One more burden has been lifted of the shoulders of three Miss Dominica contestants as the search for sponsorship is finally over.

Jewele Brown of Pointe Mitchel, Octavia Prosper of La Plaine , and Royette Laurent of Portsmouth were stripped of their generic “2014 Miss Dominica contestant” sashes and clothed with sashes bearing the name of their sponsors; Petro Caribe and Discover Dominca Authority.

All three contestants are part sponsored.

Sales and Marketing Manger of Petro Caribe Ian Pinard said that the company is happy to be sponsoring three contestants of the Miss Dominica pageant.

“Petro Caribe is happy to partner again with DFC, we are happy to come on board in a big way to ensure that Mas 2014 is big and tremendous. We have been taking part in carnival for a few years now and so far we have spent maybe a quarter million dollars for the past years.”

According to him it is the first time that Petro Caribe is part sponsoring three contestants of the show.

Meantime, calypsonian Val “Young Bull” made a plea to the public to support Dominica’s carnival.

“All around Dominica will have activities, but it is important that Dominicans support your carnival. It is not a red carnival or a blue carnival, not a yellow Carnival or a LIME carnival alone it is all of us carnival so we look forward to you really coming out in a big way,” he said.

The Miss Dominica Carnival Queen Pageant is scheduled to take place on February 28th, 2014 at the Carnival City.

“One more burden has been lifted of the shoulders of three Miss Dominica contestants as the search for sponsorship is finally over.”

Do you think it is fair to have the young ladies go around begging for sponsors? A show that has made its mark in Dominica for Carnival should be so well organized that the private sector should be lines up begging to have a change to sponsor as this would give mileage to their companies.

But that won’t ever happen as the people responsible for running this activities think its their personal business.

The government has set aside tax relief to the corporate businesses who sponsor however, some of the employees at the top of these offices make it their business not to honor people when they make their claims to the DFC, the public and government hierarchy should find out why Malcolm Stephen has refused to sponsor the queen show/ pageant. A corporate citizen who loves carnival so much, has given so many young women and opportunity to see light on the other side of the tunnel, he has at least 5 crowns to his name.

    Learn to respect people!!!!!

According to Petro Caribe and Discover Dominica Authority, “Jewele Brown of Pointe Mitchel, Octavia Prosper of La Plaine, and Royette Laurent of Portsmouth were “stripped” of their “generic ““2014 Miss Dominica contestant”” sashes” and “clothed” with “sashes bearing the name of their sponsors;” “Petro Caribe and Discover Dominca Authority.”

These three individuals should NOT be considered as “2014 Miss Dominica contestants”, because they no longer wear the “2014 Miss Dominica contestant” sashes; therefore, they are NO LONGER CONTESTANTS IN THAT CATEGORY.

Is Petro Caribe and Discover Dominica Authority RUNNING THE SHOW NOW? A SPONSOR IS ONLY A SPONSOR. IT SEEMS THAT EVERYONE IS MAKING THEIR OWN RULES, MOVING FORWARD.

I AGREE WITH ALL WHO SAY THAT DOMINICA HAS BECOME THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE CARIBBEAN.

How can the Carnival Organization ALLOW “Petro Caribe and Discover Dominica Authority” to REPLACE the “2014 Miss Dominica contestant” sashes with their sashes when this is “2014 Miss Dominica” and NOT “2014 Miss Petro Caribe and Discover Dominica Authority.”

DOMINICA, YOU ARE THE BUMMER OF THE WEAK, WEAK, WEAK, WEAK, WEAK.

Striped of their generic sashes, does not mean they should be out of the competition. It simple means they no longer wear the standard, normal, basic sashes, they now carry sashes with their sponsors names.

Congrats to the ladies. I wish them all best luck.
