A man who is accused of stealing $125,900.61 from the company he worked for appeared in a Roseau court on Tuesday.

Franklyn Hypolite is facing the charge of theft.

The police have accused him of stealing the money in cheques and cash from RDR Inc. a mining company owned by Roger Williams and located in Colihaut.

The alleged theft is said to have occurred between 26th July, 2010 and 19th May, 2012.

He was granted bail in the sum of $125,000 with Nikisha Hypolite and Margorie Francis as surety.

Hypolite was also ordered to report to the Mahaut police station twice a week, surrender all travel documents and to stay away from all prosecution witnesses.

Hypolite is being represented by attorney at law Jeoffery Letang and is set to reappear in court 10th December, 2012 at Portsmouth.

one thing I know frankie is not a thief. Whatever the cause of their cheques being missing is definitely not frankie’s doing. they better find who did. My prayers are with you frankie and the family. It is just a test. Hold on and have faith, things will get better. Remember the Lord never gives us things/problems we cannot handle.

I don’t know this guy but some people are very credulous- believing anything they hear without first proving it. In this day and age you’d think some people know the meaning of ACCUSED. Sheesh!

So many comments about being disappointed in the guy, or even asking why he did it as if they were there when it happened. The guy is only ACCUSED – can you guys wait? You are so quick to believe the employer -how do you know that he isn’t taking the blame in lieu of another person’s mistake or deliberate act?

Let me be bold here and say Dominicans enjoy seeing their people fail – especially if they are jealous of one’s position in life. That is why soukoyans (witchcraft) will continue.

May God help change your attitudes to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep!

That is what I dislike with some Dominicans. They are too selective in the people they judge.. if you come from the so called upper class or middle class family, you are innocent, but if you come from the ghetto, you are guilty as hell. In no way am i saying he is guilty, but remember we are all human beings and we are not perfect..

I’ve known Hypolite for years from RCCU and most recently we had some interactions work related. And I must say this guy is the sweetest person you can ever come across in terms of professionalism, cooperation, willingness to help. I saw comments re. persons he helped at RCCU and I understand where they are coming from totally. This guy was just a pleasure to work with.

This is the most shocking piece of news ever. I will pray for you Hypolite and your wife, because she is also a very nice person.

This is just so sad. I hope you find a way to turn this negative into a positive, I know you can do it!

I have one question for the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force and the Judicial System. Why was Mr. Hypolite arrested and charged after being accused by his employers of theft and to this day, Mr. Isidore, who was accused of a similar offence by his employer has not been arrested and charged?

This country is ‘UPSIDE-DOWN’ and ‘BACK TO FRONT’. You are arrested depending on your social status.

anything Dominicans can get they will take. Why the greed? the man already have a job, but he still want more. bringing shame on yourself and your family. so many people caught in the same trap they still not learning. I pray that you will turn your life around.

Apparently you not in Dominica to know how things hard!!! 1500.00 salary can not keep a family who has rent, bill, school fees, food and day to day needs.
What he is accused of i’m not saying is right, but you know how it is, when u need something and everywhere and everyone you turn to gives you a no or wants you to prostitute yourself for a 20.00.

So I’m guessing its one of two tings. Either ur not a dominican or ur declaring ur a theif . According to you, anything dominicans can take they will take. So if ur a thief means that the only reason ur talking is that ur such a damn good one u don’t get caught or ur not dominican. If the latter is the case. Stop insulting us and look in ur own closet!

It’s a good thing DNO readers are not Judge and Jury. Already the man is deemed to be guilty. The story explicitly states ACCUSED!!! How many times have we been accused of something we did not do? Let’s se how this one plays out and then we can cast aspersions. For the dudes sake I hope he’ s innocent!

That is so true. I don’t see the logic of including the names of those who bailed them out. This information is not relevant to the public it just unprofessional. You could have simply said that he was bailed with two sureties. If it were my name I’d ensure its removed. Its distasteful. Remember the world is a cycle.the sun may be shining on your side of the mountain now but the clouds will come. Have some class and remoive the poor people names.

I don’t know this guy on a personal level but what I do know is that when I received service from him when he worked at the RCCU I was VERY impressed with his professionalism and high level of customer service.

What i don’t understand is why is it that anytime an employer accuses his employee of stealing, to the police authorities, they are arrested on so much circumstantial evidence? The employee is left to prove his innocence while his life is being turned upside down just on his boss’ speculations.

Also the boss has administrative access to his own accounting system and could manipulate the data to incriminate the employee very easily.

Sometimes the supervisor could be the one stealing and depending on their level of access to the accounting system they could easily frame an employee who they feel threatened by.

I just think all these things need to be taken into consideration.
