Francis was granted bail in the sum of $400,000

Magistrate Bernard Pacquette has granted bail in the sum of $400,000 to the proprietor of JX Car Rental, Nichodemus ‘Forshe’ Francis of Portsmouth who was charged with alleged possession of cocaine earlier this week.

Francis was charged with the possession of 24 kilos of cocaine and possession of 24 kilos of cocaine with intent to supply. The illegal substance is estimated to have a street value of $640,800.00.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He was arrested following a drug bust on Monday 23rd June 2014 at Tan Tan, during which a Nissan pathfinder registration number TC565 was also seized.

Francis, who is represented by attorneys Dawn Yearwood Stuart and Wayne Norde, was granted station bail on Wednesday at $300,000 with his nephew Ignacious Francis standing as surety.

However,  on Thursday Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Valda Powell, made a request that bail should be increased stating that no evaluation was done in relation to the certificate of title which was presented at court.

Bail was then granted in the sum of $400,000.

The accused businessman is expected to reappear in court on Friday, along with his surety, for the completion of the bail process.

As part of his bail conditions, Francis must submit his passport and social security card to the court, report three times a week to the Portsmouth Police Station between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm and refrain from engaging in any similar activities.

The matter has been adjourned to September 29 in Portsmouth.

I wish DNO would check it sources and report clearly. The man is not from Portsmouth. He is from Savanne Paille and reside in the village but has a business in Portsmouth. Therefore, the only connections he has with Portsmouth is the JX Rental Car Services

Does it really matter where he from? He is a Dominican. Whether we are Dominican or otherwise, God wants us to live responsibly. So where he is from is irrelevant. He must pay for his crimes. Ministers of government must pay for their crimes too.

Same as Police Bail. Where upon having been charged an accused is granted bail for his appearance in court on a set date.

The illegal substance is estimated to have a street value of $640,800.00. with bail there is a 240,800.00, after bail of 400000.00.It ought t be x2 the street value.
The old cliche x10 is the amount this guy maybe worth.
But as we say behind closed doors if it was me I pleading not guilty pay off a good lawyer who can get me off on technicalities.

And the beat goes on as usual. No surprise people. In a matter of time, everything will be forgotten, money paid here and there to the corrupted lawyers to keep the case on ice. Again that’s the way things are in Dominica.
