Officials at H.H.V Whitchurch and Co. Ltd. have confirmed that the company’s wholesale outlet in Roseau was burgled last night.
The property, located on Hanover Street, directly behind Whitchurch IGA Supercenter, was broken into from one of the loading bays facing the street.
The Police are actively investigating the incident.
DNO will bring you updates as this story unfolds.
i am amazed at the ignorance of some dominicans some of you are happy that one of the longest serving businesses was robbed. a business that provides employment to hundreds of dominicans. what is going to happe n to us when everything is stolen. who re you going to blame when we are out of jobs is it mr skerrit. nowww these people were not hungry since what they stole were not necessities. so get your facts straight

STOP BLAMING THE GOVRNMENT is lazy they lazy and do not want to work and want to leave on other people
That same storeroom was burglared about two years ago and the polie caught the theft. I think he is severing a seven year term setence for that.Constable Rene Samuel was the policeman on the case and he did a dam good job. I hope the investigating officer can do a good job as him.
why is whitchurch that paying for it go tel your p.m. you hungry
Everybody doing it.Bobol, teifing all the same. “Monkey See Monkey Do”!.
what do you expect…we’re back we’ve got a life to live too
@ Deportee
Do you know the Ten Commandments of God? Two of them are, “Thou shalt not steal” and “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors’ goods.” You stand a good chance and an immediate one of going to Hell for stealing, violating God’s Commandments which are serious offences against Him and the Law of the land. They are mortal/grievous sins.
Find work to do. Surely, there is something you can do and also think of – to do – to legally get paid.
Some people are habitual thieves. It appears that they may never be rehabilitated and are a menace to society. If caught, they should be imprisoned for life, until they die.
Thieves cost their victims exorbitant sums of money at that for repair of their damaged property and purchasing additional goods which they stole. They have no love and no conscience. Furthermore the cost of purchasing items will increase which will be passed on to customers, their very own family. Have you ever thought of that?
The Courts should take this into consideration when granting them bail, charging and sentencing them. Were you deported? Why were you deported? If you are an authentic deportee, you should have conducted yourself in a lawful manner and you would not be deported.
There are also some people who are deported because they do not have valid reasons why the government of a country should grant them resident status. Some of them migrated illegally, i.e., they were not landed residents. What category do you fall into?
thats the life i agree with dem take all their stuff, that skerrit have to burn in hell for his non sense. labour party got to go
Even if young people try a litte business, who going to patronize it? There is no spending power in the country. The salary not even enough to pay bill and eat a good meal. Who going to patronize the small business???????? I want to know!
You are being negative. If everyone had your mind, nothing would ever be done and accomplished.
Worship God and pray to Him. Always do good and you will be successful in the land. Patience and perseverance are necessary.
Prior to opening a business, give it a good thought and if it may be a product that will interest consumers. Then pray to God, even prior to any undertaking.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said: “For human beings it is impossible but with God all things are possible.”
Trust in God. Do what you can and are able to do. Be confident.
Holy Scripture: All things work for good to those who love God.
Just so you guys know, it isn’t high school or college graduates who are committing these robberies. So the idea that jobs are scarce for graduates is – while true – not the determining factor in these robberies or the drug trade or murders, etc.
OMG!! Maybe it’s my dirty mind, but I took a quick glance at the heading and blurted Whitchurch Wholesale buggared! lol … I checking how that happen and how they know! All-righty-then!!
LOL
boy what nonsense u all doing if u was hungry my P.M would have given u something to eat ,You all never heard of the RED clinic

Is just a few bad apples trying to F$@k up the bunch, they think if the big boys can do it they can do it too. But the long arm of the Law will check up with them, even the crooked lawyers, who love to defend the guilty.
Hey, watch your mouth! Somebdy gotta be their defense attorney!
ok …. wait, for a moment there you guys had me…. when will some and I said some, of you Dominicans come to realized that we elect a government to look after our country and together we as meaning ” Dominicans” we form a government. One can’t just seat on their behind and expect the government, according to you all Skerrit to look for jobs for you all. That pathetic!!! There are so many thing you can do… be Creative!!!!
@ Tea
This time I agree with you. Keep up the positive and encouragement.
Skerrit must realize?? When your butt sitting in jail it will not be Skerrit at all. Just sit down and wait for job and money to come to you.
I hope you can accept the consequences of your actions when you are faced with it.
All you silly people that are blaming the gov’t for theft.
Are Americans hungry people without food to eat?
skerrit must realize, people are loosing their jobs, the yout when they get out of school cant get jobs on the market, the young men standing on the block doing nothing, the people are hungry ,and crying for help while the big fish filling their pockets, what do you expect in a country where corruption starts from the top, we must steal to survive.
Must steal? lol.. u all must be sick there should be a law to kill all burglers caught stealing on sight..
Keep blaming the government for lazy people who have no imagination.
I was just talking to this lady a few nights ago. She said she is so busy in Dominica. She has a little plot of land, but she grows a variety of crops to make some money.
Just sit allu ass in Rosean and think food and money will miraculously drop into allu pockets. Then complain Chinese are taking over DOminica. The Arabs came and did well, now the Chinese are doing the same. All we keep doing is bitching and complaining and doing nothing to make ourselves better. Some of us are so frigging unimaginative, it is unbelievable.
As we used to say back in the day, Anonymous, “If I was close to you, I would shake your big toe.”
I live in foreign, but I go home 3 or 4 times a year. I have to agree that there is an abundance of opportunities for those wanting to take the chance, and having the will, to improve themselves.
Trouble is, we’ve become a dependent people. Dominicans tend to look a gift horse in the mouth. That is prinpally our trouble.
Instead of basing conclusions on those we see on the block hanging out as we traverse the highways, search out the small, local entrepreneurs who are making things happen in their own small ways. You will find that they are supremely hard working and quite satisfied with their hard-earned efforts.
i support you one hundred %
your name says it all…….Valley RAT. Rats steal, taking what doesn’t belong to them.
Spoken like a true valley rat! Dirty and worthless!!
Go and make “bomb”!…lol! According to Dice its the oldest profession…
you wrong. they lazy so they will not look for work to do but steal what people work hard for,,,Dominicans must stop that.
@ Valley Rat
What type of news do you read and also on the Internet? Are you not aware that unemployment exists in every country of the world? People just have to keep prodding on.
Dominica is in a much better position today than in previous years.
In those days if they were employed and lost their jobs they received no financial compensation from the government or employers. Some of them who were wrongfully dismissed/fired did not consider suing their employers.
Today, times have changed and people are pursuing their rights.
Keep in mind, God help those who help themselves. They can find something to do. As I always say, pray to God for guidance. Ask Him humbly, what shall I do Lord and please help me. Believe me, God comes to the rescue and in many ways, sooner than we expect. Spiritual enlightenment is required to comprehend and accept this.
If the police catch you, is a cut ass and 3 years jail you getting in your ass.
WE NEED MORE POLICE PATROL AT NIGHTS!!!
the do not have time to patrol they have to use the police ride to go check the little woman
And go and sit inside kfc too
@ young
You are so silly. The Police work the required amount of time that they are scheduled to work.
The Police cannot be everywhere to protect people and their property. God protects. Ask Him for protection which He will be too happy to extend.
Keep in mind that there is an evil force above those criminals that is influencing them. If you comprehend this you will not make derogatory comments about the Police. Your statement is unfair to them and is uncalled for.
Your sister love the ride.
Gangsta 4 life ,wat u expect,no jobs in d country,d ghetto yout gotta eat to
dont work and thief and see how far up your arse a bullet will reach…damn lazy
yah, they still the rum to eat… cha man
