Wherever the crime has to take place it will there is no where special for it. Dominica has now turn like every where else around the world it is no longer a safe haven, criminals are being deported back there after they have served time in prison and continues with the samething. On the other hand these criminals are home grown when they see these things on television they copy it out so do not be surprise when such things occurred.

It was nighttime, a bit late to go to an ATM alone. Someone was watching her. Thieves will lurk around hoping to steal from someone. I hope the Police will warn the public.
Lady, I am sorry this occurred to you. I imagine how shocked and frightened you were then and, your disappointment and anger of losing your money..
Thief, money stolen does not last. It will disappear like lightning flashes and as a bag with holes. Shame on you to threaten the lady and steal her money. Do you not know that God knew your evil intention, that he saw you, knows where you reside and how you spent the money? Didn’t give it a thought? Your punishment will be forthcoming for, “Thou Shalt Not Steal.” If the lady is poor, your punishment will be more severe.
I wonder if it is someone who knew she was going to the ATM and followed her? I hope the thief will be caught. If someone knows the person, please inform the Police or Crime Stoppers incognito.

And please ladies do not go to the ATM at that time. Its not safe

These incidents are more frequent than people want to imagine. Stay away from the ATM;s. Go inside of the banks and be discreet. Criminal action is only increasing with the level of poverty rising.

Unfortunately, they could still do it outside the bank. It has been done in the past. They are brazen and appear desperate.
Pertaining to “increasing level of poverty,” I disagree with you. There is no excuse. There are people who are unemployed and poor who will not resort to criminal activities. Call a thief, a thief. Some are habitual thieves. It is ingrained in them. They have no morals to do this to their fellow-people.
Furthermore, they receive money from the government. I am certain those who are in need will receive some funds. They are not satisfied with what they have/get. Some people steal to feed their drug habits and to purchase liquor. It happens in Canada. They very seldom steal for food, unless stealing is a habit. No matter what, stealing is a crime/sin. If caught they are liable to be imprisoned.

:?: Everyone should be and feel free to walk the streets at any time and to also carry on with their business,in this case, withdraw money. But we can’t negate the fact that there are criminals looking out to prey on people who carry on their business; therefore we should be mindful of that and be cautious not to carry on with business of withdrawal of money from ATMs at certain times of the night. The criminal once caught, should be dealt with severely!

Why is the police reporting this so late? They should have alerted people as soon as the information reached them. Lousy work as usual by the police. Shame on them.

It may not be the police. It obviously cannot be released if the police is not notified. Probably she did not want to notify the police. She either had second thoughts to notify the police or someone urged her to do so. My speculation.
You should know what it is like. Some people do hesitate to inform the police. Another reason, they may not want others to hear what occurred to them.
Consider too she must have been in shocked; was traumatized and could not speak of it, the poor lady. What happened to her is sad. Some people could be heartless. I hope this thief will be caught. He may do the same to someone else and get caught. Time and patience!

If it is dark, isolated with no one around it is an invitation for thieves. They do not care, whether it is day or night but worst yet at night.
New technology produced more thieves and big-time ones. If they are not caught, God knows them. Their names are in the Book of Damnation for crimes. They placed it there. One day they will pay for their crimes if they do not stop stealing and repent.
