Kent Colaire, of Fond Cole, has pleaded guilty to “receiving stolen goods”  on November 14, belonging to Spring Field Trading amounting to $EC10,000.

According to court reports, the police, acting on a “tip off”, went to the home of Colaire armed with a search warrant, after a report was made by Spring Field Trading that its warehouse in Belfast was broken into and a number of items, including five Ipads and chargers, were stolen.

The stolen items were found and recovered from under the house where Colaire lives.

He was asked to give an account for the stolen items but said he knew nothing about them and he was arrested and taken into police custody.

While in the cell, Colaire had an apparent change of heart and he called the police saying he had something to tell them.

He said he was at his home when Francis Phillip called him saying they had to go and pick up Daryl Humphrey.

He said Phillip had a blue bag which he asked Colaire to secure for him.

He said he checked the contents, took them out and threw away the bag while securing the Ipads underneath his brother’s house.

Colaire told the police that he was wrong for taking the items from Phillip.

He was fined EC$1,400.00 to be paid by March 31, 2014  or in default six months in jail.

Meantime Humphrey and Phillip, also of Fond Cole, have been jointly charged for burglary of the same warehouse.

Court documents revealed that they stole Ipads, cash and a lap top with a total value of EC$22,977.

They were not required to plea since the matter is an indictable offense and it is set for March 2014.

Both men are now on remand at the State prison.

The two are on bail for a robbery at the Muslim Store last year.

@ 100% Dominican: I guess if you, your son or daughter doesn’t have a job you will recommend that they go and steal! Just because you want to say something bad about Prime Minister Skerritt, you would say anything that you feel like. Go ahead – then don’t be saying that there isn’t democracy or freedom of speach in Dominica. How many Haitians and Spanish you hear going to jail or being arrested for stealing. There are too many lazy people around and with people like you making them think it is ok to steal, that does not help them anyway. you are helping to destroy the youth just because of your hatred for PM Skerritt.

When you steal such items do you not expect that you will be caught? To make it worst you were on bail? Double sentence for them.
As for the one who hid them knowing they were stolen, this is aiding and abetting.
