Grand Bay resident shot and killed in St. John

Tiny Jah Jarvis

A Dominican was shot and killed in the US Virgin Island of St. John on Friday.

He has been identified as 31-year-old Tiny Jah Jarvis of Grand Bay.

Jarvis’ bullet riddled body was found around 10:30 pm Friday after residents of Gifft Hill Road on the island reported hearing gunshots to the police.

Emergency medical technicians could find no signs of life upon arrival, according to  police reports.

Police have since taken 23-year-old Ralph Titre into custody in connection with the crime. He surrendered to police on Saturday.

Titre has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, possession of a firearms during the commission of a crime of violence, and reckless endangerment.

The last homicide on St. John took place in January 2009.

Tiny Jah was seen as his father’s right hand in the construction industry in St.John and was making mega dollars in constructing roofs. Very versatile youth who repaired bikes, DJ, on the side and was loved by virtually all the people of St. John. It was savage act committed by a renowned criminal on a man in the presence of his six year old son. We all know you were never a tete bwilay from Grand Bay but a young of great character. Our condolences and thoughts in prayer to Big and family. We share this moment of sadness and mourning with you all. R.I.P.!

Not all the young Dominicans that are in thr USVI are there looking trouble some of them are there making things happen for them and their family .its unfortunate that he had to die but the hand of the other guy .

    • dominicanblood
      August 22, 2012

My cousin was soft-spoken. Our hearts are bleeding over the injustice. First, Titre fired a into the ground. Tiny began walking back to his car then, Titre aimed at his head and fired twice. We know that the devil is busy. Unfortunately, this young man allowed the spirit of hatred, envy, jealously and murder into his heart. We know his family and feel bad for them as well. Pray because this is spiritual warefare. In a world where many men are absent in raising their kids, Tiny took care of his boys, worked hard and LOVED his family.

  22. Horrified
    August 19, 2012

This is so sad! so ridiculous! So unnecessary. I heard the young man’s son crying for his father and my heart bled! My sympathy goes out to the families of the young man, who, from all accounts, was a very respectable person who would walk away from trouble instead of instigate it. This is sad for the name of Dominica. Why can’t we all just get along?? man!!!!!!

It’s sad to hear of another young life lost due to murder My sympathies go out to the family. :(. Another embarassment for Dominicans living in the VI. I’m not saying that Titre is a Dominican, but he could be because of his name. Please, stop the evil. Can’t things be resolved without bloodshed? Alas moi bien fache. I want to cry.

We can live in peace with Jesus in our hearts.

    • August 20, 2012

      @Just in time

We cannot live in peace before we have Life in us, but Life is of Spirit and Truth–the ways of Love, when God is connected to us indwelling of Holy Spirit through conscience For God is Love. Yes! We must be born of Love to grow with the Life of Spirit–joy and peace is of the person who live Life in the Spirit.

Sadly most human beings do not know that truth,so that they will call to God to give them Life through the blood of Jesus Christ.

For that reason, the god of this world is driving them around as he plagues the mind with the things of death–which of course, they put on display through their functions by the will of their god of this world.

We have to pay attention to the things that take place in our mind, every minute of the day, otherwise the devil will continue with his advantage against us.

First of all DNO, this is something concerning family members not the media. A lady from grandbay dies with cancer in St.John, is that news worthy too? or is it just because of the words SHOT and GRANDBAY that you find it news worthy.Rest in peace tinyjah, robbed of your life….i guess this is the obituary of DNO. Before people speculate, he was INDEED a humble man….and not because he is dead. It was not gang related either…now speculate smh

    • Nameless
      August 19, 2012

The media is responsible for reporting the good, the bad and the ugly. They cannot and should not take side. If someone wants to send a press release about their aunt dying of cancer, there is nothing wrong in that. The severity of this crime makes it relevant as a news item. It speaks to the issue of gun violence, it speaks to the issue of Dominicans not behaving themselves even when they are away, it also speaks the issue of people not being able to control their emotions. DNO should keep on top of the story and keep Dominicans informed about everything. The media is there to present NEWS! not to pound bef’ or throw words…they are supposed to be objective and present facts. Based on ethics, if they can bring news about the good Dominicans are doing, they can and should bring news about the bad they are doing as well. Good job DNO!

It’s Dom in a cans like you that love to run your mouth without knowing the full story. TinyJah happens to be one of them who moved away as a kid, went to school and made something of himself. “Pretty sure he wasn’t a by-stander”? Well I’m pretty sure you could not have done what he did. He started his business on his own and with hard work he became a success. He was a family man and he will be missed.

  38. Justice and Truth
    August 19, 2012

How sad that another Dominican died in the USVI. Life is so precious why do people kill and possess such an evil heart to kill? Obviously he has no conscience. How could people kill another and live with this for the rest of their life? Surely, the thought of this atrocious crime against a fellowman, a sin against God, “Thou Shalt Not Kill” should haunt them for the rest of their life to eternity.
If they do not repent enough to appease God with a humble and contrite heart, making whatever penance and restitution possible in also worship and prayer, they stand a good chance of going to Hell when they die. Who knows how soon this will come for them? It is a serious matter. So is eternity, one to be taken seriously.
It is a life that has been taken away. A life the murderer did not and could never give to another.
What occurred to make this ‘Titre’ man kill him? His last name is familiar and sounds like a Dominican surname. Is he from Dominica? He spoilt the good reputation of St. John, which for three years there were no murders. The Law will deal with him accordingly.
Bad company corrupts and also dealing in illegal activities. People do have to be careful who they befriend and learn to stay away from bad company; the words are ‘fly away’ that one may preserve his/her life, peace of mind and live in happiness and peace.
My heartfelt sympathy to his family wherever they reside. May his soul rest in peace. Let God be the judge.
At this moment, today Sunday afternoon, the Holy Rosary, the Glorious Mysteries of Our Lord Jesus Christ are being prayed on the U.S. Catholic Radio. I pray that God had mercy on his soul. God is merciful. Let us hope this brother in Jesus Christ, as he died asked God forgiveness and was forgiven, for whatever frailties he committed.
