A man was who was arrested on Friday when a sub-machine gun and ammunition were discovered in the vehicle he was driving, has been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm. .

The police have identified him as 27-year-old truck driver Ashton Telemacque of Wesley.

According to the police, he was found with one sub-machine gun, 24 rounds of 9mm ammunition, four 12-gauge rounds of shot-gun ammunition and one .45 caliber ammunition in the vehicle at Wood Bridge Port.

He is expected to appear before a Roseau Magistrate on Tuesday.
