I agree with you “bothered” is Possy people to come together and make their carnival great. They cant expect people from Roseau to come do it for them, All they does is complain and critize and they dont do anything. Ian cant do it alone, form a group and get things moving. Before possy had carnival not now.
Hope next year we see a change.
To WOW: well is if the three men could not handle de job they shoulda leave it alone and get those who can do the job. NBD alone announced $10k at the Media Launch of Carnival. ..

Possie have work to do. De pics on de news show bwa bwa, carib, sensay, flagwavers, best buy. i know monster, kubuli was there. Where was the queen contestant Marcia Baptiste. de 3 man committee didn’t invite her I hope she didn’t say no.
People in Possie were asking us what taking place in Portsmouth. It was not even advertised.
Possie take de criticisms in good faith. Your openings have always been the BOMB. But 2010 was not. I maintain: regroup and make 2011 GREAT.
Was expecting to see mfr there . It wasn’t the same without mfr .
It is that people truly appreciate music as a profession. As a musician I strongly support MFR’s position. Playing music is fun but it is a job and a very taxing one too. It also cost a lot of money to upkeep and to buy equipment. In addition music is the livelihood of some of these kids. They deserve to be paid. We take what is ours for granted. To suggest that MFR is from Porssie and should settle for chump change is an insult to the profession. Please start showing the musicians some appreciation for their talent an profession. Are we all aware that when the foreign artist come to Dominica they demand total payment moments before their act- Note that is not withstanding Down payments or advance payment.
The opening event occurrences is not new to Porssie at all. We have seen it over and over again. A lot of good bands go down the drain at Carnival time only because we give outside bands preferential treatment. To MFR carnival is only once a year. Don’t be discouraged keep working towards better things; develop your individual talent , practice, practice and do it in an organized way.

BASED ON WAT I SAW AT THIS OPENING THIS WAS ALL ABOUT ROSEAU IN POSSIE HAVING FUN. THERE WAS NOTHING ABOUT PORTSMOUTH AND THE NORTH IN THIS CARNIVAL OPENING AND FOR THIS I WAS RATHER DISAPOINTED. NO PORTSMOUTH GROUP OR NOT EVEN PORTSMOUTH VERY OWN BAND PRESENT ON THE ROAD AND YOU CALLED THAT “PORTSMOUTH OPENING”? COMMON PEOPLE LOOK AGAIN. AND TELL ME WAT YOU THINK. DISAPPOINTED.
WHEN ONE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT ISSUES THE NEED TO HAVE THE FACTS RITE BEFORE TALKING ABOUT IT. MFR BAND HAS WORKED HARD TO BRING UP THE NAME OF PORTSMOTH AND THEY ARE PROBABLE THE ONLY GROUP FROM THE NORTH THAT ARE ACCEPTED THROUGHOUT THE ISLAND AND NOW IN THE REGION AND THERE MUSIC PLAYED IN THE STATES AND ENGLAND NOW.WHY TALK ABOUT THEY WANT TO CHARGE AN ARM AND A LEG WEN AFTER THEY WERE OWED SO MUCH MONEY AND STILL COMPRAMISE TO PLAY FOR NEXT TO NOTHING LAST YEAR CARNIVAL. AND THIS YEAR WAS GIVEN A REDICULOUS OFFER. I UNDERSTOOD THAT THEY WERE TOLD THAT THEY CAN’T GET OPENING AND JOUVERT MORNING AND THAT THEY HAVE TO CHOOSE ONLY ONE DAY BETWEEN MONDAY AND TUESDAY AND THEY ONLY CAN AY THEM $2500 EC FOR 8 HOURS ON THE ROAD. SO IT YOU WERE IN THOSE GUYS POSITION HOW WOULD ANYONE OF YOU FEEL ABOUT SUCH A TREATMENT IN YOUR OWN COMMUNITY AFTER PUSHING YOUR COMUNITY NAME ON THE MAP?

Well if MFR want to charge their own possie people an arm and a leg to play for them i don’t expect to see them on the road. Anyways… the opening was good with WCK. Big up to kerri, Ian and shem since they were the only ones organising the opening this year. GOOD JOB
Yeah, good job to them because they got all the money from Skerro through Ian for Possie Carnival, they could have got some groups to organize a band, and help them with all the money they got. As for MFR. they do damn right doh play. Not because they from Possie they should take “CRAP”. You think Roseau (RCC) can do that to WCK and Triple-K? No way in hell. So why must MFR accept the crumbs? Well if the 3-man committee, continue like that, It will be Roseau carnival in Possie. What all you didn’t want to see – look it. Roseau take over Carnival in Possie.

Stop it. How did Portmouth do well? there was Best Buy, Kubuli Beer, Carib Beer, Flag wavers, Monster,Lime. If WCK was not there no music. Where was MFR, Excess Groove, Nature Boyz and whoever else. Where de Trendsetters Triple Kay. not even there queen contestant for the National Queen pageant was there. And where de money they get for the carnival? no contestants nothing.
I am all for positive and when things good say it good. but i will not pretend Your friends are those who tell you as it is.

That make me remember the old days boy, when we sang i want to play me mas in my country the way it use to be, with whiskey, brandy , and cali flowing abondantly, for we doh like the idea of playing mas under police custody, give me my freedom, give me liberty when carnival day come. Possie carnival is not about the commercial carnival with custom and things like that we play mas the old way and we enjoy it that way, so to all the people with the negative comments, i will tell you if you want to play mas in Possie you have to understand Possie first.
Portsmouth you did well keep it up and I hope that next year we will have a Miss Portsmouth vying for the Canival Queen crown..

Its not about criticizing is true. Why we always saying the truth is critcizing there is also constructive criticism. Compared to previous years when Posrtmouth opening was the bomb this year it was not. The organizing was poor. What needs to be done is an evaluation to find out what went wrong and what needs to be done to make 2011 opening GREAT.

i was at possie and that was dread and boring…did not have anything fancy 2 watch and was empty except 4 ck.. that was ok but not all that… had a good amount of ppl but it was stupid…was not appealin..
