by the teachers in the schools, and by the pastors in the churches.

    It is found in Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9,10, Galatians 5: 19-21, Ephesians 5:1-7,
    and 1 Timothy 1:9,10.

However, what we are seeing are not necessarily crimes committed because the perpetrators don’t know better. These are criminal acts that reflect a total lack of that respect one should have for womanhood, childhood, and the elderly. One would think a young person who grew up in a God fearing family would not be leaving home without a strong sense of these things since they are the very principles of civilization itself.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

This is very, very disturbing! You mean to tell me this sick person finds that it is the best thing to rape an elder? You have really reaped curse unto yourself brother. Who in their right frame of mind would perform such a heinous act? That person really has some mental issues that need immediate attention.
Our elders are to be loved, respected, assisted, cherished, etc,. They are the ones who have paved the way for us in the society. When I was growing up, we could not disrespect the elders. They would give us advice and counsel and wanted the best for us.
Well, well, well, what is our island turning to? I believe that there is too much corruption going on and the government is not doing enough to address these situations on the island. Laws should be more enforced against such crimes and the government should really assist those who are unemployed instead of spending all that money traveling here and there to sell passports and no investment is taking place…

If you really need an answer to your question, I will tell what kind of person will commit that heinous act.

That individual is fashioned like a “human being” but he is not human. And yes! There are too many of those wandering all over the world today.

A human being is the species with a “mind and conscience” which has to work together for the production of Life in attitude and conducts.

Those like that rapist are “human fashioned” but they have no conscience, which leaves their mind in its carnal condition–untrained and undisciplined–their natural or human senses has complete control of what they think, speak, and do–all is for the gratification of self–fleshly hunger.

That person who did that disgusting act, simply responded to the demand of his flesh; his conscience is dead, his mind is carnal–he is an enemy of the Holy God of Love but a friend of that evil and wicked god of the world–he will have his rewards in time.

Sure let them vent, morning, noon and night all the bad-tempered anger and animosity. Let others listen to it morning noon and night. Let some people keep imposing their nasty personalities on the whole nation.
After a while, when the listeners cannot get hold of the people against whom the venting is taking place, they take it out on anyone in their path.

And guess what? They will have no idea who is related to whom, nor who is green red or blue. Bullets, stones, blocked roads and other vehicles of violence will be out of control and it is anyone’s guess who will come in the path.

I usually try not to be a prophet of doom and gloom but I just do not see how anything else can result from what is going on in this place. Can’t we chastise wrong-doing without going on a trip of hate and destruction? Can someone answer?

    Sexual crimes against children :!:

Sexual crimes against the elderly :!:

From one extreme to the other this is appalling.

This case seems to have included another crime; that of unlawfully entering a dwelling whatever you call it in Dominica.

People are quick to criticize the police when it is thought they did not do their job. Not enough appreciation is shown when they move quickly and do it right. Everybody on the nature island should be saying THANK YOU for what looks like a display of true professionalism so far. Now we would like DNO to tell us the perpetrator has been arrested.

This is every bit as serious as the rape of a young child. Let the justice who tries the case (if it gets to court) treat it that way. I expect the citizens of Dominica want him (or her) to send out another strong message to the nation that this will not be tolerated any more than the sexual abuse of a child would be.
This calls for the maximum penalty.

        December 17, 2015

Cameron needs to pray to God to cleanse his/her heart of all hatred and must also worship Him with sincerity of heart.
I do not see Dominica in itself as being doomed. What could occur is that the evil attitude of people in words and actions could place a curse on themselves and on their country. This is, if there is more evil than good; if evil prevails. However, people could place a curse on themselves because of their evil attitude. There is a difference here.
We do not generalize for it is ignorance to do so. Too many do so and are also negative.
Through God, with Him and in Him, He can do all things and change the hearts of some people but fervent prayers and good works are necessary.
God knows the inner core of everyone’s heart. He cannot be deceived.
For now we are our own masters. Whatever we do and say could either save us or condemn us; likewise assisting us to live a relatively happy and peaceful life.
God rewards the good and punishes the wicked.
