BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – United States Secretary of Defence Robert Gates is to meet with Eastern Caribbean leaders during a one-day visit to the Caribbean later this week.

Gates, will also meet with senior national security officials from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) during his April 16 meeting here.

An official statement said that he would be discussing security challenges facing the sub-region and how the United States can work with the Regional Security System (RSS) to strengthen the region’s capacity to meet these threats.

Once again fellow Dominicans, some of you are missing the point.

Fact 1. USA -Population 250 million with army, navy, marines, airforce, nuclear capabilities, self-sufficient, heavy industry and manufacturing capabilities. The world’s ONLY superpower.

Fact2. DOminica” population 65,000. ( twice that amount living and working abroad- the majority of whom live and work WHERE???) Police force and SSU only. Struggling economy based on what’s left of agriculture and the Dominican concept of tourism. Dependent on grants and foreign aid.

Please make the comparison for yourselves and come to the only logical conclusion.

Do you read, watch international news? HAve you heard of BBC, ABC, CNN, FOX? Are you aware of the recently concluded nuclear summit hosted by the USA attended by over 40 other nations at the White House earlier this week?

Whatever happens in Dominica, is reported on the news or on the radio can be seen, read, heard ANYWHRE ELSE IN THE WORLD due to the wonders of the internet.

PLease oh please stop behaving like DOminica is an island totally isolated from the outside world without electricity, television, internet, books, air/seaport access, telephones ( bothe cellular and landline capabilities)!!!!!!

-$10 million spent to put night landing on An airport without the project 1st being aproved for civilian aircraft night landing…ask the Marigot posse about the recent practice military landing ….
-A fuel storage and deep water port with moss code towers strategically placed in the middle of a residential area
-Ask any customs officer if they are allowed to search what the Venezuelans bring in?

look at google earth and ask yourself if they need to come to D/ca to see anything?

This is yet another very serious warning!!!!!

Well…Finally the local media is starting to cover the true issues

    http://uk.reuters.com/article/idUKTRE63115A20100402
(“Chavez’s government is turning to Iran and Russia for help to develop nuclear energy.”….Chavez said Moscow and Caracas would strengthen security ties to “continue increasing Venezuela’s defence capability” and move ahead with cooperation on nuclear energy.

“We are not going to build the atomic bomb but we will develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. We have to prepare for the post-petroleum era,” Chavez said )

Will you please let the readers see what the above news tells about the urgent visit of US Defence Secretary to visit Caribbean?

could you kindly publish the map showing the territorial waters claimed by Venezuela and how much danger we have been put under with an airport night landing that does not meet civilian aircraft night landing specifications and very convenient/strategically located fuel storage in a residential area? (equiped with deep water access and night moss code towers. Do international shipping regulations allow for flamable/hazardous materials to come into port at night?)
Able to refuel naval vessels and helecopters in jimit/melville hall instead of traveling ~400miles to caracas???

I guess the 3 young men who were killed last year and the 4 who disappeared in Portsmouth last month should have been wearing “night vision binoculars in the middle of the day”

Yes in the middle of the DAY

This guy is more bad news, after Zoellick. He is the one that invented “Al Quida” for the CIA.
There is no such group as al quida. It is whatever group of people that they want to label as terrorists.
What a hoax. He is here to bring the sanctions of war.
The only real threat is the money changers.

      April 15, 2010

“Only” you most likely an uneducated jerk on the affairs of warfare would make such a comment. How did he make up “AL QAEDA”? Get your facts this is a well known terrorist group dubbed just that by the terrorists themselves creating havoc in the Middle East way before the CIA was even aware they existed!

        April 15, 2010

Get your facts straight. There is no Al Queda group of terrorists. Robert Gates invented this “term” and it has been applied to any group that the CIA wants to “label” as terrorist. And what is the definition of a terrorist? Anyone that disagrees with the government or questions it or wants to retaliate because the US just killed a bunch of their people or bombed their country.

Osama Bin Ladin was on the CIA payroll for years as was Sadam Hussein until they decided that they didn’t want to play ball anymore. Wake up and get educated. Quit watching the news on TV, CNN, FOX, etc. They are all contolled media. Get your information from alternative media that isn’t government controlled.
