Two men have been charged for the unlawful sexual intercourse and indecent assault of a 12-year-old in Pottersville last weekend.
Bail was opened to both men in the sum of $35,000, but only one of the men was granted the bail bond. His counterpart, who had no surety, and told the court that his passport was stolen, was ordered to clear up the issues surrounding his travel documents by the end of the day, or his bail would be closed until March 15.
As part of their bail conditions, the defendants have been ordered to refrain from congregating near the Berean Bible School – the area of the alleged incident. According to the police prosecutor, it was reported that the two men, along with others, would congregate in the vicinity of the school and “terrorise and harass” the school girls on their way home from school.
Other conditions of their bail are that they surrender their travel passports, not interfere with the complainant, not to leave the country by any means, and to report to the Roseau Police Station every Wednesdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The two men, who appeared before Magistrate Tiyani Behanzin today, were represented by Attorneys Dawn Yearwood-Stewart and Julien Prevost.
The men were not allowed to plea since this is an indictable offense, to be heard before a judge and jury.

Names should be made known to the public in order to protect children. The accused could be roaming amongst us freely, knowing that they are in a sense protected and in a sick way rewarded for their crimes.
