Parliamentary Representative of the Wesley constituency, Ezekiel Bazil has advised young people to be “very cautious” during the 2016 Carnival celebrations.

In recent time the country has seen an increase in the number of crimes, the latest being the killing of a Brazilian national in Hodges on Sunday, January 17.

“I want to ask the young people to be very cautious in what they are doing, keep themselves safe, keep their friends safe so we can have a violent free and crime free Carnival,” Bazil advised. “We have had it before and we can have it again.”

He also called on the general public to welcome visitors to the island during the Carnival season.

“Let us welcome our visitors and let us be safe in the things we are doing,” he stated.

The Real Mas 2016 officially kicked off in Dominica with the Carnival opening parade through the streets of Roseau on Saturday, January 16.

The parade consists of all the contestants of the various pageants and competitions which will be held during the Carnival season, as well as floats from various businesses, lapeau kabwit bands, bwa bwa and much more.

The two days of street jump up will be held on February 8th and 9th.

The Carnival season officially ends on February 10 with Tewey Vaval.

Turn the carnival event into a Gospel crusade and there will be no rum and no crime. Otherwise keep on dreaming.

The crime is the product of fallen human nature and comes out of an atmosphere of drunkenness, and immorality.

Born again men and women do not respond to carnival because they have been made new. The old nature that may have once enjoyed carnival has been crucified with Christ. Now they live to praise their Savior and tell others about Him :!:

A Gospel Crusade would bring together a happy, drug free, hand clapping, shouting crowd from near and far. I have seen it on other islands. On one island people came in cars, buses, and on cattle trucks. They came on boats and by planes from churches on neighboring islands. They filled a baseball field to overflowing to hear the old, old story of Jesus and His love :!:

I went because I had received an invitation signed by the pastors of three churches . Later I learned that nine churches had cancelled their regular services to join in that crusade and share in the services.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill, International…

There are many people in Dominica who want a crime free carnival. For the sake of all the good people on he island I hope it will be crime free.

    But here is the problem.

The activities that draw people to carnival and make it attractive to so many are things that create an atmosphere of carelessness that so often produces lawlessness.

When you have immodesty, lewdness, and vulgarity, when you have young women who don’t respect their bodies, and young men cruising and bar hoping to meet their kind, when you have music with speakers blaring out suggestive lyrics, and rivers of booze flowing, the lines between right and wrong become blurred and crime happens.

Yet most of the people who attend carnival are drawn to it by these things. If they do not find this atmosphere at the carnival in Dominica they will not attend, or they will go to a different carnival because this is their life.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Ezekiel, there are more important issues pertaining to Wesley that you should be concerned about, rather than carnival violence; what will be will be! A drunken mind is an altered mind, and some incidence may be due to inebriation.

My message to you is this, you should be busy trying to get some form of industry in the vicinity of Wesley and Woodford Hill, so that the youths of the villages can gain some employment. The opposition can also make an effort to get investors into the country, this is the time to show your potential if any exists!

Many are not going to like this comment, but I must express my opinions; like it or not, I am not concern only about the politics; however, production matters to me, let’s get something done!

Athena if that’s you or Wesly Telemaque, shut up because had it been you I would have made the same comment. Remember, both of you promised the same thing to the people of Wesley and Woodford Hill.

Remember I said the choice would be who the people love most. I there is a bi-election in Wesley today, Ezekiel will win! The only point I am trying to make is that the opposition can also try to do what is necessary to encourage investors into the country.

Indeed they do not control the purse strings, and cannot decide where in the country gets what and when, but they are not simply limited to sit in parliament and get insulted!

What is wrong with u people in Dominica are you all mad if so then I don’t expect anything better for the Island, Do u know what is the roll of an opposition party it’s to hold the Government in power to their plans and promises they have made to the people, they are the ones with the monies and you jolly well know they don’t listen to the persons who can help them bring employment to the villages, so when you see your ppl rep on the air is to show up the administration and to let them know they will not get away with sweeping things under the rug. I call on the villages to support your ppl rep especially those from the UWP they are fighting for all of you because you matter. Election is over u have 4years plus to go so work together your ppl rep instead.
