At a recently held Crime Stoppers International Conference, Crime Stoppers Dominica was awarded the GARY MURPHY GLOBAL VISION AWARD 2016. Gary Murphy is a deceased past president of Crime stoppers International.

The Dominican programme was nominated for the award “in recognition of achieving proficiency and positive results throughout Dominica and as a dedicated and effective Crime Stoppers Programme.”

The citation also stated that the Dominica programme helped Crime Stoppers International to achieve its ongoing mission which is “To mobilize the world to provide information on crime anonymously.”

Crime Stoppers Dominica became a fully functional programme in the first quarter of 2013. Under the astute leadership of well-known businesswoman Genevieve Astaphan, the programme’s first Chairman, Crime Stoppers Dominica quickly gained awareness and credibility on the island. Crime Stoppers Dominica became a highly regarded organisation in the Dominican landscape. Crime Stoppers Dominica has implemented new, innovative fundraising measures which have assisted the financial sustainability of the programme  and has also embarked on community interventions that have served to increase awareness and confidence.

As a result of its creative communication approaches, the programme has achieved remarkable success in terms of the number of actionable calls received and number of arrests that the Police has been able to make as a result of information provided by the public to Crime Stoppers Dominica. In 2016, Stewart Paris was appointed Chairman of Crime Stoppers Dominica.

How Crime Stoppers Works

If you have information on any type of CRIMINAL ACTIVITY, whether it has already happened, is in progress or is going to happen.

  • Call 1-800-TIPS [8477] and give the operator the information or go online at crimestoppersdominica.org and click the Submit Tip button.  Do not give your name.
  • Your call is answered by a professionally trained attendant at a call center outside of Dominica.  The call is free, it is confidential and there is no caller ID.  The information is then transmitted to the Police who proceeds to take the necessary action.

About Crime Stoppers International

Founded in 1976, Crime Stoppers has more than 1,200 programmes in more than 25 countries. Tips have led to just under 1,000,000 arrests being made with billions of dollars of property and drugs being recovered.

Crimestoppers works for those who have been abused but cannot face the police and court system too. Ring up or fill in the online form and say who you know to be a paedophile. If they get ten reports about the same person they must investigate. The chances are the person is still hurting children today. It really is anonymous. You can even make a report about yourself as a victim . No one will know it was you who blew the whistle. You can use Crimestoppers for a hint or a tipoff too. The information does not have to be proven there does not have to be hard evidence. You might save someone’s life or their future.

Congratulation to Crime Stoppers Dominica. Well done! Well deserved recognition and award.
It is beneficial to Dominicans that they do not hesitate to report any crime. I know D/cans are concerned about peace and safety. Therefore, they have Crime Stoppers to report crimes to,.incognito.
Last week in Toronto the police stopped a van with illegal drugs worth over $92M. It was hidden under the vehicle seat. I asked someone how did the police know for the man was driving on the street. I was informed, someone must have alerted the police or Crime Stoppers.
No one must hesitate to telephone Crime Stoppers to report whatever sort of crime. This helps keep the country, wherever we reside especially Dominica, safe.
Thank God for Crime Stoppers. Someday we hope our environment, wherever we reside will be a safer place also for those who come behind us, the future generations because of Crime Stoppers and those who report them.
God bless the effort of everyone!

Congratulations to the efforts of GA and Crime Stoppers Dominica. Again I will say that we have to be our brothers’ keeper and prevent crime from eroding our society and damaging our community spirit. If you see something; say something; if you know something; say something. Everyone should have this number on speed dial. 1-888- TIPS (8477). Together we can help curb crime in the country. Remember it is anonymous and it is free.
