Shaddai is reportedly missing since November 30
Shaddai is reportedly missing since November 30

The mother of a 14-year-old secondary school student is seeking the public’s help in locating her missing daughter who left school over 10 days ago and has not been seen since.

Sandra Jno Baptiste of Mahaut told Dominica News Online (DNO) that her daughter, Shaddai Jno Baptiste, told her school that she was feeling unwell on Monday 30th November 2015 and as a result, was sent home to recover.

“I send her school and she told the school she is sick and then the school send her home and from time the school send her home, I wasn’t even there, I was at the Salisbury Primary School. When I come I didn’t meet her home,” she said.

The distressed mother remarked when she arrived home in Mahaut on the day her daughter went missing, a man told her he saw Shaddai “running down the road.”

“What I had I just drop it down, I just run go like a crazy woman and I all Roseau looking for her,” she stated.

She noted that she was told that her daughter was sighted at the Marigot Bus Stop and at CHANCES in Portsmouth, but all attempts to locate her has been unsuccessful.

“I am really concerned about her, I am really concerned…,” she said.

Jno Baptiste all she wants is for the daughter to return home.

“I just want to say that I want her to come back home, she not keeping me happy at all,” she stated.

She said she has been on a one-woman mission of finding her daughter.

Anyone with information can contact Jno Baptiste at 316-8346.

A police report has been made in the matter.

Same Dominica. Nothing has really changed. If I recall correctly – A couple girls had gone into the hills with some dreadlocks guys in Portsmouth (spooky Portsmouth), and it was news that they were taken/missing. Guess they consented to such adventure. If you raise your kids right you’ll know what they are capable of 99% of the time.

Ever notice that it is usually a girl who is missing not a boy?

DNO usually does not tell us he reason even after they return. However, it is suspected the “disappearance” reflects turmoil within the home or emotional distress on the part of the child.

This would explain why the mother waited 10 days before reporting her missing. She expected her to walk in the door any minute.

The child’s alleged sickness at school may have been caused by emotional distress caused by whatever took place at home. However, the girl did not return home because the problem had not been settled and the circumstances still existed. What ever was wrong she did not confide in the school authorities which suggests it was of a private nature or not something the child felt comfortable telling her teachers about.

Let us pray she will return home unharmed and not be taken advantage of by somebody.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

I am asking Christians to join me in prayer that the precious Blood of Christ will protect young Shaddia and all the children on the island, and that God will grant Shaddai an inner healing and give her peace.

Shaddai! What a beautiful name. It means one who nourishes and sustains. This is God’s purpose for her life. God has a purpose for the life of each and every child. They are so precious to Him.

“Lord Jesus, we pray you will protect Shaddai and return her to her home. Grant her inner healing, and give her peace. Likewise bless all the children in Dominica. In Jesus’ name we rebuke Satan and every demon that would destroy them, and every wicked person who would harm them. We plead your Blood Blood for their safety. Also bless Shaddai’s mother. Give the grace of your peace. Amen.”

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

I’ve got to wonder about the truth in that statement; cause when my son is ill the school calls me to collect him.

One phone call! Mom I’M home ,at school I was not feeling well so the Teacher sent me home Children younger on the street unsocial hours, why the Teachers. At home there must be rules, everybody must respect the home where we live in, it is ours. You were born a woman, you were born a man These are the words parent use for there children. Amazingly! The women who cannot bring up children are the ones who make 15 and 16 “mama wadin”

In a perfect world, you could blame the school for sending home the child without notifying the parent but not in Dominica. I pass little kids on the road and they barely reaching up to my KNEES walking to and from school. So if the school sees the parent once a year and the child known to be going home , coming school, doing everything on their own. Why would they call the parent this time.

I hope her disappearance has nothing to do with internet friendship. What caused her to tell a lie and disappear? She is obviously with someone.
I hope she returns soon or is found intact.
Girl, you should be considerate of your mother and not put her through this anxiety and stress over you. I hope you telephone her soon and return home safely.
The police is notified. They should be out there looking for her and inquiring about her.
Last evening, a seven year-old boy walked out of his Ontario home at 7:00 pm after an argument with his family. So far he is not yet found. When he did not return by 11:00 pm, the parents notified the police. It is winter and it is dark at 5:00 pm. I heard on the News that the police are looking for him and set up a command post in that area. Tonight, I have not yet heard if he is found.
In another area a fourteen year-old girl is missing.
Some of them run away from home. Fortunate for them if they are found safely.

Why would a mother waited 10 days to report her daughter is missing only if she had done it before. If someone is keeping this child at his or her home its wrong she’s a minor, send her home to her mother.

    December 10, 2015

Well, well, well schools have responsibilities papa.
If a child is sick the school is not a hospital. I know the parents are called and if the parents
are not found the child is sent home and the parent is asked to call the school when the child arrives. Maybe the mother should be asked some more questions. Only after ten days!

Come on Dominica. Wake up to the reality of this world.
How can a school send home a child who says she is sick all by hreself.
some responsibly adult shoud come and sign the child out and take her home
So who is responsible? Who will be held accountable?
      This is madness.
Dominica needs to be more civilized than this.
Let the school take the responsibility to go and get the child.
Mother,go to the Ministry of Education.
If your child was at school. the school should be held accountable.

I work in a school……. hence the reason why WE NEVER SEND HOME CHILDREN BY THEMSELVES… their parents/guardians are informed……… and if either can’t come, they must inform the office WHO IS COMING TO PICK UP the student…… AND WE RECORD EVERYTHING to include time………….

I hope that she is found soon and unharmed

Did the police ever put out a missing person’s report (…always assuming, of course that her mother reported her missing to the relevant authorities in the first place).

  37. December 10, 2015

Firstly the did the school inform the mother of the child feeling unwell secondly with all that’s going on now the best thing is parents collect their kids from school when they report that they are unwell the I bet the results would be different just my thoughts

    • Dominican
      December 10, 2015

Hmm how many parents have the liberty to “collect” their teenager from school? Do you think her job allowed her to do that? A teenager should be responsible to get home from school or contact her mother or somebody is something is wrong. Stop blaming people for everything let people take their responsibility stupessssssssss

      • faith
        December 10, 2015

The school should at least contact her mothet to say that she is unwell and is on her way home
The morher would make the decision whether she wants to pick her up or not.

u people so stupid it not funny,,,a child is sick or claims she is sick,,,its the responsibility of a parent to pick up a sick child,,,why in the world would you want a school to send home a sick child on her own? so of u people mentality is so dumb it aint funny,,a set of stupid people with no common sense commenting here
How u so dumb to even state that a teenager who is unwell should be responsible enough to to get home,,,de dam child sick so she should be accompanied by somone,,just reading some of these comments make me wonder,,,a set of tehbeh talking crap,,,,

    • BusyBeeAquarian
      December 10, 2015

      I agree with you.

It has always been school’s procedure that a parent or guardian collect an unwell child and NEVER allow her to go home on her own.

      How times are changing.

    • just saying
      December 10, 2015

If the child was really feeling unwell ,whether the mother collected her from school or not she should have gone straight home.Children these days just like to give parents esp mothers too much problems.I pray for her safety though.

And has the Police put out an Island wide search for the young lady and did the school informed the Mother that the child was ill and depending on her condition wasn’t the hospital the best place to take her too instead of sending her home.
