Masked men rob pharmacy in Roseau; two arrested

Curious onlookers outside the pharmacy
Curious onlookers outside the pharmacy

Two men have been arrested following a brazen daylight robbery in Roseau.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning.

A visibly shaken owner of Today’s Pharmacy on Hillsborough Street, Eddie Severin, told DNO that the two masked men, armed with cutlasses, entered the establishment, broke a mirror and demanded cash.

The pharmacy was also ransacked.

The men made good their escape with around $600.

DNO understands two men have been arrested in connection with the crime.

DNO will publish more information as it becomes available.

It amazes me the type of comments you people put on here. And again I can’t always blame you all for the stupidity because of what is in the post. Wonder what you all will say when the truth of the matter gets out?
The 2 young men are employed, they were not masks. They did what any of you would do to protect your loved ones……. By the way isn’t that same Today’s Pharmacy that has a reputation. Y’all need to stop that nonsense. STOP BLAMING the GOVERNMENT for peoples doings. They don’t send people to do harm unto others. When you don’t like a party you will never like them. But before the have something all you always there to get. STOP PUT POLITICS IN ALL WHAT GOES ON IN DOMINICA.

Robbery is wrong and should be condemned in all its forms. However its a tad hypocritical when people selectively condemn robberies of these types on business places, yet make excuses and condone those highway robbery of an entire nation by unscrupulous politicians.

Thieves wait till you get the story

  15. The Facts
    November 20, 2014

You guys are downright thieves. Work for what you want and leave people’s property alone. You steal money. It is like a bag with holes in it. When the money is soon finished you will go elsewhere to steal and repeat the pattern.
You also carry a weapon when you go to rob. Criminals commit two crimes, theft and murder. Should you do this, what do you think will occur to you if caught?
I wished the Court System would be more severe with those criminals especially when they carry a weapon and also use it during a robbery. Even then, the fact they carry a weapon, their intention is to use it if they are obstructed from stealing. In some cases, it could lead to murder, if not more.
Therefore, it is a serious matter. The Court should not grant them bail or release them from prison. They deserve life imprisonment.

    • The Facts

Maybe they were in the NEP program or refused to participate or were not interested. They had the opportunity. Who knows? Some prefer a criminal life which gives them leisure time.

You are dumn. Know where most crimes of opportunity takes placs? You got it – the USA! We have more than 2 million behind bars – and that does not include those who are at some stage of involvment with the justice system, having trangressed US law codes. And this is the richest, most job creating country the world has ever seen.

Stop the ignorance, nah, and help educate your fellow men.

@Anonymous, I was just about to say that but you beat me to it. But one needs to understand that yesterday was Wednesday and today is Thursday, two big RED Clinic days, and I guess due to the election campaign, both facilities were closed and could not serve their patients.

    • The Facts
      November 20, 2014

To go to that extent for what? No excuse for stealing and premeditating stealing. They planned it. What type of patriotic national are you?

The VII – Seventh Commandment of God is – Thou Shalt Not Steal.
Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor’s Goods –
Commands: respect for the rights of others.
Forbids: the desire to take, to keep, or to damage the property of others.

Until it happens to you, you will then sing a different tune. Wait until they steal and damage your property and see how you will feel and what you will state.

This picture has an underlying of Doom & Gloom. It is a very sad picture, it seems that DA is crying.

    • The Facts
      November 20, 2014

Our Lord Jesus Christ is crying at the wickedness of people and their heartlessness. They were once babies and innocent children and note in their adulthood what they have become. Who taught them to steal, to become criminals?
Those who commit crimes as also stealing will not escape God’s justice for He makes no excuses and exonerates no one from sin of any nature. He set His Commandments and woe to those who violate them.
Under no circumstances they have a right to steal and damage the property of others. They want big money and do not want to work for it. They are lazy bones. One day they will pay for their crimes. This will be the justice of God and his just recompense to those criminals. As St. Paul said, “Teach and remind people of these things.”

Their wicked minds have them so. How can you make excuses for them? I hope you are not one, a practicing Christian who go to church at least on Sundays. What have you learned about Christianity and working for your livelihood?
God gave them a life, a body with feet and allotted time. What have they done with them? One day they will have to answer to God for what He has endowed them with and they wasted it in criminal activities.

      November 20, 2014

So what are u saying, because there’s no job, one has to go and rob a small drug store?
On another note, the criminals know that they are being protected ,when ever they commit their crimes, they know they are not going to receive any penalties for their crimes, the judges set them free, all that are causing the police officers to be frustrated , there’s no scence to make any arrest

    • Rachel
      November 21, 2014

Frustration is real in every country. If you are frustrated why don’t you go rob too?
Making excusses for these acts is absolutely absurd. The men who robbed the jewelry
store in the iron district in Manhattan were frustrated too? People will steal, kill, and
commit crimes if they believe they can get away with it. Stop blaming “the system” for
      these acts!

      • drone
        November 20, 2014

Haitians cultivate what land? What is wrong with some of you? Haitians are involved in predial larceny like tower in Dominica. Who was responsible for the spate of holdups two years ago? In every case a Haitian was affliated with the business robbed and they only got a slap from the assailants, very convenient I’d say.

@Pantyman. So anything and everything bad that happens on the island, you all blame government? Why is it that when good things happen, government is not given credit? Every individual, regardless of which gov’t is in power, is responsible for their own actions. Perhaps, the culprits knew punks like you do really exist and would blame gov’t, so as election is in full gear, they decided to strike. Or did you send them there?
