Major cocaine bust

The cocaine seized during Thursday’s bust

The police have arrested two individuals on drug charges in an operation several miles off the coast of Roseau.

The operation netted some 100,000 grams of cocaine.

According to Police PRO Inspector John Carbon, the illegal substance was found when members of the the Coast Guard, Customs and Drug Squad personnel of the Marine Unit intercepted an open keel boat at 10:30 pm on Thursday.

The boat, named “Just In Time”, was powered by two 200 HP engines.

The police have not released the names the individuals who were arrested.

Sources told DNO the cocaine is worth between EC $ 3-5 million.

Meanwhile members of the Drug Squad uprooted and destroyed 11,744 cannabis trees in the heights of Carholm in an operation on Thursday.

One man is being sought in connection with that operation, the police say.

3.) The drugs doesn’t only satisfy them in wealth, it leaves families in grief. These dealers should not do this to people.

These men who were caught bringing these poison to Dominica to pollute the minds of our children, are criminals and as such their pictures and that of the boat should be shown to the public. The police should not hide them.
I hope these drugs together with all the other ones that have been conficicated will be burnt in a public showing.
In the mean time the Gov’t should be creating jobs for all the young men who are seating on the side of the road every day. Although this is no excuse for going into crime.

    • Lapo L'ai
      August 10, 2012

The goernment does not directly create jobs except for the few that are created in the public services.(government workers). It is the job of the private sector(private business) to invest their money in different fields, such as manufacturing, services, construction, transportation etc.Lets not forget we live under a capitalist system of government. Please look up what is meant by the term capitalist system of government.

  24. August 10, 2012

I find it so odd,. such a large quantity of cocaine going to an island where it is my understand the people have barely any money for the basics of life,.. there has to be more to these Cocaine busts than what I am reading. Curious to know where the final destination is… maybe more drone work for the yankees… with the drones over the carribean I think there will be a whole lot more of these busts coming. Good job DA Police for nabbing this nasty drug and the animals that deal it.

    August 10, 2012

Iam in firm support that crack & coke should have zero tollerance to them, i am further concerned of the double standared that is involved in the trading of the drug, especially by the top brass.
I am against the police /the systm herassing the poor man trying to make a living with marijuana, marijuana has rescued several states economy when things go brown, we are now in real brown time, perhaps skero should take a page in Ralphs policy book, cause all over Vincy one will find ganga growing.
just google marijuana and look up the history and the positives of the plant.

  27. logical thinking.
    August 10, 2012

Any time marijuana is ligalised the state will not make the amount of money it is accustomed to making, any time one hears of controle is because the route can be controlled by the catells, something has to happen to show that there is controle but we are not fooled by that we know the top boys do not want small fish to play in theit path.

    • who is in the squad
      August 10, 2012

It depends on who are the officers in the squad at the time for the most part. There was a time when some dedicated, honest, clean cops made up the anti drug squad and they made busts and arrests often, then the squad changed. These guys are clean for the most part. Well done guys

‘Living’. I am living in Canada and this is also not so. The drug addicts are trying but I doubt, specifically under the present Federal government, P.M. Harper, they will ever succeed. I like this PM. He is a Conservative. I have no doubt that he would like to weed out the undesirables, those who cause trouble and gun-totting murderers out of this country who are a menace to the Canadian society. I do not blame him one bit. I support him all the way.
