Massacre man asks for jail time

free prisonerIt is not often you hear an offender asking for time in jail.

Denison Langlais of Massacre actually asked a magistrate to send him to prison for six months after he pleaded guilty to beating a police officer on July 17.

He also also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and carrying an offensive weapon, a cutlass, on the Massacre public road without a valid reason .

He appeared before Magistrate Arley Gill on Monday.

“I am sorry, I am not good in my head,” Langlais, 52, told the police after he was arrested.

Langlais told the court that he is a drug abuser and asked to be sentenced to six months in prison.

However, Gill saw it fit to add an extra three months to the six months the defendant had requested.

According to court documents at about 3:00 am on July 17, Constable Lawrence B was at his residence in Massacre when he heard the sound of smashing of glass.

He immediately armed himself with a pistol and walked towards MAM’s Restaurant when he noticed the defendant exiting the building with a bag.

“Police, don’t move,” the constable shouted.

However, Langlais failed to comply and instead reached for his cutlass and rushed at the officer.

The officer fired a round at the Langlais and tried to apprehend him. However, the assailant managed to escape.

The bag was retrieved and it contained alcoholic beverages, a small wire cutter, crowbar, among other items.

Police officers at the Mahaut Police Station were alerted and they went in search of the defendant.

On arrival at his home, he was found in bed.

He was informed of the report made against him and he replied, “Yes officer I did it, but it was at the front I pass and I am the one who wrestle with you.”

He was arrested and taken to the Mahaut Police Station.

On the charge of carrying an offensive weapon and resisting arrest he was reprimanded.

“You have a long list of theft; take some time to rest yourself,” the magistrate told Langlais.

Attacking a police officer is a serious crime, especially with a deadly weapon. He should have given more time.I lived in Massacre for a long time as an officer and Constable Lawrence exercise extreme, extreme restraint in the execution of he duties. This assailant could have been dead.Good Job Constable Lawrence you deserve a promotion. ooops i forget that promotion comes by affiliating yourself with the ruling party. Dont give up keep up the good work.

(6+3=9) He though the judge would give him less time that’s why he ask for six months He came with his coco mackak under his sleeves. He is brave to lance at the officer with a machete or cutlass You know this is attempted murder? The judge spear him. He get away this time he should ask himself a question, I hope he learn a lesson in jail. He might serve less time for good behavior. Wait a minute! Can you get out on good behavior? Please let us pray for him, Most times theses folks just need counseling and TLC (tender loving care) Let them know GOD care for them and you do to.

I don’t understand how and why anybody should beat another. If I was an officer, there is NO WAY I’d allow some fool to beat me senseless. I’d used the barrel of my head and beat HIM senseless, if that does not work, then I’d make certain he sees the bullet.

He knew he would not be able to pay a fine. He is not right in his head. Those who say that are right in their head. He left his house, went to the restaurant, broke and enter the restaurant and stole. That is premeditated theft.
Then he tried to attack the policeman with his cutlass, resisted arrest and escaped.
The man is a menace to the Massacre society. The magistrate should have given him more than one year in jail. In a few months time he will be out and will continue his pillage.
Someone stated he has children. They should pray for him. If he can read, while in prison they should give him a Bible. . When he is released from prison they should encourage him to go to church.
Maybe he needs a pep talk or an adult talk from the magistrate. Hopefully, this could help him to curb this lifestyle including drugs.

WOW! Only in DA. this cop is a good guy. In some other countries the cop would have out his light and he would say he was protecting himself and the neighborhood. The big boys would say an investigation is pending. The officer would be given a desk job or placed on administration leave with pay. The next week the investigation is complete. The result of the investigation, the officer was defending himself. That guy needs to stop and get a grip on his life. He need to go and do some farming. He need prayers, he is under some strong delusion. If a man is asking the judge to send him to jail, you know he have issues. God speared his life for a reason. If God can change Saul into Paul. He can change can change this man. (God,s son our brother)

Our Magistrates sending the wrong message here. That is pure nonsense. Mr should face a charge of attempted murder. Me actually charged the officer and wrestled with him who could have killed him in self-defence (Only have God who protected him by making that gun jam).

He could also be charged under section 18 of the Prevention of Crimes Act adding an additional 3 years in prison for assaulting the officer.

He should also be charged with Burglary which carries a maximum of 12 years when he smashed both doors of the building trying to enter and actually packed a bag full with drinks before the officer approached him.

Mr went of a rampage in Massacre for two weeks straight and everybody there knows it was him. It is only this one he was caught so they should lock him up good!

If the gun didn’t jam we would be singing a different story now. Three times the officer shot at him and each time that gun jammed. Mr real LUCKY to be alive.

I agree with you, he really needs help, but it seems he was sent on vacation to “rest himself”. Nothing in there says he’ll be getting counseling; he may be coming out worse 9 months from now.
