Stanley “Kiddy” Jno Baptiste of 3rd Street Canefield has learnt that fighting a woman is probably not the best idea and he now has to pay dearly for his “error of judgement.”
Jno Baptiste appeared in court on Friday and according to reports the whole melee began on November 3 when he called his children’s mother and asked her to bring the children to his home. However, she responded that she was at a friend’s home in Fond Cole and instructed him to meet her there.
Jno Baptiste went to Fond Cole and after taking a drink of Red Cap rum, confronted the woman, telling her to come home with him. She refused and asked for money instead, to which Jno Baptiste responded with a series of explicit words.
But his burst of profanity was not enough to calm Jno Baptiste, who lunged at the woman, grabbed her, and began fighting with her in full view of everyone in the house. He then took a bottle of perfume and jammed it into her mouth. She was later taken to hospital with injured lips.
But when the police were called Jno Baptiste had a completely different story in which he claimed that the woman was the aggressor as she had struck him with a piece of iron and he had only retaliated.
To drive home his story he began complaining of injuries that he received when he was allegedly struck by the woman. The police then decided to take him to hospital but upon arrival Jno Baptiste escaped by running away.
He was arrested four days later.
He was slapped with charges of battery on a woman; wounding and escaping custody.
He pleaded guilty to all the charges.
To make matters worse, Jno Baptiste had a pending warrant for his arrest for failure to pay a fine of $1,000 just over a year ago.
In court on Friday Jno Baptiste was remorseful and in tears. “I’m sorry for what happened … I love my kids,” he said between sobs.
He told the court that he was aware of the warrant out for him for his failure to pay the fine or face four months in jail. “I have most of the money and I expected my mom to assist me with the rest,” he stated.
Not amused, Magistrate Candia Carette George told him that she always “frowned on men who raise their hands on women.”
“Women are to be loved, cherished and respected, not to be beaten by men and I always frowned on men who do such … if you all can’t agree walk away,” she told him.
He was remanded in custody for his failure to pay the $1,000 fine and for the charge of battery he was fined $750; for wounding $750 and escaping lawful custody $500 or in default, six months in jail.
“You now have to find $2,000 to pay to the court,” the magistrate told him.

The sad thing about this whole story is that kiddie will find another lover who read this story and thinks that Liddie will treat her with love and respect. WARNING. He is a troublemaker. Some people can get into trouble and make trouble for themselves and for others. The liquor went to his head. The next time he should drink pop or orange juice. This would not have happened to him if he did.

Escaping from the police, what a joke, lots of them are also women hitters. There should be more protection for women, and harsher punishment to the abusers!!
Look on the flip side of things. If you are attacked… You retaliate. By accepting that and re-itterating, if a woman atks a man and that man does nothing, to the public he is alright; to me, he is an ass.

Any kind of physical abuse of women must be dealt with in a harsh way by the courts.Such abusers should be given stiff sentences.I suggest a one year mandatory sentence at the state penitentiary.(jail)Please stop that foolishness called fines. I am against both abuses be it women or men,I know of married men in Dominica, their wives taking good care of themselves some not working the husband is the one working and he cannot even take a dime from his paycheck it goes directly to his master his wife, why when women beat up men it is ok and when do the same it is a different cry, too much double standard when it comes to abuse

Any coward who would beat up a woman needs to receive a much stiffer Sentence than this. We need men of courage in our country who love and protect their women… Never EVER beat them up! Abuse is never right.
