UPDATE: Alleged suicide in Pottersville

The man was reportedly found hanging in house
The man was reportedly found hanging in a house

Police are said to be investigating reports of an alleged suicide in the community of Pottersville that occurred over the weekend.

Sergeant Pellam Jno Baptiste of the Police Public Relations Committee told Dominica News Online (DNO) that the alleged suicide was reported at about 9.15 am on Sunday 6th December 2015.

“Julian George, 57-year-old male of 52 Potters Street in Pottersville, was found in a crouching position with one end of an electrical cord tied around his neck and the other one secured to an exposed steel rod from the concrete roof to the apartment where he resided,” he said.

The scene was processed by the crime scene team of the Criminal Investigations Department following which George was transported to the accident and emergency department of the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where he was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

A coroner’s inquest will be convened.

“Investigations are ongoing,” Jno Baptiste added.

Earlier this year another suspected suicide was reported in the Pottersville community. Reports are that the body of Russell Carbon was found hanging in a bedroom by his girlfriend.

It’s amazing how everyone seems to know what the individual was going through, how spiritual/non-spiritual he was…my goodness a family is now hurting where’s the sympathy, empathy, respect and or even compassion??? What has society become???
DNO this photo is totally absurd blurred or not blurred~shame on you!!!
May God be with this family as they go through this time of trials. Rest in Peace Manzi.

He was 57 years old. What could have caused this? What my mind tells me, those who knew him will give an account of him to the police who will be performing the investigation.
We read of these occurrences and then hear nothing else.
He has a family. It is sad when people die of natural causes. Worst yet when they die in such a manner. My heartfelt sympathy to his family. You are not alone. God is with you providing his consolation to each one of you who are grieving his loss.
God is the judge. May his soul rest in peace.

For those of you who continue to meddle with the practice of witchcraft, voodoo, obeah and necromancy please beware. You are doing your dirty deeds behind the shadows and pushing people to do things that are simply far from their nature such as suicides and violent crimes. You soocooyahs and loogahoos who run about in the night doing untold wickedness to people and their children are despicable. You believe that your roles in causing these unspeakable occurrences and behaviors are hidden but they are not. To the untrained eye it may seem like just another senseless act but to the ones who are blessed with the “eyes” to see it is clear that the presence of pure evil was involved and left traces. And to those of you who continue to visit “the Haitian man or lady” for solutions to your problems with relationships, money, enemies, etc., shame on you. When the Haitian fellow turned into a goat right in front of your eyes you should have known that these things are not of GOD.

Medication on God and praying to him. Practicing the faith is the best form of meditation. It surpasses all others that are not of God.
The Holy Bible could be used as a form of meditation on the Word of God.

during the uwp administration there was a series of murder suicides in the country and the decease roosie douglas put the blame for that on the uwp so why should skerrit not be blamed now?

When people die, God will not ask them about the PM and what he did or did not do. God will ask them about themselves. How they lived, what have they done for others, and for their country. By this everyone will be judged. Let them keep blaming the PM and not themselves. They will have much to answer to God for. Some of them will never pay heed and learn that.

DNO, there was no need to bring up Russell Carbon’s name again in your last paragraph.

A better way to phrase it would have been, ” Earlier this year another alleged suicide was reported in the Pottersville area. This brings it to a total of 2 alleged suicides in Pottersville and _______suicides in Dominica for the year 2015.”

That would have been a more tasteful conclusion to your news story without bringing up Mr. Carbon’s name again. And no, I’m not related to Mr. Carbon in any way. I don’t even know the guy. Just trying to show you alternative ways of writing without dragging up the dead.

    Pleasant day to you.

    Frustration :?:

    • December 7, 2015

      @Mz. Matt December 7, 2015

Frustration is definitely not the reason for suicide, or else there would no human being in this world.

But the lack of Faith and Trust in God, which should motivate Hope–the desire to live–is the reason for suicide, because the person who commits suicide believes that it is the answer to his or her troubles; the lie from that god of death–we all know his name.

do not diagnos people and send them home. crazy crazy crazy.

  14. December 6, 2015

If there one aspect of necessity that mankind is lacking it is the virtue of Hope. The lack of Hope is what provokes the traits of darkness, futility, and negativity–which leaves those who are lacking hope no desire for the beauty of Life.

I say necessity, because Hope is greater than luxury, for Hope is of the Spirit while luxury is materialistic. Many people live in luxury, but self is as empty and dark as death–material things cannot fit the place of Hope

Maybe you are asking what is the fulfilment of Hope then?

Hope is the desire of Life, regardless of the force of the storm in Life; Hope takes the driver’s seat, guided by faith–Life will go on as forceful as it has to be, for those who have the Living Hope.

Unfortunately, for too many, the mind is without Faith, hence without Hope. Why?

The mind lacking Faith & Hope, does not know Life–larking knowledge of God and His LOVE– for God gives Life–His Primary Nature, Love, the Light of Soul.

    • December 7, 2015

Suicide is a motivation of the flesh, the seed of the human senses, fed to the mind. With a mind in its carnal condition, that motive takes power, Jesus tells us: “The thief comes to still, kill, and destroy”

Young people are the most vulnerable to the command of suicide, for the enemy knows the weakness of their mind, not being mature enough to know the traits of Life and to accept it.

Hence the darkness of death easily takes over, the voice says there is no use; so get out of this empty existing. What the accepting person does not know, suicide is not the food of fulfillment–but Life in Love is.

Some of us claim to be God’s Servants, but doing what we were called to do; far too many people are existing in their death condition, solely ruled by their human senses, for fleshly gratification.

For there is a huge difference between the things of the world and the things of Life in Love–no one would desire to get out of Life, if they are in it.

      • December 8, 2015

Some of us claim to be God’s Servants, “but doing what we were called to do”–this should have read “not doing what we were called to do”

Another suicide in Pottersville? A few people have recently committed suicide. We can deduce they have problems which they are unable to cope with. Everyone experiences problems. Due to that, is it worth taking your life?
Our Lord said: “In this world you will have troubles. Take heart I have conquered the world.” He still tells us and will continue to, that earthly troubles are temporary and in time we will overcome them with His divine assistance, if we call on Him.
Faith, hope and trust are required when people believe that everything is wrong in their life and it looks gloomy..
Those who experience problems which they are not able to cope with, please find someone trustworthy you can confide in. Always ask for help, be it counseling.
There will come a time that everyone will need a helping hand in whatever manner. It is important that those who approach us and vice versa are ever willing to lend a listening, patient ear.

  16. Face the Facts
    December 6, 2015

If we are not able to assist, offer relevant counseling, refer the person to someone, one in authority who will be able to assist.
They talk about no one, no child left behind. Then this is the God-given opportunity to assist those who are in dire need of our help. They do not need admonishment which is not what they are seeking at such a time. They are in need of help, be it guidance and counseling and this is what they should receive, one human being to another.
We still pray and hope that God who knows what occurred in this person’s life which caused the person to do such a thing, had mercy on the soul. Judging is God; not ours.
There is a saying “God is greater than any problem I have.” Everyone should keep this in mind. In times of adversity, there is no problem that God cannot solve and heal with our cooperation. He said, “Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door will be opened.”
Those in need should do just that.

“In this world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”–John 16: 33

At Face the Facts those words are truly the words of Jesus, God’s Person in Love, but the question is how many people of the world have read or heard those words, spoken by Jesus and many more like it in the Holy Bible? And yet Jesus said: “The Words which I speak are Spirit and they are Life”. For Life belong in the soul of man, not his physical body.

Mankind is wandering the Earth in the body, many are glamorously attired, but all are spiritually bankrupt.
Spiritual bankruptcy defines a person with no faith, no hope, no Love –hence no God and the knowledge of Life, for all of those attribute comes from Him.

Suicide is the food from man’s enemy–the devil himself–that feeding tells it victim taking his or her Life is the best solution–what a disgusting lie!

      • December 7, 2015

Unfortunately this food of death is mostly fed to those who are most vulnerable, with the weaker condition of the mind–in the young, the confused, the old or anyone who is desperately searching for answers, but does not know where to go from the spot at which they presently are.

As human beings we need a mind condition which can accept that our troubles of existence are only temporary; we need a mind condition which can accept that God must train and discipline our attitude and conduct, for the sake of Life in us, demonstrating His glory in Love.

We need the mind condition which can accept that difficult circumstance will not last forever, as the apostle Paul reminds us that: “tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance brings , character; and character brings hope. and hope does not disappoint–for that virtue is of Love the Life from God in us–when we have it., But then again, not knowing the Life in Love is the reason for suicide–good Lord!

Simply put, they heard it in Church when the Gospel was read. Some did not pay attention. Some may have ceased going to church. Some may never have gone to church to hear it. I will have to know the entire story to draw a further conclusion.
The devil does much to humanity, even when they criticize others for doing their utmost to speak/write the truth. Everyone has a different view and viewpoint.
It is sad that he took his life. Those who were close to him may have an idea why he chose that way out.
Life is strange. We never know which way the ball rolls and when or how the table turns, when we least expect it. You never know what a person is going through. Human nature is unpredictable. A person’s mind could snap in a wink of an eye. One must not be too presumptuous.
Let us pray that we never entertain such a thought much more to carry it out. We ask God to assist us accordingly. He, in turn expects us to be compassionate.

Tell us something about yourself. Were you born immaculate? Have you lived an immaculate life? Are you presently doing so? Never sinned? Never made an error, etc., etc., etc. .
Saints are in Heaven; not on earth.. As long as we live, we are liable to sin in whatever manner. This may not entail sins of the flesh. No one should deceive him/herself otherwise. God knows better than I do.

Further sign of a nation that has fallen far away from God. The bad thing about this national fallout, is the fact that the church, the holy institution that people with problems could once run to. Like all major institutions in the country, the church has become corrupt, polluted, and political and has no answer whatsoever. In fact to be blunt about it, the church is the worse of them all whether they are Pentecostal, Baptist, Catholic, CUM, Methodist, Anglican, Adventist, I mean all have been polluted by the powers that be. Just imagine a lay minister could hold the bible in his hand, while blatantly lying about ownership of villas! To make matters worse, after the lay minister was exposed, his pastor, spiritual advisor they called him, had the audacity to sign for that case to go to high court, when he knew his member was lying. Can you turn to these guys when you need help?

    • December 7, 2015

      @I, Me, & I Alone December 6, 2015

You, yourself, have a mind of corruption, which I have discerned, by simply reading your language above. In the first place you are claiming to be better than the people of those churches, which you mentioned here.–there is noe question about this.

Secondly, you do not know the Truth of Life, if you think that another human being, like yourself, has the answer for your distorted existence. Well he doesn’t!

Whether it be pope, pastor, bishop, or priest–they are all men with the need to settle their Salvation and to exist with the Life in Love–God alone, and Him alone can do that for them–the same is for you.

And one more thing! No one will be accountable to God on your behalf, before God’s final Judgment Seat. For He will want to hear from you, and your alone. Just think about that!

    • Face the Facts
      December 8, 2015

The Church are the people. If you are a member of a church, you are the church. So you are speaking on yourself and about yourself.
How many ever prayed for those whom they speak ill of? Do you not think that God will also hold you accountable for that? People who never helped the church, who follow their own ways, doing what they want, living whatever lifestyle they wish to and later on they blame the church authorities.
Does God not know you and your past and present life? When you blame others “take a good look at yourself.” This is what I have to inform everyone who has much to say against the church. I am informing you, those who do, do not please God.
One day people will pay for their words as embedded in their hearts, minds and souls.

It is still alleged hanging. Who knows? Someone could have done that to him.
Do you recall an article on DNO the week prior to TS Erika? A man in Colihaut was found with his hands tied to the chesterfield? It appears he drank something poisonous or it was given to him. He was a blind; seventy five years of age. Surely he could not have done that to himself..
I wonder what happened to the police investigation?
