Two months behind bars or $800 for ganja

Cedric Isaac will have to pay the court $800 by the end of August or spend two months behind bars.

The St Joseph  man appeared before Magistrate Candia George at the Roseau Magistrate Court Tuesday morning and pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

According to the fact of the case from police prosecution, on July 8, police went to the home of the defendant in St. Joseph where they met the defendant and issued him with a warrant to search his home. While executing the search at his dwelling place, police allegedly found 45 grams of marijuana.

Before handing down the sentence, Magistrate George cautioned the defendant about the effects of Marijuana.

In handing down the sentence, Magistrate George considered that the defendant pleaded guilty and did not waste the court’s time. The fact that Isaac had no previous convictions also worked in his favor.

nastiness that running the world, you don’t see all politicians legalising gay marriage cause they want votes and some of their ministers on the down low so they will support that and an important herb as marijuana cannot be legalised.i would really like to know where dominica get those retarded judges and lawyers that say they study.that sentencing is ridiculus.i guess holland was smart enough to legalise marijuana because it is a tourist attraction and it is a huge investment to the country.we are an independent country and i guess these are some of the things we should look into, but i guess our small minded and wicked politicians rather kiss a** and beg venezuela, cuba and china for their pocket change and take halve for themselves for their personal use while people suffer

FROM THE HUFFINGTON POST “I recommend an excellent documentary film, “What if Cannabis Cured Cancer,” by Len Richmond, which summarizes the remarkable research findings of recent years about the cancer-protective effects of novel compounds in marijuana. Most medical doctors are not aware of this information and its implications for cancer prevention and treatment.”- ANDREW WEIL, M.D.

“A Hugely Important Film”– JULIE HOLLAND, M.D. NYU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

“A Must See Film”– MARIJUANA POLICY PROJECT, WASHINGTON, D.C.

Using original and archival footage, the 60 minute documentary presents highly convincing evidence that this forbidden herb has healing properties beyond any other plant on the planet— interacting as it does with the body’s own “endocannabinoid system” to keep us fit and disease-free. “What if Cannabis Cured Cancer” explains how we are all born with a form of marijuana already in our bodies, and when pot is consumed, the “endocannabinoids” inside us—along with any cannabinoids we ingest—fit together like a key in a lock, thereby promoting the death of cancer cells without harming the body’s healthy cells. A powerful and eye-opening film about the future of cannabis—and perhaps even the future of medicine. Narrated by Emmy-winning actor, PETER COYOTE.

Comedy Puppet Short included on DVD: “Kurt Cannabis Meets Connie Cancer” – an outrageous bit of puppet theater, imagining a comical meeting, somewhere in the liver, between the mean, bitchy, diva, “Connie Cancer” (voiced by Roseanne Barr), and the cool, hip, and rather wise, Kurt Cannabis (Malcolm McDowell).

Could you imagine Candia George talking about the effects of marijuana???? Magistrate George what are the effects? Are you aware that Cannabis has a variety of beneficial, medicinal properties that conventional pharmaceutical companies dont want piblicized because it will cut into their profit margin!

Are you aware that cannabis has shown to help patients with glaucoma, Parkinson’s, depression….

Like ‘ magwe ca’ stated look to the legalization of the HERB. I am also not in support of vagabonds sitting by the roadside with nothing to do and smoking. Do your stuff in the privacy of your home!

the court is wasting it’s own time by taking up matters as trivial as the posession of a plant. For them to seriously talk about legalizing marijuana, they talking about legalizing bogarr. weh weh weh!
