Mark Anthony Gibson, a repeat offender, has been sentenced to serve four months in prison for slapping a female ACS Gas Station Attendant on the buttocks while she was on duty.
“That bottom is mine,” were the words Gibson told the complainant, after she asked him why he committed the assault.
This is according to the facts of his case, which were presented by police prosecutor Claude Weekes before Magistrate Candia George today. Gibson pleaded guilty to his charge of battery.
The incident, according to Weekes, occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on November 26.
When approached on the matter, Gibson told police that he only slapped the complainant on the hand.
“She’s my friend,” he told the court asking for leniency. He pleaded with the magistrate to impose a fine as opposed to a custodial sentence, stating that he had just gotten a job at Solid Waste and that his birthday was coming up.
“Well you will be spending your birthday in your favourite place,” Magistrate George said in reply.
“I believe the lady more than I believe you. Learn to keep your hands to your side,” she also told him.
She initially sentenced Gibson to two months imprisonment but after an unruly uproar while he was leaving the courtroom, it was increased to four months.
“When the court passes a sentence, you behave yourself,” the magistrate blurted, visibly annoyed by Gibson.
Gibson began sobbing and continued arguing. He was restrained by court security and taken outside the courtroom.
“What kinda thing is that nuh boy? I doe do nothing man,” he said exiting the court.

Well, sentence was passes already and his dinner is maybe being prepared at this moment so it’s much too late but yes, as much as he’s an offender,he to has rights. i am not saying he was right to do what he did but it was not just that. Mark Anthony Gibson, Alias “Seye” is a friendly nuisance sometimes very rude BUT i have seen Seye and that young lady who reported him making joke all the time. i have seen him touch her hand, the usually laugh together. imagine one of those days he even bought two yohurts by ACS and brought her one, yes… she accepted it so i’d assume they’re friends. what i suspect happened is that in talking, they were having their usual laugh and he was going to give his usual tap on the arm but she was turning to go to work at the same time so his hand happened to slap he butt. I meah what ever happened i don”t give him the right but it could happen to any male innocently…. so… maybe that’s the case but is SEYE!! Nevertheless, an offence is an offence but we are not always certain of the circumstances surrounding them so we don’t always have to rejoice.So many young fellas in town bursting pple chain in the necks and taking off, grabbing purses, blackberry cellphones, bags etc, etc and nothing much is happening…. they should be getting these sentences and more. let’s be real here.

Wherever they reside, some of them could be rude, disrespectful and scandalous. This is another reason why the Canadian government of all legislated that, if reported, they will be charged for “improper touching” without the consent of the women. The Canadian Human Rights Commission also handles this case; also in the work force.

Why do we always rejoice when someone stumbles or falls? The majority of the comments go lol or hehehe !! This guy is a repeat offender but this assault charge was a minor infraction although it boarders on a possible sexual assault. But it could have been a friendly smack on the butt in public, hence, a lesser penalty. In the USA a smack on the butt is a friendly gesture, providing you know the person, while touching the thigh is sexual assault.
In July the same magistrate charged the Soufriere guy $800.00 or 2 months in jail for giving another guy a black eye. The guy could have lost his eyesight. That same month she charged another guy in Virgin Lane $1000.00 or 4 months in jail for a burst head which could result in brain damage. Both guys pleaded guilty but their cases were way more serious. Jail will not help the butt smacker. These guys need a rehabilitation program that includes work and skills training, otherwise they will mistakenly contemplate murder to cover up their crimes. I agree that he should pay for his crime but no judge should sentence out of anger. The defendant lost his cool and the judge loses hers too!! WTF!!!

I deserve the wrath and anger directed at me if I give the impression that “the young punks” should not respect women. Everybody seem to jump on one sentence. I said that he deserves punishment since his crime boarders on sexual assault. I was concerned about the severity of the punishment in relation to other crimes and we are free to disagree on that.
