Yanick Lander causes pandemonium in Roseau court

Yannick Lander
Yannick Lander

There was pandemonium in the Roseau Magistrate’s Court this morning when murder-accused Yannick Lander attacked another prisoner.

Lander was brought in from the Stock Farm Prison on his murder charge.

According to our DNO court reporter, it took six police officers to tackle Lander and extract him from his bleeding victim.

Court proceedings have been temporarily suspended because of the incident.

Lander was charged with the murder of Dwayne Pinard of Castle Comfort in 2008 but was granted bail in 2010.

While on bail he reportedly attacked Kyle David and has been remanded in custody for that offense.

Sometime in December 2012, Lander was charged for attacking another prisoner in a Roseau magistrate’s court.

More on this story later.

What I cant understand, as some people have said already, Why wasn;t the man in shackels?? WHY? The man took another persons life, Why was he even on bail? I am yet to understand what is going on with our legal system in DA? In Dominica it seems is who U know and who know U!!!!! Mr is not mad, he is not even nearly mad, He is not a stupid guy either, he is just playing the court system, He may have anger issues, but trust me, inside he is dying with laughter seeing how he is able to manipulate the legal system! I hope he will remain where he rightly belongs, regardless of who his parents are! SMH again! DNO leave my comment roll sup lay ok! 8)

This sad, so very sad when a nation of mostly ingnoramuses cannot appreciate mental health issues. The guy is obviously very ill mentally and derranged.
An insanity defense is more than acceptable.
There are people in high places committing crimes against innocent citizens politically socilaly and economically. No constitution nor law can stop them. They grow more arrogant each day as the majority of opportunist with human faces support their crimes but would instead of seeking adequate mental health treatment are more at ease condeming a sick individual. Is the present psychiatrist in need of mental health treatment himself.Doesn’t he does he meet the critirea to put in his 5cent piece as the crusader on the sunday afternoon show would say.Dr.Benjamin step up to the plate and help an ignorant nation become enlightened on the pathology of this mental state of Lander. Failing to do so would only broden the net of the ignorant on island as another talk show host often says on Island (Angelo)Careless whisper says ignorance is kind but in this case it’s the reverse.DA is already doomed in more than one way this only moves us to the next level of dumbness like our ruling regime.
If the regime is dumb what can one expect from the electorate who put them there?
This issue is a clear ej of our continuous backwardness. We just culminated our season of peganism receive ashes and same day condeming a mentally ill guy who needs help.
If am wrong I don’t wanna beright ever.
Go arrest the real criminals in political office the lawyers and other prostituing D/can passports.

It breaks my heart so deeply to see Yanick involved in this mess with his life on a continuous downward spiral. I remember this guy from DGS. He even had a crush on me…such a sweet boy back then! Now I don’t know who is this manifestation of evil that brings tears to my eyes. I feel sad for his victims, sad for their families, sad for his family and so very sad for him!…I pray that the Heavenly Father intervenes so that something good can come from the remainder of his life.

SMH…I hope y’all understand that no one ever knows the full story except God. You all are all ranting about the boy is bad and has problems when some of you do worst and don’t get caught.

I have personally seen boys passing in the Lander boy’s face and spit in it…or make comments of how they will bomb his house and taunt him, yet he didn’t react….but every one has a breaking point.

Yes he might be trouble…but if you were not there and you dont know the 100% stop making all these ignorant hill billy comments that make you look like the idiot sub human people I know you are.

Correction: God and whom ever is involved** No one does anything to anyone unless something was done either directly or indirectly. They spat in his face? Duane had multiple broken ribs. They threatened his family & home? Duane’s jaw was broken. Everyone saying how he’s a bad guy? He is constantly taunting the family of the deceased, following them, placing himself in front of their homes for hours and just staring….. Check the police reports.
So realistcly You dont know 100% Either so you need to stop making “IGNORANT HILL BILLY” BIASED comments that in turn MAKES YOU look like an Idiot SUB HUMAN person.

I challenge all of us, instead of another negative comment, to get down on our knees and genuinely pray for Yannick Lander, we can trust and believe that God can change him…

Just a few seconds of your time and prayer…please people…. Let us do this and trust that God can change Yannick Lander

  10. What?
    February 15, 2013

This a simple reminder to parents that we need to pray hard for our children. Pray without ceasing!

Dwayne was my neighbor and a little troublesome…But everybody in Castle Comfort and Wallhouse knew that… But he good boy and he came from a good, sound home with a wonderful family.

When I heard about what Yannick did to Dwayne, my heart just breaks… over and over again…

My heart breaks for Dwayne’s family, my heart breaks for our community… And my heart breaks because we will never see our troublesome Dwayne again…

I pray for Yanick, he is a lost and troubled soul… I pray for his mother and father and family…I pray for them for the strength that they need when they cannot pray…

Were you there? Please if you do you’d probably need to put in a statement. Other Wise, Be Quiet!
They were not best friends, part of the same circle , yes …listen yall need to stop feel sorry for this MURDERER and start showing some sort of empathy towards the ones who really lost something that cannot be replaced. A LIFE, A SOUL, Yannick’s parents can visit him, see him, bring him things he needs, see for themselves how he is despite what they hope, ASK HIM how he’s doing and HE GETS TO ANSWER!!
Duane can’t do that, we get to bring him flowers that he cant smell, or see, we cant touch him, we cant see him, we CANNOT. All we have is pictures and memories, nobody knows what really happened that day BUT HIM either way whatever it was did not and will not give him Right for taking someones LIFE.
Whatever he is going through serves him RIGHT he is paying for his WRONGS. God is making him PAY!

  14. February 15, 2013

How many attacks do you need to keep this person locked up without having to see anyone? Why bail when you know there will be more crimes? This person knows that he will be out again so he do not care, come on system.

How sad and what a shame he conducted himself in such a manner from Day 1 to today. A young and handsome man as he has wasted his life, damaged his reputation and may remain in prison for the rest of his life. He has tarnished his future.
Does he attack others with no provocation? Can he be rehabilitated? He needs to take an anger management course.
Lord, help especially those Dominican young men who live a life of crime/murder and waste their God-given precious allotted time also in futility. They are in dire need of help, most of all, yours.

I think it is so unfair the way people condemn you because of who you are, or who your parents are. This young man is sick. Any psychologist with half a degree would recognize this as a manic outbust of a Schizophrenic person. Are the prison officers ensuring that he is on medication, that his meds are being regulated and adjusted to meet his needs. Many people do not like this young man but if his illness is not treated, he will get manic again and this time it may be worse.

Hello. This guy murdered someone and he gets out on bail. He then attack and assault another person and he still out. His bail was then revoke and he was remanded but now he appeared in count and he attack someone in court. Well this guy has no respect for our court or laws and enforcement therefore I say put him in solitary confinement. Also if he must appear in court he must be shackled both by hands and feet because he has forfeited his right to be treated in a humane manner. The Department of correction should also tell him if he pull any such stunt or commit any crime in court he will suffer a serious accident.

He appears to be a dangerous person for his young age. He should be brought to Court in handcuffs and leg shackles. This is the only remedy for one as he who attacks others, be they prisoners. I hope he was not tantalized which caused him to act in this manner.

The court should send him home to them and lock the 3 of them up in the house!!!

The victim and his family are suffering much much more than Mr Lander..

This year 2013 will be five years since Duane died. Why the case cannot call? Why all the policemen were given leave on the first round when Behanzin was a magistrate in the court? Whe the case had to start all over again when only one witness was remaining on the stand? Why was Duane;s file removed from the court and sunddenly reappeared? Why is it that the court cannot tell MA Dier that even if she is there or not they are going ahead with the matter? Tell me don’t yousee something is wrong? They are really playing with the case.Look for Bail, but i am looking for God;s glory toshine on this matter. Sadly gone but in my heart forever.

I met this young man on a few occasions. He seemed quite fine to me in terms of he being cognizant of his actions. The sad part of it is that he is not helping himself by acting that way. It is apparent that his baby is going to be raised without a father. Yannick, your parents were considerate enough to be there for you. Why do this to your child. From my perspective, you do not care about anyone but yourself; not your parents who have sacrificed so much for you (I know your mother), not your own child, not the mother of your child, not your lawyer (you are putting him in a position where he can no longer be able to defend you), not the people who have been supportive of your situation. You know damn well what you are doing! Apparently your psychology isn’t working because there is no way out of this one. It’s now between you and God and you have a lot of praying and fasting to do for all the hurt, pain and undue stress that you have caused to others. Again, there is no other way out of this one, understand me? God is the ultimate judge of us all but I’m appealing to the court to be extremely severe when handing down its sentence. You have disappointed your own self. You have lost the fight to defend yourself before society. Before it is too late, try to prove yourself to God for he alone can redeem you from this one.

Yannick is not mad he is seeking attention and looking for a name in the streets as a bad man when he is only a big teddy bear with sheer size who use that to intimidate others.I hope they build a cell just for him because he will only cause more problems on the outside….

WOW. So u mean to tell me you in court and u acting bad… well i want to know what you lawyer going to say about your actions now….

    • Jay
      February 14, 2013

The lawyer will obviously plead either and/or provocation and claim that he acted in this way while the balance of his mind was disturbed and he is therefore not reponsibile for his actions. In that case I recommend secure confinement, with psychiatric care to safeguard the general public.
It can not be that people like this are let loose into society on the premiss of a disturbed mind.

Its starting to look like the authorities are afraid of this one, for the amount of things he’s done since his charge. smh :-| Another person probably wouldnt of gotten away with this much. If they would do something aggressive enough I believe everyone would see the difference.

Sandy, are you sure about that? No all that meets the eye is true.

Check your facts again. Maby, just maby one of the parents, but certainly not his parents. Again, just maybe a parent.

      What do you consider ‘well-raised’?

    • Jay
      February 15, 2013

Please, before we judge it is Yanick who allegedy committed crimes for which he is on trial, not his parents! Yanick is an adult and has to answer for his actions himself.

He maybe want a free up in psychiatric unit. Don’t let him go nowhere. Leave him in a cell at the prison by himself.

    February 14, 2013

He has a stoned face. If they give him a chance, and let him out ……….. If he could fight in court, he doesn’t care anymore about his life, much less anyone in society. Put him away and throw away the key,

He has to go to God, because is only he that could change his life, if he want to be changed.
Law enforcement, and the whole country as a whole should not keep their eyes away from this man. I work with law enforcement out of the country, and in the medical field, these people has so much rage and anger, and they do not care who they hurt. They get numb to pain. Lord please help.
