Police have reported a breakthrough in the investigations of a robbery which occurred at the Western Union branch in Roseau on Thursday morning.
Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Kenth Matthew told Dominica News Online that two men has been taken into custody on the same day and a substantial amount of the money was recovered.
He said one security guard was slightly wounded in the incident and a pregnant woman employee of the establishment was traumatized. They were taken to hospital and subsequently released.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 on Thursday morning when two masked men, one armed with a gun, forced their way into the building on Hanover Street.
Two female employees and a male employee, who walked in during the robbery, were roughed up by the robbers before they made their escape with the loot.
The police did not report how much money was taken or recovered.
boy boy Mr Kelvin you never change. I am sorry for you, but you need to learn a lesson. You came from a good educated family, and the best thing you find to do is to play Ninja in Roseau.
I am happy they caught you and this other guy i cannot recognize he is not from Grandbay he look like Haitian, his last name is nah. I hope they lock you up for good at least you will be better of in Jail. I will remember you in prayer.
The first thing they mention is they are Grandbarians. These guys left Dominica small and came back with all their bad habits, and this is what they are producing.
Show their faces
they doing a good job for real… at foolin the nation…that story so fake.. they didn’t get back any money…..and they just hold 2 random men….i feel sorry for the innocent….anything to please the media in d/ca…..it’s a shame.
For you to know all that, you need to make your identity known. Were you involved by any chance?
Looks like ur friends got caught this time…lol. Well chew yoe paytay! 99 days for the thief but one lucky day for the cop. The police not fooling no nation, your friends fooling you…idiot! Jail they going so keep bumping your sorry gums. Cant understand why some people like defending criminals.
lmfao you too donkey!!!!!! Dominica too small for man to rob place in big day light and get away with it.. Allyuh man too DOTISH!!! put yuh hand in fire for ppl still
why dont these people go and work hard for their MONEY!!!
I’m really disapointed
they did have good jobs
Sicko secko….Secko sicko
Ha-ha ha …..I have to laugh at my Dominican people……one person said beat them and he’s getting thumbs up…….then again it’s what they are used too….. well as long as the guy who beat up his sister can be fined….I think these guys should also given an option of paying a fine as well….or else our legal system is sending a message loud and clear……. Seems like I should put some money aside to pay the court and also to pay a hit man to beat up a couple people for me……………
Well at least I hope they’ll have a defense lawyer paid for by the state…..I used to wonder what is the purpose of having a defense lawyer if the perpetrator/s have been caught right handed robbing an establishment ……..it’s not like they can argue It was angry at the moment as in the case of a crime of passion…..now I know that they are given an attorney to ensure that they are treated fairly….not to prove their guilt or innocence but to be protected from being treated unfairly……
These wicked Dominicans on here would have them hanged…… who needs the psychiatrist again? ………………hmm you people have twisted minds……what can I say……Jesus loves you to
Good job but I still want to see police check points now and again; random searches of vehicles and their occupants at strategic locations and at anytime – lets keep those intended at committing crime on our radar at all times. It happens in St Lucia, Grenada and Trinidad where I recently visited. Task FORCE get to work – just like we do for licenses and insurance do it for drugs and fire arms I doh mine the inconvenience as a driver its for my own propection. Move it move it move it!!
RANDOM SEARCHES IN TORTOLA IS WORKING VERY WEL.
CORRECTION:- VERY WELL
thx to the poliemen. i heard the robbers are from grand bay is that true DNO?
GO POSSY AND FIND THE MURDERERS , AH U GLAD AH U HAVE SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT , LEAVE GRANDBAY ALONE

Grand bay has always been known to be a violent village if you want to call it so
You just had to go to Guadeloupe and say that you from either those 3 villages Grand Bay Calibishie,Marigot
We are one of the fastest growing section in the north give us some respect here.
Show their faces! Why when these criminals are arrested that their faces are not shown in Dominica. Here in America, as long as you are an adult they will show the suspect before a trial. Let people know the thieves!
DNO MY DARLING RELEASE THEIR PICTURESSSSSSSS
good job witchurch/western union for having camera otherwise that would have been a very long investigation.
You all just running all you mouth.
I heard one of the guys from Platium Security said that the current law in Dominica does not allow for camera footage to be used in court as evidence. Are you serious?!! Is that for real? Please carify.
Thanks.
its true a picture alone cannot be evidence isnt there anyone that u know looks like u think about it
Congratulation to you Mr Carbon and to your dedicated bunch who continue to perform even when science and technology have left you all behind.I wonder what will happen when you receive the training you all really deserve? Magic i guess

With the little resources Dominica Police Force has I think they have done a great job in solving this robbery and even recovering money. Thank God we have a Task Force. Good job fellas get those Criminals and keep our country safe. Let’s maintain a low crime rate.
and they caught one out of how many whats so great about that
I need to hear from Justina Charles the explanation of her constuence doing such desparate crimes…..
Life should be good in Dominica under labour. Better so in the Labour constituents..
But again monkey see monkey do, they cannot sell passport so they dootherwise.
I need to hear Justina Charles…
I AGREE
@ Benaravin
“Constituents”
do you think justina charles have control over the people of grand bay you fool.where does politics come into play with this robbers, is grand bay the only place committing crime? Did DNO say that they were from Grand bay? this is why people need to start suing people in dominica for there damn mouth. what does labor party have to do with crimes.like u innocent.
I hope the get all the necessary charges!
I have always named the Dominica Police Force as the # 1 Police Force in the Caribbean. Keep making us proud. Great Job Guys.
Are you being sarcastic?! Are you aware of the number of unsolved murders in Dominica? You can’t be serious.
GOOD JOB DPF. JOB WELL DONE.
not too long from now dno will post a new article”the suspects have been released for failure to connect enough evidence to the”… p.s. we live in dominica!!
Good job. What about the robbery at possie on wednesday?
these men need to be given the maximum sentence make an example out of them .people could have died in this incident ,what the hell is going on in DOMINICA bon dier
good job officers
i think the vole/thieves name should be publicized. dam thief. we should brand them like horses. let the whole of dominica know who they are.
WAY TO GO OFFICERS!!!!!. Job well done so far. Now please ask the court to have these guys remamded and do a thorough investigation like figer print, DNA, voice recognition, height/ weight comparism of the masked men to those in custoday, and dont forget to have ALL those accomplices arrested also.
Question everyone who works at the place and even their significant other and even close relative to see what conversation they had with such people recently. It may have been as simple as their friends asking: Do you feel safe at work? Do they have cameras to protect you? How come allu only have $1000.00 in there at any given time? Why the guards at the place dont have guns? Any such question ask to an employee may seem insignificant by the unsuspecting employee but very critical to the criminal.
A heist of such precision and magnitude MUST have others involved besides the two who did the actual act. And by the way dont forget to find and seize the get-way vehicle involved.
The other issue will be the fire arm used so PLEASE, SOUPLAY, DONT GIVE IT BACK to the owner even if it was stolen or borrowed or even if the license is expired. Now you all cant say Dr.Shameless did not assist with this critical investigation.
And by the way, as soon as allu have this one wrapped up, go back by Mr. Emmanuel and start all over again. Dont forget to file the extradition orders for the prime suspect Senior Sico/ Seco and all other accomplices who have fled the state. Once he is in custody I will give more investigative tips on this one.
THe police seize both kelvin car and jeep . Good job officers
Jail dem…Jail no bail
i agree too
i think the officers did a very good!!!!
Good job Counterparts. You guys are really doing a fine job, regardless of what the critics may say.

Well done Officers. I hope u have them and the case sticks.
thank god for our police force and may god continue to give them the right sense of direction while performing their jobs.. to be joined soon.. great job to my boys n girls in blue.
I am so proud of our officers……. You make me proud all the time.
kudos to the commonwealth of dominica police force
When they stole, how far did they expect to go with the loot which they fraudulently obtained?
Do not be idle and seek legal employment for legal pay. You will be happier and peaceful for it.
If the officers attacked on intelegence it was great…..
It seems as if the police still remember how to act when it does not affect their political party but tend to forget when their party will look ugly. Go get help from friendly governments to arrest the person (s) that attempted to kill GON in the 2010 Christmas day fire bumb
Well done to the Police. They really acted on it.
BEAT THEM BEAT THEM LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW.
BEAT THEM SICK SICK SICK BECAUSE IS SICK THEY SICK.
BEAT THEM FOR ALL UNSOLVED ROBBERIES IN THE COUNTRY.
THIS TIME PETER WILL PAY FOR PAUL.
PUT BLOWS LIKE OLDS CLOTHES ON THEM.
And tomorrow you will be screaming police brutality. The nerve of some people. The slavery mentality must go.
It good for those robbers If it was me i would hit there back 20 times, but still even if i did that,i will still give tham the amount of money they stoll thats the amount of years in jail
All of a sudden is good job officers eh! Aren’t they the same officers you ppl have been crying down time and time again? Calling them incompetent, involving them in any and everything politics etc.
You bloddy hypocrites!
More severe punishment should be implemented
You see Whitchurch do have to advertise its method sof security to everyone; we doh need to know what gave them away….toute pawol pa bon pou parlay…nuff said.
WOW, GOOD JOB,THAT WAS FAST.WE ARE STILL AWAITING AN ARREST FOR THE GON EMANUEL CHRISTMAS DAY FIRE.
Well done officers continue the good work.
good news officers!! keep up the good workduring the carnival season. ADMIN, were any photos of the criminals available??
The police should take them into the cell and give them a good working over. DO not kill them, but buss them up good a proper so that they will never have the urget to do something like that again. I would pepper spay them in the cell and make them feel a lot of pain. These are the scum of the earth.
Yeah right!!!!!!!! And tomorrow you would join the crowd screaming POLICE BRUTALITY. That is why we will never move forward because we dont know what we want as a nation.
Great job officers you really work when you have to. Continue the hard work and promotion will come, trust in God.
Always keep confidential what witnesses say to you and we will have confidence in the Police.
Great job officers you really work when you have do. Continue the hard work and promotion will come, trust in God.
Wow pow pow working boy . Good job officers. Keep it up.
Keep up the good works my police brethen
great job and thumbs up foor the police for the breakthru in this robbery but one thing i need to say is the names of the culprits should be made public in the news, and the law should deal with them very serious to be an example to others.
I always know that our Police Officers have the ability to solve crime on island.
I just wish they would be as efficient in solving ALL crimes, if you know what I mean.
dno i need to say an investigations shud be done on why tourist contd to go at batibou beach and get robbed..the hotels n guest houses shud be made to educaqte them n have tour guides with them.they contd to be robbed
Spell Check my people………………is that so difficult?????
well done officers for a job well done but the public need to confide in officers they can trust n give information about crimes they know about..its time to put the criminals away to save our beloved country.
Wow! Good job. When will we see and hear the same for the terrible crime committed on Dec 25th 2010? We know now that there was not any mask men involved. So what’s the problem?
Many people are asking the same question. Good day GON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes we must ask the same question for an unsolved crime that was committed on two senior citizens, for which the Police seem to do very little about by way of investigation because of political influence. HOW CAN WE TOLERATE THIS
what
The reason why the Police are unable to solve the Dec.25 fire is that the good investigators Edmund Darroux, Blanchard, Valerie and the others are not in the force.
Guess what, asked Edison James and the UWP why?
Crime committed on Dec 25th,was it more terrible or terrifying than other unsolved crimes you have heard about?See so many people found dead and YOU don’t show much interest or concern about them;but to you Dec 25th 2010 seem to be your political issue.Your Blue painted mind.
Was the terrible crime an inside dealing crime?
Was it about white-powder?
White-powder is evil, we don’t need that in Dominica!
who cares bout dec 25th? the only thing you should care about is the ham and red red wine and that day… .
Arresting is one thing, convicting is another. Ask Sarah Lynn.
policeeeeeeeeeee sookkkkooooooooo lol
@zzzzz
While I would like to agree with you that in general people tend to get off conviction at a rate proportional to the severity of the case, there is a twist to this rule. It matters against who the crime was committed against. When ever a crime is perpertrated against one of the traditional elite, the police work faster, are dramatically more efficient and the prosecuters as well as the jurors go out to make an example. When its against a poor black citizen then everyone turns the other way.
just from the sympathies and outrage express on this western union case one can see it is much more than other cases even murders. So these are the factors than influences the outcome.
yes sah…. when will this stop… how could they force their way in?? so a financial institution like W.U don’t have strict code that doors should be locked until opening for service time… meaning the security should be at the door to open up for staff n lock the door back…. it doesn’t seem that was the case… it seem the door was unlocked n they just brushed in on the officer… since seeing them approaching he would try to hold the door closed….
do u think before u type? sit and re think again.1) Armed with a gun 2) opening hours 3)forced his way in key word “armed”
They could’nt have walked the street with mask on their faces, so the security officer could have seen their faces before they would enter the building
Good Job Officers..
Great Job officers – keep up the good work!
May Father God bless you all with wisdom to do your job.
kudos to the investigating officers!!
thats it, now i see police doing there job properly. now all we need is proper equipment for our security officers at private place, government place. good job
I agree –
Aggreed with you proper equipment for the police .The police needs to be one step ahead of these criminals.
Business houses armed your businesses with CCTV and better trained security guards also better protection for your workers dealing with cash etc….
@ dr.b
The police have been doing their job but some of you would not give them a chance as they are demeaned by calling them all sorts of derogatory names. May this cease.
In general, the police cannot catch every criminal and solve every case. The police also needs the help of nationals. It is a two-way street.
In addition, those nationals who offer the police relevant information, they must take it seriously and also not divulge the names of those who do. If their identity is not protected, nationals will fear retribution from criminals and will not confide in them.
To equip not only security officers but the rest of the civilians who are at risk everyday ,the government needs to look into changing the laws on this and allow us to protect ourselves ,to get simple articles to protect oneself you must obtain a permit and Im not speaking of firearms which the criminals have at their disposal , the fact is Dominica has changed and the laws need to do so as well to protect officers and civilians alike!!
