this is just the beginning . . .worse will come . .how long will we bury our head in the sand. Where they is no law and order . .there will be chaos!!a judiciary system that cannot protect it’s population is a joke. where the fear of being punished for a crime is non existent, law abiding citizens will turn into criminals themselves!!

People! one crime is one too many regardless of where we resides. Crime is crime where ever it is committed but with our people we are too quick to blame others and score cheap points by crying down our Law enforcers. If we are not part of the solution we are part of the problem. Crime solving is every one`s business. Dominicans wake up!!!!!

So, why should a man in DOMINICA walk around with $6000.00 on his neck? make no sense to me. He is very lucky!!!

We are not safe in DA like before. Last week a young man try to take my gold chain in Roseau in the middle of the day. A young boy take my daughter friend own in Roseau a about 10 pm on a friday night. And I hear so many case like that. Doesnt make sens to go by the police station and loose your time, those police not ready, they just dont care…. They prefere to be stand up by the bus stop and watch how those bus drivers park in the bus stop than to partol in Roseau. And when they arrest thieves, they bring them court and let them go like nothing happened. Dominica need a better police force and a better justice for all the victim of those crime. dominica need a big clean up !!! our children not safe anymore :(

ya right, how do you define safer? every body house of iron bars on them, not on mine where I live for the last 40 years and it is not DA

Many people who reside in big countries have been fortunate that nothing bad happened to them despite the fact there are more crimes per population. I would think that D/ca is no exception. There are reasons why some are targeted and others are not.

    I’m just wondering
are those crime stopper numbers toll free?

    Thank god noone died
I believe that we still have the lowest death toll (based on murders) in the Caribbean for the year yet again

Did you not know that when it was first implemented it is a toll free number? If it was not, no one would ever consider telephoning. All these important numbers are always toll free – 1-800. This is one way of getting people to call to report crimes. They may not do this otherwise.
To encourage callers who witnessed a crime and know and report the culprit(s), financial compensation is offered to those who do and the real criminal is apprehended, arrested and charged.. Your name will not be divulged.

One of the many things you could boast about Dominica was how safe you feel there. People could go to work and leave there door open no worries. You could walk home at any hour of the night no worries. We so far from that now. Dominica is no longer a safe place.

    • July 1, 2014

Well, but in a way, “safe” is relative. It’s like when that girl went off with a strange man in Aruba and he killed her. For weeks everyone said how dangerous Aruba must be, but if she’d done the same thing and gotten killed in Miami it wouldn’t even have made the news.

      • immigraniada
        July 1, 2014

of course in Miami it wont be a news whatsoever but level of crime can be measured not by the density of reports in the media but by proportion of reported crime vs size of population. So arguments like ‘ Dominica is safe place’ are retarded..Dominica is not safe place. Plus as potential victim one should remember that the chances that villain walks free from the Court are very high…please refer to the case of murdered Irishman…

ANYWHERE u go will have crime. Dominica is no different but we are still much much much safer than most. I prefer Dominica 100 times more than where I am right now.

God protects. Through the blessing and grace of God, especially if we pay him homage, pray to him and ask his protection, we will be safe.
I do not leave home without asking him to protect me and as I go on my way and about my business. Especially today, in view of increasing crimes, we are more aware of that.
My Blessed Holy Water is prominent in this, not only from criminals but from any wicked person, the latter who may not be a criminal who committed a crime or known criminal.
