DDA Bring-a-Friend campaign for Carnival

Revelers at J’ouvert 2012

The Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) will once again be promoting the “Bring – A – Friend” campaign aimed at encouraging more visits to the island during the Carnival Season.

The campaign seeks to urge the diaspora community in the Caribbean region, the USA, Canada, UK and other parts of the world to “Bring a Friend” when they travel to Dominica and in return receive a coupon book for discounts at participating service providers.

The coupon book is an incentive for returning Dominicans and their visiting friends to spend and contribute to the local economy.

“Information gathered through research shows Dominicans living abroad travel to the island largely during the festive seasons, therefore, this is the perfect opportunity for them to explore the island and experience some of the cuisine, tours, and activities that the island has to offer,” said DDA’s Head of Marketing, Nikima Royer Jno Baptiste.

The Discover Dominica Authority will again seek to partner with local service providers to provide discounts on their services from February 1 – 15, 2013.

Persons planning to visit the island during this time are asked to register on-line on www.DiscoverDominica.com to reserve their coupon books while supplies last.

Upon arrival at the port of entry, visitors should visit the Tourism Information office/desk for further details on how to collect their coupon books.

The DDA would like to reach out to the diaspora communities and ask that they continue to be ambassadors to the Nature Island by inviting their friends and colleagues to experience the Nature, Culture and Adventure of the Nature Island.

Sorry, I tried but no success! My friend telling me they prefer to go to Trinidad for a real carnival. It is easier to and cheaper to get to, especially now with Caribbean Air.

Sad this is not kindergarden is this all they could come up with -we all know that there is a lot of competition out in the market -reduce prices provide package deals stop always trying to milk the tourists -why do you think secret bay does so well -because it is unique beautiful a one of a kind experience -Dominica is just that give the tourist value for their money

DDA is so not creative. Colin Piper has been unsuccessful at effectively marketing DA and should be replaced. Why are they marketing DA to DOminicans overseas????? Dominicans will come to DA when they want as is customary. Why doesnt Piper focus on Marketing DA to foreign countries???? Thats lazy work man!All these people do is show themselves off on tv with NO RESULTS!

Since AA is pulling out of the country this is a very good opportunity to partner with and introduce an Airlines, have a two for one fare to ensure more visitors to the island.

Air Tran airways, Jet blue, Delta and many other airlines operate small air crafts which are capable of flying into the country.

It’s time we speak up we need variety. It’s the spice of life!

That too is marketing.Grassroots marketing from the masses. It is much more authentic and cost a whole lot less to sustain.

Tourism is everybody business and you can play your part in assisting the country obtain revenue and make the festival a success.

With the advent of social media – facebook, and all the others if you have an extra room or a floor of your house that is vacant you just have to state that on facebook and invite persons for the Carnival and your friends and their friends will know

It is a good idea to encourage persons from abroad to visit Dominica during Carnival time and to give them a coupon book for discounts a participating service. However those persons should be given a book of security and safety tips prepared by the police similar to police warnings on how to conduct yourself in crowds of carnival participants. Also the DDA should have a booklet of warnings of the dangers of drowning at certain swim spots, such as Champagne, Batibou beach, Bout Sable, TiTou Gorge. Warnings should be posted at all these spots and any other spots which are dangerous. Life guards should be posted at all these swimming sites and armed security guards should be on duty at those spots. In addition to all these things the DDA should consider having all participating services having security cameras installed in and around their places of business if they don’t already have these.

You can have all the security cameras you want. It is still not admissable evidence in our courts. You remeber that case where a young man was stabbed to death and tourist ook out clear pictures? We are way behind times!

why do they advertise these promotions so late? If I had to come home for carnival my trip would have already been planned.

… desperation! They tried to milk the cow but found it has not much left. Somebody had been there already before, taking the cream…!
