Calypso show to kick off carnival in Carib Territory

salibis schoolNine calypsonians will take to the stage on Friday night as carnival celebrations kick off in the Carib Territory.

The Salybia Primary School Calypso Show is expected to take place at the school premises and will feature local performers from the area with diverse names as Lady Lilah, Sexy Bones, De Teacher, Prosper, De Lion, Tayo, Derrick, Smarty and Zing.

Live music for the show will be provided by local band ‘Kalinago All Stars’ and the event is being hosted by the school and Belle N Coz Production.

The show begins at 9:00 pm and cost $10 and part of the proceeds will go towards the funding raising efforts of the school.

This is just the beginning of carnival activities in the Carib Territory as there will be a lapo kabwit competition on Sunday evening and according to organizers, they expect it to last the entire night leading into j’ouvert on Carnival Monday morning.

J’ourvert will begin in Mahaut River 4:00 am with a hi-fi band and will culminate at Bataca to be followed by lapo kabwit street jump up for the entire day.

The hi-fi band then takes to the street at 2:00 pm until evening.

On Tuesday street jump-up will begin at 8:00 am until.

    you know i drove through the carib terr once unkowning it was street jump up, i never see so many drunk people, who where very lovely and friendly and welcoming, but boy o boy even the dogs on the street looked liked they where drunk, lol they sure know how to drink and have fun..wish i was there again cos thats where i would be.
