PM Skerrit commends police for efficiency during Carnival

Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit has publicly commended the Police for their efficiency during the just concluded Carnival season.

This follows a statement from Police PRO, Acting Inspector, Pellam Jno Baptiste deeming this year’s Carnival “relatively peaceful,” despite 23 arrests made in Roseau alone, and several reports of violence.

“They were able to carry out their duties with diligence and efficiency, and I believe that was able to minimize the incidents which we normally would have had during the Carnival season. Their presence brought out some comfort to all of the revelers and the wider public,” Skerrit said on Kairi FM’s ‘The Heng’ on Thursday.

He stated that while people are quick to criticize when the Police are at fault, they must also be quick to praise the Police for their effort and success.

“The country must really commend them because often times, we, as a society, are quick to criticize the Police when we believe that they have faulted; but when they have done well, there are very few voices in commendation,” he noted.

The plan for a three-prong approach to an incident-free Carnival, publicized by the Police last week also received commendation.

“The Police did an exceptional job. And, I think, they were able to articulate their plan to the public in advance to the Carnival celebration and I believe that plan was executed very, very well. So, I really want to publicly commend them for that…” he stated.

Skerrit went on to express his hope that the public continues to aid law enforcement, and although the Police are charged with ensuring public safety, every individual is personally responsible for maintaining “law and order.”

“At the end of the day, the security of the state is the responsibility of everyone. The Police have a greater responsibility, but each of us has a responsibility to maintain law and order,” the Prime Minister said.

The police have a challenging job at any time. This is specially true during carnival.

Many tourists consider visiting Dominica to see the carnival. They do not want to walk into a danger zone. Unfortunately the report from the 2016 carnival is not all good.

Most of us do our best work when we know we are appreciated. The police are no exception. No doubt they work hard every year at carnival. Your PM expressed his appreciation for the police and I believe it was well deserved. Like he said when the people do not think the police do well they are quick to criticise.
But when they do a great job they tend to say nothing.

When was the last time you thanked an officer  for the work they do :?:

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

I was equally impressed with the height of security at this years carnival. And for those that got injured, it was not the police who did the crime. Even those that critisize the police when they fall short without biased, including myself, I can say the police turn out was real and effective. Give thanks.

“PM Skerrit commends police for efficiency during Carnival:.” The Dominican People say:
The Dominican people are critical of Skerrit and his humongous lack of efficiency during his tenure as PM of Dominica. Nothing this man spews out goes well with us as long there is no accountability from his office.
“The country must really continue to be very critical of Skerrits lack of efficiency because often times, we, Dominicans as a society, are quick to criticize the champions (Lennox, Athie etc) of good governance when we believe that they have made us aware big time; but when they have done well, there are very few voices in commendation,” referring to them as “traitors” because it hurts Skerrits and his corrupt acolytes As we continue to watch DA deteriorates in development our people remain poor under this corrupt regime.
“At the end of the day, the security of the state is the responsibility of everyone. The UWP have a greater responsibility, but each of us has a responsibility…

The police are Skerrit’s little boys hired specifically to protect Skerrit and his interests so he has a right to give them kudos in public.

Despite what Skerrit said on Kairi, inwardly we know he is disappointed because laborites did not take his nasty invitation to attack members of the opposition, during the carnival, as I understand it to mean.

I mean Skerrit is so deceptive and dangerous that words cannot even describe him. Here is he praising police today for maintaining law and order and saying we all have a part to play, yet that hypocrite was the one who went to St. Joseph a week before the carnival, and said this:

When you see them on the streets, in the supermarket, at a funeral, on a plane or even in their cars, shout out to every single one of them – Traitor!

What do you call them? Traitor! When you see Lennox Linton, what do you call him? Traitor! When you see Thomson Fontaine, what do you call him…?

Can’t believe today is that same hypocrite talking…

Congratulations to the police and all Uniform groups, also congratulations to the greater members of the law abiding public for conducting themselves in a manner suited to our beloved country, when we make up our minds to do the right things, none others, does it better. Remember, there is always more concious Law abiding persons than those who seek to commit crimes, it not too late to come on board and make Dominica proud.

Bless are the peace makers for they shall inherit the kingdom of heaven. After watching the miss Dominica pageant with so much pretty ladies dressed with pretty clothes and well presented then came the carnival mod dress like they come to worship the devil. A creole country not one wears a creole garment. If there is a next carnival every lover of Dominica must worn creole clothes .we are a creole country and not for one day

Yes, the carnival is such a mixed bag :!:

The flow of alcohol, the lewdness, and rowdiness are reasons it is not endorsed by many (most?) evangelical Christians. These things tend to attract the people who are most apt to give the carnival a bad name.

Nevertheless, we hope law and order will prevail, and it will be a peaceful time, for the most part anyway.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.
