There has been increase in the level of violence in Dominica but the Police Department says its investigations throughout the year have been good.
Several robberies have taken place this year, with the latest one at HHV Witchurch and Company in Portsmouth. Police have not yet disclosed
details of the incident or whether they have perpetrators; but said investigations are ongoing.
Police Chief Cyril Carrette has said 2011 has been a “good year” for police.
“I think the police have done a good job for the year,” he said, while warning against negative criticisms of police work.
“In every situation when it comes to investigation, you don’t investigate matters like you see happening on the television. That is show. You have to go down on the ground and get the evidence. You have to ensure that everything is done methodically,” Carrette stated.
The robbery at HHV Witchurch occurred Thursday night and follows what law officials have described as a recent spate of robberies on the island.
Mr Carrette December 25th 2011 will be exactly one year since GON Emmanuel’s house was firebombed, how is the investigation proceeding?
We need more police on the beat, they need to enforece the law also. We also need a police rapid response unit who can respose to crime in quck time.
