Good Hope man faces murder charge

Police have charged 38-year-old Ray Florent with murder following a stabbing incident in San Sauveur which took the life of Eddie Lewis.
Florent, of Good Hope, appeared before a Roseau magistrate on Monday and was remanded in custody.
Preliminary inquiry into the matter is set for February 20, 2013.
Lewis, from Petite Soufriere, died as result of a stab wound sustained in his lower abdomen during an altercation with Florent last Friday, the police said.

It is mind boggling to read these headlines, however, the judicial system has failed. It does not serve as a deterrent to crimes, the leniency has contributed to the increase in crimes. There are too many getting away with henious crimes, while others are being punished severely for petty crimes, such as stealing a piece of cheese. The young child is raped, the perpetrator is exonerated, a man kills, gets away. I cry for my people. Sad.
people that was there say just what happen.To many times the dead is right. I was not there but am hearing diffrent talks.
How did Ray even get involved when the fight did not start with him in the first place. the problem started the dead man ask another man for his money for two speakers he sold to him and he refused to pay him and Ray decided the dead man is not fighting with his friend came and pull out a knife and stabbed the young man. Thats so sad young people must stop that non sense behavior

What goes round come around. Time for bail. Self defence. Every dominican should own a couple guns, legal or illegal to protect yourself. Things are already out of hand. Bubbles had no problem with his illegal weapon. We were indirectly pmadvised to disregard the law and the constitution.

The way it is now in D/ca these days is Support the new DLP, commit a crime, go tell your DLP Pal Rep that you are Labour and as such you should not be prosecuted.
It was never like that under P.J labour, Freedom or even UWP. But it seems that the new level is all about preserving the vote at any cost.
My people of Dominica, when will you all learn that the Rule of Law is the basis for any free society to develop.

No punishment for you.You’ll soon roam the streets of San Sauveur.I that self-defense we have here.But i know,what we tolerate today,will be what we have to deal with tomorrow.Wake up Dominica..we have laws that needs reviewing.Tighten the grip on that murder thing.Put a stop now.
I hope that he will remain behind bars until his case call. reason for saying that is due to all the comments of last week saying that the murdered guy killed and was out, so he deserve what he got, and all those saying, quote and quote what goes around comes around,because if that is the case don’t forget that the guy he killed also have family, and I do not want to see that cycle continue

i already sence that the only crime that is not going to pay is the man that had the child hostage for all those weeks .and the only reason they going to keep him bhind bars is because they want to protect him from the public.ALL THE CRIMINALS SHOULD WALK WITH A SIGN THAT READS ,DONT MESS WITH BECAUSE I WILL KILL YOU…..OUR COUNTRY NEEDS SOME SERIOUS INTERVENTION.SMH
It can never b self defence wen the only one wit the knife is the one the did the killing back didnt have weapon.
