A man who, it is said, is a supervisor at Phone Tech, has been arrested and charged for reportedly stealing over $51,000 from the company.
Phone Tech manages the LIME Store in Roseau.
Police PRO, Inspector John Carbon, has identified the man as Michael Peters of a Goodwill address.
The alleged theft took place between June 2 and 7, 2013, according to the police.
The 37-year-old is expected to appear in court tomorrow (June 27).
Though this has nothing to do with this case. But I am hoping people who have the power make a change (everyone of us) read this:
We need leaders to stand for our people. We need people who are interested, not in their own personal gain, but in improving the lives of the Dominican people.
Good Dominicans who can find a job, work hard.(Clearly I am not referring to or supporting dishonest workers)
How are good, hard working employees rewarded?: “High taxes” ” High prices on consumer goods” and ” High import duties” to say the least.
Woe to those who cannot find a job.
We need people who can fight for the better(ment) of Dominican lives and standards of living.
Why does basic and necessary provisions have to be soo expensive that only a selected few can afford and look down on those who don’t.
Why are there so many poor people hanging their hats high on empty promises?
I look around at other countries in the Caribbean and I wish we had some of the economic successes that they have.
Please take the time and energy to change this around, implement measures that help stimulate and grow our economy and improve the lives of our people. (Not just the rich but help provide opportunities to help the middle class and lower classes too)
We will thank you
we want de whole story something missing awa
don’t put your hand in fire for no one. you will get burn. read the news paper from a few years ago. I not saying that he did or did not do it I just sayin the police have their reasons for charging the man.not because things don’t reach the media or make headline news. not all police reports on a person makes news.
Thieves abound in DA and it time that they get their due. If it’s LIME it gets to court fast, but if it is you or me, you are lucky is the police do anything.
I really hear the harder the economy the temptation is greater and the weaker will fall victim, my people learn to see money and leave it where you see it, in other words if it’s not yours DO NOT TOUCH
Sorry for him that he found himself in this situation. Let everyone say, “There but for the grace of God go I.” You should comprehend that.
for those of you blasting this young man, i have worked with him for 5 years and he is a very intelligent young man, and he is innocent until proven guilty, while we there blasting him for stealing it might as well be the manager or another memeber of staff that stole he money, and i am n saying that his is right if he stole it he should pay price but hell we go through so much in life that we do things and not even remember there is a consequence to pay..he is not the first and certainly not last for all the other business places that under paying their workers and not giving medical benefits beware because society is now become wiser and are getting the money other ways..with that being said mr peters i will pray for u and your family because right now u are in a deep whole.
DNO here we go again, the police gave a vague report, but it is your responsibility to probe and give a balanced information. Are your reporters capable of investigating or are they there to be the mouth piece of the police. A report which simply repeats what the police say is useless.
Oh DNO!!!!
A A mister wearing a red shirt. Boi look jokes.
When you go to the building all the workers tops saying LIME so how is he not working for LIME.
A reward is being offered to the person who can tell me who is the BIGGEST THIEF in Dominica for the past 10 years now.
You
I THINK SO YOU NO, PAL PAY UP
lol
And God laughs!
1.Easy as easy does it
2.Do the Post Mortem(PM)& you will find out
When 1 and 2 put ICE on the cake instead of icing, everything gets washed away. IPO, FB, BB, SiSe, and the list goes on.
In the final analysis 2 is the biggest. Huge.
The Goverment…………
YOU NEED TO PAY UP MAHAUT GET IT RIGHT PAY UP
People are crying no jobs those who have messing thier lives up.
“Get Rich or die trying.” You’ll be tried in Court.
The management needs to look at their systems in place or not in place. It is weak and that is the reason why they have had all these thefts.
Human weakness caused this; weakness of the human spirit.
allu straying from the politics at the top. Really…. I’m not sure if everyone commenting seem to leave comfortable lives.. i’m a 22yr old male. The Economy Need to change. If not it’s simple. We suffer from lack of jobs, low income even with jobs. wasted education that cannot be applied here. What’s worst is that its clear that the person elected to assist and bring development shows so clearly that this small saying is tru… “The rich will get rich and poor get poorer”. So what’s left for a young bachelor out of university working for a few hundreds monthly with rent, loan medical problems and much more. People will result to similar or worst action than what’s in question here. This is only a stain on a white sheet about to fall in mud. Hope someone who can make a change had time to read and pull some plan together…
well said my brother
Not unless the people wake up and elect someone with integrity and know how.
even if the economy was better, there’d still be theft. there are countries with better economies than Dominica and the crime rate is high…. i agree things suck. I have a degree, loan and no job, and no one to really help me, but i not blaming politicians
anyway he is not the last person to touch the money it in the office and it in the office 24-7 but is the supervisors all u blaming read between the lines ppl,and those police that threaten people to confess under pressure, by using their family what in the dark will come in the dark.
Sure sounds that financial and accounting loopholes exist within the company along with inadequate checks and measures. The company needs to conduct a review of its processes. The individual recognized the loophole/s, was tempted, succumbed and eventually got caught. Innocent until proven guilty so let the jury decide his fate. How to blemish your name and reputation. Tough!
You have it all wrong. Lime accounting picked this up within a day or two…why would you assume there are accounting loopholes?
one if u read d comments above. U wud have seen where the disclaimer said that it ωαѕ corrected. I worked with this guy at clear harbor and I honestly can’t believe this.if he did it then the penalty has to b paid ßüt ĭמ jus wonderin all of a sudden u stealin?? Hmm ßüt innocent until proven guilty.ßüt to më the thing I find wrong is that a persons identity shud not b shown ón the news unless the court has already found the person guilty. Although I don’t trust the court system either
I don’t really care for the gentleman’s name, but I think the public has a right to know who is arrested for a crime committed in the country. If the police is not competent enough to arrest the correct person “publicly” then steps should be taken.
somebody commented that the former workers of LIME formerly Cable and wireless were “copawayzon” meaning conceited (fresh) but none of them were accuse of theft.
so tell me people. Is it not better to walk on the road and people say “Mamselle or Mr. Copawayzon than they say “Mr. or Mamselle is a thief, un vieux vole’
boy u that do my boy
People please don’t put the cart before the horse. An individual is innocent before proven guilty. Right now all people are doing is having a lot of speculation. Typical Dominicans with a lot of hear say. You want to condemn someone without knowing all the facts. Think about it, the man was there for 3 months and he already stole 51000.00 by himself really? I don’t think it was just him or maybe he is just the scape goat..either way we don’t know for sure until the matter is thoroughly investigated…let’s cross our fingers on that one as our police force typically is never up to the challenge….anyway there is more to this story than meets the eye..there are a lot of low people in high places which use unsuspecting innocents
Well said ,so true.
A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, you may know for a fact that a person is guilty if you have proof without doubt, and even when the court sometimes rule that one is innocent it could be that there is not enough evidence or some other technicality, so not even the court can always determine guilt. You may have read about a man who went to prison for raping a woman. Ten years later DNA test proved that he was innocent, and mind you, the innocent man was mistakenly identified by the victim in a police line-up. So before we condemn the accused just remember that it is possible that you end up in a similar predicament.
I want a true labourite to tell me why pple tiefing so…high office, low office every body on d borbol list wee…skero take out d vat on electricity, cut down on ministers, give d president 1,500.00, mister getting 10 gran he wrk all his life already…doh pay loraine bannis and those like her…port duty i not talking…skerro u making ur children steal, take care of d little important things, please daddy and we’ll behave ourself
you have me cracking up here..all my teeth them shaking!!!
lmao at “all my teeth them shaking”
YOU flipping serious??? politics have to be mentioned????!!
You do not want me to tell you that you do not deserve to have a brain! GO Back in your kaban pissa!!
Is dere skerro have us for d time, how long not long….
Wow….
i absolutely concur!!!
but seriously, that’s just (for lack of trying to be insulting) stupidity…what the hell politics have to do with this matter?
monkey see monkey do
Every time something like this happens, there must be a “politics talk” (Accidents, Theft, Sports, Physical Altercations, Vandalism).
That started when the labour party blamed the then government UWP for every criminal activity then when on in the late 1990s.was said back then it was due to bad go governance and lack of jobs. I’d say the shoe is now on the other foot. Why are labourbites not complaining.
a joke you ah make
$51,000 in five days? Something is definitely wrong here. It’s either he was facilitated if he did that at all (could not have acted alone to pull this off)
that is soooo ridiculous, how can someone take so much, in such a small space of time? well! that is if he really did it,
he should be on worlds dumbest lol
Is it that easy to steal from a company those days?
the police men and them need to check der back yard to only the man dat above us to see the true I doe thing he alone because he just come
Young people, work hard for what you need. Be content. ACT YOUR WAGE.
If they cannot act their wage, then the wage will act them.
Unfortunately they are only into “gotta have it right now.” They don’t want to work, so they steal from others and think that they are just “entitled” to have whatever they want at someone else’s expense.
O boy
Is not true
How is it so easy to steal from companies? Are audit/account books not kept and checked at the end of each day? That being the case the theft should not have been allowed to continue as long as it did.
Companies should invest in morepreventative measures, as some employees are not trustworthy.
That’s why they found out within a couple days my dear. Lime auditors or accounts department was on top of that very early. It didn’t take much time to identify something was wrong.
Apparently it’s not that easy, because in the same month he got caught. (If it was actually him)
weh weh weh allu you not learning…
1 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.6 You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you
You are absolutely right, how dare people bring money to Dominica and create opportunity for people. We should be handed our money and opportunity should be created by the government. And further more how do those bastard justify working hard and making their businesses prosper to a point where they can afford to live a good lifestyle and shop in our stores or eat at our restaurants. Oh and of course if someone is successful they must have “murdered innocent men” or “failed to pay wages”. It couldn’t have been hard work or a good product or good business practices.
That’s what’s wrong with DA all right.
Shalom I just Love that!!!!!!!
@Shalom..Dude are you serious? you sound as if you were one of the pages in the book of revelations!!!!
hahahahah
AMEN!
what verse is that?
@shalom what been u have with skerrit?
He didn’t do it, the evidence will point elsewhere and the ones that once held their heads up high will bow in shame!!
we really need to start taking preventative measures more seriously. So many negative things are happening these days
A
Pray pray pray
He has been charged, but no convicted. It would be really WISE if folks wait to hear the conclusion of it all. So many innocents sit in prison. Dominicans are full of criticism and very quick to BELIEVE everything they hear and slow to weigh the details based on truth. It is better to observe and be quiet until the TRUTH is available.
Also, Dominicans love to rejoice when a fellow countryman/woman falls because they hate to see people prosper. On the contrary, when one prospers, not too many congratulatory comments follow. Don’t you people have children? brothers? sisters? husbands? wives? None of these is immune to the ills of life.
Disclaimer: I don’t know this individual, never heard of him – nonetheless, he is a fellow D’can, just another fellow earthling, human.
I’m not saying its ok for persons to steal from their Employers. But what do you expect when these Employers living big and paying their staff a below average salary.
You don’t have to take the job and give yourself a bad name he VOLER when you VOLER no matter how much you get paid you will never be satisfied living above their means to show off take it in jail and don’t let your soap fall
I’m not saying it is right for people to steal from their Employers. But some of those Employers need to learn to pay their staff a fair salary wage………..
the employee could leave the job to get a job that pays more, under no condition should he have stole the companies $$
true, but there are already no jobs on the island…so many university and college graduates are struggling to get a decent job here and can’t and have to go back to the country they studied
The idicy of some of DNO bloggers never cease to amaze me….classic
Idiocy…..its the ipad typo..waste of device
sorry to hear dat !!!!!!!!!
All u think things doh hard under lebar labour debah
Things are hard everwhere not in Da only.
sorry but with all that stealing well is it that things hard in da just wondering because every time i read an article is a money take up.from a company or people want to leave above what they earn.sorry bro time to pay for your actions if u did take them people money.
u ppl dont know if a story is true u puplish just to tarnish someone’s reputation..u all dont think if the man has children..uhmmm shame dominicans
he shoulda think about that before
sounds like you’ve already judged him eh
who dont have glass windows..throw the first stone..jesus was condemn and crucified innocently sooo mayb u are a culprit thats y u can point fingers….
If the story isn’t true then why does he have a court date? Why didn’t he think of his children first before he touch what he didn’t put? PA BLAME DNO. news is news. As it fall in your doorstep u vex den aa
one is innocent until proven guilty a court date doesn’t mean that he is guilty, it is to prove weather he took the money or not.
Am here reading your blog in regards to this young man. it is very easy to seat by and throw blame without the whole story, but than again this is what drive some of us Dominicans. I have not leaved in DA for over 30 years, but i most say the people has not change. And not everything that is publish is true and that is a fact. There are a lots of thing that we do in life and never once put anything or anyone into consideration. We as Dominicans are so quick to judge
Are you saying that the man was not arrested? That is the only thing that the story said. At no point did this article state that he was guilty. If the gentleman in question was indeed arrested then the story is true. and if the police pro said he was arrested then he was.
The news reads “he was arrested and charged” so he will have his day in court to defend the charges
Do you think the police would arrest and charge someone for a crime they did not commit? They must have evidence against the man; if it was just suspicion there would not be charge against him, LIME would simply fire him. So DNO has every right to publish this. People need to respect other people’s property and do not hang their heart where their hand cannot reach.
Let the man have his day in court before we cast judgement. If after all is revealed he is indeed guilty, then I will call him thief and make a calypso “Liming up on LIME money”
Thanks for the topic….Look out for Liming up on Lime money
it is just a matter of time all of them in there business
awa eh i did a double take when I saw the photo. Not u micheal. we work clear harbor together. thats really a sad and disappointing situation man.
He is a supervisor for the new company. He is NOT a LIME employee. Mr use to be a prison officer and had to leave…..u take him and make him a supervisor?
I’m confused; how is he not a LIME employee but he is a supervisor?
lol ikr
He works for Phone Tech – the company that manages the LIME mobile store
How come his picture there nah? Case call man haha
NO, but he has been formerly charged.
Attitude I guess you mean “formallY”. Honestly the grammar and spelling on this site is getting worse.
I hope it is not universal secondary education that is causing this deterioration.
You have me cracking. Lol
such a shame. we should be able to trust employees.
is this the new order of the day? people be satisfied with what you have. remember that one one coco full a basket. trying to get rich too quickly almost never pays off!
The bible ask us to be contented but I guess some of us are never satisfied with what we have too much greed
If the Management had done their due diligence in the hiring process; this could have been avoided.
Damn, dude was a team lead at clear harbor i bet alot of talk is buzzing down there right now
Just the other day was the girl at Lindo Mart; now this? What’s wrong with you ppl with sticky fingers..yes fada!! I well want a job and yall forming the fool with Employers money!
KC on a point of correction- it wasnt Lindomart thanks
DNO – Please correct the headline. The gentleman was employed by Phone Tec Inc
ADMIN: The official police report said LIME but we have received info that it was actually Phone Tec and this has been changed.
dno why u editing my comment?
ADMIN: Because you are making an accusation that has not been substantiated by the police. We could get sued for such.
papa met I pray its not true awa wi
things a so hard in d.a even people that working trying to get away with money boy
Well, what do you expect…after making 12 credible and loyal staff redundant, LIME is reaping the fruits it have most recently sown! Yes sa, for the past three months all we’ve been hearing about LIME is non-standard, mediocre service and now this! I waiting to hear the rest, more to come……….. Mr. Country Manager,I bet you’re wishing wishing you’d made a different decision, eh?
LIME has always been a reputable company delivering credible and undisputed service. Also, he is employed with PHONE TECH…NOT LIME! Do your research properly. Lock back and come back!
Apparently you have complications reading and/or understanding….? Who are you to tell me about the company that employed and bred me? Customer service is being cried down by customers; do they lambase Phone Tech? No, they’re crucifying LIME! Tainting the company’s image…but guess what, that’s what happens when “quality” is sacrificed in the name of $$$. Yes, the staff WAS loyal, genuine and dedicated…isn’t it evident that these qualities are NOT the prime focus of the new entity? My statement made perfect sense. DNO, am I speculating or offending anyone? SMH, if u don’t know what to comment on, swallow it!
Apparently you have complications in reading and/or understanding…? Whoever said LIME is not a reputable company? Whoever said he was employed by LIME? Chupes, if you do not know what u commenting on, swallow it. LIME is bringing lament and speculation onto itself because of its recent decision to release 12 genuine staff in the name of cutting costs and taking on an entity which have customers bawling on customer service. Don’t dictate to me about a company that I served diligently for years. Everything that former managers and supervisors worked hard to instill has been taken to butcher’s!!
That good for all those of all you that like to run and put picture on Facebook and give update!! Now your picture dirtying the Internet.
That is why I proud to say I doh have and will not have a facebook page. These people just don’t protect your privacy and use your personal data for all kinds of marketing gimick and to spy on people for the US Government.
Yes you get it, I am anti-Facebook!!
Well Marcus – if you have nothing to hide, you should be afraid put picture on FB. Its an individual choice whether to have a FB account or not. Therefore, respect people’s choice as we will all respect yours.
Dude, no one cares whether or not you have a Facebook account. Get over yourself, it’s not an accomplishment.
My friends ask me if is me that post that..my sentiments exactly.
Marcus, what that have to do with anything? We talking about voleur and you discussing facebook. If you do not have a relevant comment, do not comment just to put your mouth in the conversation.
what does stealing from your workplace has to do with facebook??? ur straying from the topic in question!
expose them! let ppl know who are the criminals and who cant be trusted!
very good for LIME. LIME send home all the long serving and genuine and trustworthy workers to outsource for half pay. in all the years, LIME formerly Cable and Wireless has been in existence that never happen. I guess “cheapness brings worriness.”
somehow, I do not see the relevance of this. Guess I am in the minority.
they were too copawayzon the former workers
But wait awhile nuh!!!.. the man maybe doh even have 3 months there… well I say he’s innocent until proven guilty….no judgment until proof is available.
admission from his own lips
he is not from the old school see and dont touch they want it nowwwwww
Bonjaiiii my classmate
it wasnt he alone.
@k – if it was not him alone, talk to the police. u have info
So true, as a matter of fact it wasn’t him.
Law suit will fly just now, wait and see

Assertive, NOT Agressive!
Is he really a LIME supervisor?…..or does he work for he work for the company the mobile store was outsourced too….Phone-Tec Inc. Dno, i think that should be corrected.
Thank you. You are so correct. So DNO like drama.
…And you are looking for drama. Do not exempt yourself. Don’t you love it too?
Read again DNO is correct
