Burglary suspects Francis Phillip, Daryl Humphrey and Kent Colaire have been charged with the May 15th burglary of the Muslims store – Universal Elegance Ltd in the capital city Roseau.
The three Fond Cole residents appeared before Magistrate Candia George after allegedly stealing EC $338,055.00 worth of electronics and jewelry from the store.
Laptops, Nintendos, gold rings, gold chains, and gold wristlets were some of the items allegedly stolen by the three.
Police inspector Claude Weekes objected to bail for the men, explaining to the court that only about $50,000.00 worth of items had been recovered so far.
Bail was denied – all three are expected to return to court on 10th December, 2012.
Two other individuals – Cathy Thomas and Christophe Jno Baptiste have also been charged for handling stolen goods in the same matter.
The court heard that the couple was arrested while trying to leave the island last week with $38, 695.00 worth of jewelry.
Thomas was released on $15, 000 bail, mainly because she suffers from a serious medical condition.
Jno Baptiste remains in custody.
