Update: Police seek help in their search for missing men

The police are seeking help from the public in locating two men from Yampiece who went missing on Saturday March 10, 2012 in what appears to be a case of kidnapping.

DNO spoke to the girlfriend of one of the men who said she received information that the incident occurred on Saturday night.

According to her, she got information on Tuesday that her boyfriend and another man, who is about 16 years old, were on the side of the road when they were approached by a man with a gun.

She said the two were ordered into a vehicle and they have not been seen since.

However the young woman indicated that she became very concerned on Tuesday when she did not hear anything from her boyfriend and word began to surface that the two men were reportedly kidnapped.

“It was then I got the whole story,” she stated.

She said she then made a report to the police.

The Dominican Police has a lot on their hands. Last evening someone, not in DA, told me about what happened to those guys and the reason why they were kidnapped. I do hope that they are not being ill-treated and will be found alive.
Based on the story, those who kidnapped them are totally wrong. They have taken the Law into their hands and this is illegal. If they are caught they will be arrested and charged and for forcible confinement. I do hope that they did not harm them.
Whoever you are who kidnapped them, please treat them well. Give them some good food to eat. Then let them go. Never deny anyone the basics of life and treat them as you expect others to treat you.
Know that God is watching you and is displeased with you for kidnapping them. If you had a complaint against them, you should have gone to the Police and not kidnap them or harm anyone else. You, too, will one day pay the price of what you have done for “Two wrongs do not make a right.” You must never take the Law into your hands for you, too, will be considered a wicked person, a criminal and that you are no better than they are. I hope that you will be caught. For God’s sake, free those men or man and child!

I am confused. Too many people seem to know (we could say that they suspect) what happened. Would those witnesses come forth and provide information to the police or are they scared to speak up for fear of retaliation? Guess people are making assumptions but based on the above comments someone or some people know what happened. While some think the 2 young men might have deserved what happened if society allows those evils to continue it can only get worse. The young men have relatives and God loves them like HE loves us all. LET us come together to Build the nation. Our silence or lack of action today may bring doom to those we love later. Nip it in the butt.

peeping you cant compare them with shannice but they are human beings just like anyone else. they are citizens of dominica, so therefor it should be the state including the public responsibility to find these guys inspite of their reputaion/police rercord. i could guarantee you that if it was an american citizen who got kidnapped here, the dominica police force would put all their effort in finding them. how would you feel if it was you sons that were kidnapped and the police force not showing interest in finding them for what ever reason. shame on dominica police force. shame on carette, shame, shame shammmmmmmmmmme :( :( :(

People blaming everybody, but those criminals. This is why crimes continues to happen. When boys do wrong things, the blame goes to the mother and the government, they deed goes unpunished until the boy(s)are grown and the real crimes begin…. the blame remains the same……Crimes will always happen, because educated people blame this ot that government, and no justice is done. Well the Bible says IF YOUR RIGHT HAND OFFEND YOU CUT IT OFF… wHAT IS HAPPENING????

    PROVERBS 22V6.

TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY OF THE LORD THAT WHEN HE GETS OLD HE WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT.

    Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go
    As Abraham trained up his children, and those born in his house, in the way of the Lord, in the paths of justice and judgment; which are the ways in which they should go, and which will be to their profit and advantage; see ( Genesis 14:14 ) ( 18:19 ) ; and which is the duty of parents and masters in all ages, and under the present Gospel dispensation, even to bring such who are under their care in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, ( Ephesians 6:4 ) ; by praying with them and for them, by bringing them under the means of grace, the ministry of the word, by instructing them in the principles of religion, teaching them their duty to God and man, and setting them good examples of a holy life and conversation; and this is to be done according to their capacity, and as they are able to understand and receive the instructions given them: “according to the mouth of his way” F19, as it may be literally rendered; as soon as he is able to speak or go, even from his infancy; or as children are fed by little bits, or a little at a time, as their mouths can receive it; and when he is old he will not depart from it;
not easily, nor ordinarily; there are exceptions to this observation; but generally, where there is a good education, the impressions of it do not easily wear off, nor do men ordinarily forsake a good way they have been brought up in F20; and, however, when, being come to years of maturity and understanding, their hearts are seasoned with the grace of God, they are then enabled to put that in practice which before they had only in theory, and so continue in the paths of truth and holiness.”

Our Government need to spend some money to get some of the young men off the streets and into something constructive. Build some skills training centres, etc. too many young handsome men are on the streets sitting idle. look how handsome and promising these men are. An idle mind is a devil’s workshop, and the devil will find work for idle hands to do. Our youth are the future, if we do not invest in them now our future will be very gloom. i am from Dominica but live overseas. a couple years ago i came to D/A and was hanging out at the bayfront. there were a group of young boys swimming and trying to catch some fish. they were about 11 /12. after being in the water for so long i guess they were hungry. they came up to me and ask for money to go to the market to buy hot dogs. i told them i didnt have any change. one of them told me that i should not trust one of the other guys with money, give him a $5 or $10 he but hotdogs and bring back my change. they begged and promised me faithfully. i gave them the money and up till now i am still waiting for my change.Parents teach your children well, know where they are at all times, check their rooms when they are not around, do a house search once in a while. take them to church and put them under the blood of Jesus cause the rate that this world is going, only the GRace of God will keep them safe from all harm and danger. The devil want to destroy our seed. Let us help put the devil to an open shame. the devilis a liar. Young people you need to help yourselves too. Go to school , learn, study your books, get a career, a job and work hard for your money and settle down. Drugs and fast money will take you to an early grave. you are your biggest enemy. God bless you all.

the dominica police force is too corrupt. the other day when shanice jemmot went missing, they took it as a major reponsiblity to find her. they were putting up her photos in all the communities. they were all over the media seeking information. why? because her father is a police. now two young men went missing and they are being tight lipped. they are not putting the effort that was used for finding shanice in place to find these guys. shame on dominica police force. they are so bias. shame on all you.

Illegitimate? I think the bigger issue is too many children born to very young mothers who are only children themselves. Before they can grow up and take responsibility for their life they have a child. So you have children raising children most times with low paying jobs.

Instead the prime minister build a new state house,we need a bigger prison,so we can find the criminals guilty, and put them behind bars for a very long time.the justice system in Dominica is using the law to make money, and not to bring justice to the people who are hurting.Dominica is the only country that u don’t get the maximum sentence for crime, and I will say its the government fault, cause they are not using the law the right way.I want my tax dollars to feed this criminals. In the time of u follow he use to make good use. Of the law.we had Douglas that judge from Portsmouth he was doing a great job .the government took him off.the prison was getting overcrowded, that is why they took him out.we need him back so justice can be serve to the maximum.we need a bigger prison.I vote for this government ,but they are very corrupt.I,m not voting for them no more.I,m not feeling safe in my island no more.Dominica has the most murder in the Caribbean now.I’m telling my friends and family don’t come to Dominica, because its not a safe place no more.sorry but its the truth.in Dominica if u get sentence for ten years you only getting five years,so that is half time, because they counting the daylight as one day ,and the night as another day.only inr Dominica this nonesense happen.we have to uprise against this wrong doing of this administration. .

The only excuse i can come up with for him is that….maybe he was caught off guard….if not what an idiot.

Hope he isn’t a reflection of the rest of the police force….cause if he is, we are in serious trouble.

After listening to the mother of one of the missing men on Q95, undoubtedly, the CID and police have enough leads to make certain arrest in the case. It really sounds like a case of vigilante gone too far. Also, it is fair to say that our police have dropped the ball from day one, knowing all the culprits involved. How on earth can this be allowed on such a small island, with fewer than 75K, where everyone knows everyone in their communities? The abduction and “maybe” foul play of the young men, continued high rate of crimes, are a reminder that our beloved Nature isle is definitely at the next level from top to bottom. It’s time for action and less talk.

    • I'mWondering
      March 16, 2012

You do know that the “leads” alone canot equate an arrest. It’s not a thing about assumptions. They need proof that the people were involved – not he say she say.

You are saying that the police dropped the ball knowing all the culprits involved. Do you know whwtehr or not the alledged culprits were interviewed, whether they are being monitored, whetehr they are suspects?

Do you know anything, or did you just listen to an interview of a distraught mother and believe all that you hear?

I’m sure that these 2 boys were not accidentally kidnapped or innocently taken. There was a plan by whoever took them, to take them – only they know the reasons.

if the police have enough evidence, whether it be factual or circumstantial then they’ll proceed.
We can’t just assume that the police are not doing anything, or we can’t will them to make an arrest just because.

I agree that things in Dominica are getting out of hand, but there is a method of doing things.

smh…aye payi a moi…really and truely….what’s happening to dominica…??as i mentioned before…its the lawlessness in our country that has things so disfunctional….black men and women talk to your kids they are never to old to listen/learn….many times these young people stray because these young men/women parents fail to play their roles…its just sad very sad..i’m scared to have a child if thats the society he or she will be raised in…remember the bible stated in Genesis 3:19 “by the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made”….teach these youth about good morals and whats ethically right!! get a job and stop living risky lives…just as fast as the money comes so it goes…the devil is a liar!!

brother you seem to be out of touch with the real ghetto vibes in dominica, let me enlighten you a bit, because i been there done that, you see this guadeloupe and martinique backdoor thing, that is the key, this clandestine move has toughened (DA)’s ghetto youths, this is where law enforcment have to concentrate, curb that activity totally, and they will break that whole drug operation, the more (DA) man continue on that trek,is the more brazen they getting, they are maturing more everyday or you might say perfecting the art,you see they going at length to kidnapping, this means that the whole drug thing escalating, law enforcement need to get more rigid right now,get to the core and kill it,this whole backdoor thing.

      • forreal
        March 16, 2012

and let me further point out ,these man and them not into this whole ethical thing,it is all about survival, you see to ghetto youths violation is a must self preservation come first, this is how dominica is,and has been for a while now,you doh see since after hurricane david, all man look to get their own shack in tarish pit and surrondings, when them man could not get work, everyone start going backdoor,so is not a parents thing that,is all man want to have, this is dominica foremost and present for you brother.

you seem to be contradicting yourself a lil bit…….but stop making excuses for them children….branding them “ghetto” too have that effect on them….and i dont have to live in a from ghetto to know anything …..dare to be different and move away from such lifestyle….and stop say “these man and them not in the whole ethical thing” smh…..chupessssss

We are each other’s keepers, near or far. This is another heartrending story in Dominica. My heart is aching which gives me a headache.
For God’s sake and for the love of others, Dominica is an island and not a big country with millions of people where we would expect that such would occur. Surely, not in Dominica we would say.
I hope they were not involved in illegal activities. May they be found.
Lord, when will these types of criminal activities end that DA residents could live in happiness, peace and safety? Lord, please put a hand, in Jesus Name I pray.
Fellow Domincan residents and overseas, please pray for them that they will be found unharmed. I am doing the same.

    • Shameless
      March 16, 2012

God is not sleeping! We cannot worship evil, greedy, deceitful, cheating men while comparing them to the most high and giving tacit approval for their evil deeds while shouting; “God is good, All the time”. This is nothing but mockery and disrespect for the almighty father and what he stands for as the supreme being.

When we as a nation (commoner, politicians, priests, pastors, educated, etc etc) insist on glorifying and spinning the wrongs in leadership then the most high will punish us collectively. Divine intervention coupled with humility and lot of human effort and sacrifices will stem the tide of violence, death and destruction in our blessed land. Wake up my people, wake up for we will have no one else to blame but ourselves. Just look at Haiti and think of how did they ever get where they are today.

May the good lord have mercy on us all….

how dare you mention haiti in your foolish religious rambling. the people of haiti are not entirely at fault for their situation and it had nothing to do with any nonesense about evil. haiti’s situation was as a result of exploitation and wickedness by the higher powers.

Has it occurred to anyone that these two fellas may be two of the foe men involved in the robbery at Marigot Credit Union.

Remember, when the car was stolen the information was that five men did it, at present one is under police guard in hospital. The other two main guys may have kidnapped those two lesser strong guys, to prevent them from talking. Its just my thinking, I may be wrong, but it’s something the police should consider.

Things in this underpopulated dot are really getting out of hand. If it is not one, it is the other. In the days of PJ as PM; things would be ubder control. He would have put laws in place that would have worked. He kept the candle burning.
Today, there no law and no constitution. The criminals have been made to free; and the powers that be is not making it their damn business.

Are you people for real? Are you giving a description of pigs or humans from African descent? The descriptions of these young men are nothing short of offensive and support the stereotypes of describing black people! Come on people of Dominica, who are responsible for this, have respect for human dignity!

    • Realist
      March 17, 2012

      @ AdultED

The descriptive method employed by the local police CID was what taught by the former white colonial masters. A sad legacy of a bygone racist era.

Not even in England you will get away with that patronising system now.
But most Dominmicans are so brainwashed they won’t evn realise when they are being trampled upon. Just take example on the thumbs-down you got. all from black Dominicans

Best they had run. Anytime you go with your captors you are in serious trouble. I wonder how the person knew that they would find them there though.

  75. Aye Dominique
    March 15, 2012

Leon looks familiar, I hope they are found…alas, I just think that the crime situation in Dominica is becoming a bit out of hand. I do not care what they did, but I just think that our justice system should be at the point where if someone did wrong to you, you should be afraid to take their life for that, instead you should be more moved to taking the person to court.

These days it seems is the opposite, every man is his own court, judge and jury. I’m not saying that the guys did anything, I do not know anything about the case, but this is not a possibility that can be ruled out….

I hope the search turns out very successful and they are reunited with their families…let us pray for them.
