A Spanish speaking woman was arrested at the Melville Hall Airport on Tuesday morning with cash strapped to her body.
Reports indicate that the woman was leaving the island when she was searched and the money found.
It amounted to some $20,000.
The woman was immediately arrested.
The police are now investigating the matter and DNO will provide more information as it becomes available.
So the Dominican regular mules wise up since they hold the model in England so they using the easiest mules the vulnerable Spanish women, sad. Go ahead hit dislike botton
I recall reading on DNO about a Spanish woman (if I am not mistaken) who was residing in D/ca and that she had a shop at Goodwilll.
I asked what is she doing in Dominica and what caused her to migrate to Dominica. Some non-Dominicans go to Dominica with the hope of residing there. Did she get permission to reside in Dominica for a length of time?
Immigration you better do your work properly. Do not allow people without a work permit to remain in Dominica and to set up shop there. Some Dominicans are crying there are no jobs and non-D/cans are migrating to Dominica and appear to make a mint in Dominica. How long did she reside in Dominica and to obtain that amount of money?
She has to give a satisfactory answer why she was leaving Dominica with all that money and where she obtained it.
Was she returning to her homeland for good or was she going on a visit?
I wonder how far she thought she could go with that amount of money strapped to her body? She had to be in transit until she arrived at her destination. She could have been caught in another country or when she arrived in her homeland if this was her destination. We hope to hear more about this story.
all u really not EZ look jokes
that a good job for the police on the other hand y cant they raid the prostitution place in roseau and other places it right in there nostrils and they doing nothing about remember there was a cry about it seems everyone forget. there are soo much hooouses in da we need to clean that up
the woman just come out and make her little dinero and they just come and tie up the woman. but but but u know how much work she going to have to do to make that back? but allu want all the tread on her tires to finish man?
D N O need to get their story right befor the post on the web . northing they said is correct I was there and is plenty more money than that and it was not strapped to her body. they must wait for the new befor telling peoplelies
you are right I was there too and is not police that find it is daspa workers and the immigration at melille hall they very good down there they know what ther doing and no promotion for ther. mr carbon it is the Melville hall immigration and not the police force so big them up
Player you too retard, number one remember to change your name if you are going to pretend to be another person. Two, immigration officers are policemen.
Immigration is police too
Good job more needs to be done on the ferry terminal in roseau when it come out gwada, those me back doorr and those woman coming front door
Cocaine or cocaine money never changes its course, just changes offender people. But never the government says what does with many kilos of drug that caught and money that confiscate. Corruption and people are doing nothing. Corrupt liars.
Great job officers you need to do more of these searches.
Is hard earn Dominica man money they leave their families hungry and give the Spanish the money.
Stupps what you think they give it to her for free. She had to work for it too. She even wiser than some of us, we doing the same job and have nothing to show for it. At least she was able to save $20,000. Free the woman. Stuppss
but howwwww u vex?
If you come with nothing you could be sent back. If you come with plenty they could take it from you. Democracy we call it.
Ben Dong! your money is yours, but there is a proper way to transfer money.
Surely not strapped to the body. This makes it suspicious. She would have been better off placing it in her luggage.
She was going to take the money to the laundry.
Off shore business is booming here.
Spanish? $20,000.00 and you not declaring it? Woman i would just give you a hard slap. All you had to say was you made your money in the sex trade, NO one would question that. CHUPES
she couldn’t have said that because prostitution is illegal…. schedule 1 of the proceeds of crime act (POCA)# 16- prostitution is a listed offense
and is the police that paying them chicitas more!!!
but valda you not intelligent.
some black woman just stuiped
Valda always makes some outrageous comments. Are you all there Valda?
thank u bud man..i cant understand dat
Oh yeah! Some excuse!
dumb fool
Valda I know you was stupid but not this stupid, don’t you know about airport policies maybe you don’t travel much but it is hard to travel with over $10,000.00 without the right documentation. Plus like confused said prostitution is illegal in Dominica. No wonder your husband family didn’t come to your wedding stupid girl
I am very much surprised at the nature of the comments you make on DNO. I thought you were more r———- than that.
Coming to Dominica with such huge amounts of cash I’m sure is not a problem as long as it’s declared. Surely, the fact that the señorita hid it sends out alarm bells. It would be interesting to know her original port of departure. Well done to Mr Carbon and his Officers. God bless DOMINICA
Honey, the woman “was LEAVING the island” when the money was found strapped to her body. Re-read the story. It would appear that she was carrying out all the money she made from those macho upright men in Dominica who like Latino service and/or are tired of their wives. It was probably going to help her poor family in Santo Domingo.
The initial news item said, “she was coming in”.
The news never say that girl from dominican republic, cuba and venezuela is spanish speaking country too.
What???? All that money tax free???? I hope that it was all confiscated and used in our hospitals and schools!!! Thanks for the correction.
She was leaving Dominica with the money. She wasn’t entering the island
great Job Police, Customs and all others involved. You people are really doing a great job of late. Congrats to u all, Commissioner of Police, Comptroller of Customs and staff and others involved.
Tell it to them budman!
A spear to a pig sweet but when you is the pig it’s pain!
Merciless!
These Spanish women just come to take Dominican men money, and mess up relationships in DA…they are not contributing to anything substantial in the country….
these women don’t mess up relationships, Dominican men mess up relationships. secondly, they taking dominican men money cos they willing to do what Dominican women don’t want to do after dey past 35.
Salop those men salop. You doh have to kalay yourself left right and centre to enjoy your wife or husband. How come all of a sudden they not enjoying you how they met you. If you all want nastiness leave decent women for decent men
Correction….the Dominican men give them the money. The men who pay these women for sex are just sick and nasty. Plain and simple.
That must be the reason she came to Dominica.
I think we Dominican women need to pay more attention to our men. the Spanish are not breaking up relationships, these relationships were already broken.some of us wives go to sleep with tights, with the Spanish is the other way around
exactly. give the men the real loving that you gave them back when you were in your 20s and you wouldn’t have problems.
She should have been detained to determine what the purpose of this money was. The mere fact that she had it strapped to her body appears as though the intent was not to declare it. Very suspicious!
aye mami mucho dineros
Thought I read that the woman was leaving the Island? Am I the one getting it wrong?
Pls read the story – “Reports indicate the woman was leaving the island when she was searched and the money found”
When the news first broke out, DNO said that she was coming in. I figure they edited the article.
It’s called money laundering. You don’t declare it!
DNO – what’s with the phrase a “spanish speaking woman”? that’s not a nice way to describe anyone… there are more apt/ appropriate phrases that could have been used. Just seems so wrong on different levels.
why not just say a nation of? or a non Dominican citizen or something else.
Not sure if I can’t read or what …the comments are talking about the woman coming in with the money – and the news article says leaving Dominica.
Either ways- that’s way too much cash. Isnt the limit $10000 almost everywhere?
I think they lady was leaving the country not coming to the country so the rules on declaring are different. The police is going to have to give her back her money because they are too quick to arrest. they should have alerted immigration at her destination and if she did lie on the immigration form at that moment then they would take action.they should follow the money if they wanted more results.
Free Thinker, it does not work like that. She was caught with money strapped to her body. This is suspicious. She caused it. The police did not err. The police had the right to arrest her and to confiscate the money in Dominica. She should not even be allowed to leave Dominica until it is ascertained where she got the money from, i.e., how did she obtain it and what was she going to do with it when she arrived at her destination.
Furthermore, with that amount of money, if she obtained it by whatever means she must pay income tax on it prior to leaving Dominica. Therefore, it appeared that she was cheating Inland Revenue which means nationals.
Do you recall as posted on DNO that a Dominican woman who was travelling to the U.K. (was it last year?) was caught in Antigua with some thousands of dollars in her luggage, much more than what this Spanish woman had on her? It was confiscated by the Antiguan police. She was allowed to travel without the money.
I wondered what happened to her case and the money and if it was returned to her.
If it was legal money, obtained legally and if per chance it was returned to her she would have had to pay income tax on it from the point of origin, Dominica.
Then there is the matter of leaving D/ca, not declaring it and also in Antigua. Whatever is not declared is liable to be confiscated, just as other items.
Was the Antigua legal system as the police honest about it? It would be interesting to know.
Dno was the woman leaving or coming?earlier on your report said that the woman was “coming in to the island” now i’m reading that the woman was leaving the island.which is it?
what is the real story there?these comments are they related to the story,or some of us just too fast?
Read before some of you comment.
I did not go to much school butthe little i was able to read say the lady was LEAVING the country. Please read before u post anything about the lady entering the country. She maybe is the manager of the Dominica Hairy Bank Unlimited open 24 – 7
read and understand, she was leaving the island.bodya oy
. she make her money and she going back.
One thing, it have plenty of comedians in Dominica and DNO giving all u plenty platform to sharpen your skills at comedy.
the lady was not entering the country she was leaving
Wow
Someone should have advised her to put this on a disposable card. You come you withdraw and you done.
FBI can u please get ur story correct t before putting it out.the information u have is false
Is she a business woman was it EC or US something very fishy. Watch them close poisoning our young people minds with their porn. Dollars for porn videos.
Agree with you, many of them are wanted in the USA, and other countries for than porn business and other crimes, also that cash for gold business, with all that cash hidden on her body,if she was not employed in DA and carrying all that cash on her she was involved in some illegal activities
So are we blindly assuming that this about porn? What about just simple money laundering? Porn isn’t illegal, therefore people wouldn’t go to this extreme to hide money that could be easily, and legally, deposited.
yes anon u are quite porn is illegal in dominica
The woman comung with money into the country and u all arrested her chippppsssssss
She was leaving the island
“Reports indicate that the woman was “leaving the island” when she was searched and the money found”
SMDH.. READ b4 u comment..
U cah read? Dumb a**? She was leaving de country
Take your time to read; she was leaving the country with the cash and if that money was legally acquired she would not be hiding it
She was leaving!
Read properly nuh!
cha!
You ever hear about money laundering and paying dfor drug supplies in cash? It is illegal to travelin or out of Dominica carrying more than E.C.$.10,000 in cash but maybe we don’t care about laws anymore.
The globalist carry millions but they don’t want you to be able to carry much of anything. Nothing like the double standard and class system……..the elite who are above the law and then the rest of us……who are subject to many laws. Does something seem a little off here?
COMING INTO
you need to read befor u post any comment
“Reports indicate that the woman was leaving the island when she was searched and the money found.”
Maybe you should read the article before commenting.
cant you READ she was LEAVING
no she was leaving the country not coming into the country so she was taking away the money
NO she’s leaving DA with the money.
A@ Shortboy read the article again; “Reports indicate that the woman was leaving the island when she was searched and the money found.
It amounted to some $20,000.”
but they have to i doh want my finger print on noo god damn drugs money but a.a nuh u STUPID or someting
So tell us where the senorita was comin from nuh! maybe Venezuella or some South American Country. She heard how we Dominicans love loans and grants, so she was just trying to be generous. Was the money address to any politician? jus asking.
I am sure it would sound like sweet music in your ear if the report said it was headed for or from Skerrit. “Bat kow”. Everything does not have to be politics.
You guilty nuh? Who mentioned skerritt? Is skerritt the only politician on the Island? You sound like a politician to me
I don’t see what the problem is. when two of our nationals were caught with large sums in the neighbouring island of Antigua, many of us said it was wrong for the Antiguan govt to arrest and confiscate. I have to assume that we would reprimand our Govt for doing the same to a Spanish woman entering our jurisdiction with even less money than what was found in both cases in Antigua.
Dominica is where she came from… she was leaving the Island! Probably a prostitute from DR.
Have you ever heard of the anti-money laundering act? You are suppose to declare any amount of $10000 or more. I guess she didn’t want to declare it and explain her source of funds…go figure.
oh i have heard of it. in fact its in place in every single island. however, last year and the year before that when two dominicans in separate incidences were arrested in Antiguan while contravening the same Act, parrots were on this site saying how de Antiguan government wrong. hypocrisy.
dno did you even verify this before running with it
what currency?
Her crime is her failure to declare the money and not the amount or having it.
@Dominiquen learn to read properly. She was leaving the island.
@shortboy sorry
a country has laws . In this independence celebrations people will try to sneak and do anything. Happens all over. Let the law do their job.
Thant’s right, she is suppose to declare any monies amounting to $10000 or more.
Strap to her waist? She didn’t earn it legal
EC or USD
What happen to all you cat got your tongues. What boy no comments from the Da population, oh let me think, that must be the PM fault or Mr Linton. or perhaps it is not gossippi enough.
Ok,Soooooo what was so suspicious about her why she was searched?
AND So what if cash was strapped to her?? Big Deal. If its not drugs its cash now? The Country Hard!!!! And y’all thumbs me down my word stands.
If it was in her purse, and she had declared it stating a legitimate source of funds, i.e. how she obtained that money and it is legal, then it would not be a problem. But the mere fact that she had it strapped to her body made her suspicious.
