Dominica’s independence celebrated in Houston

On Saturday evening, November 2, 2013 at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in Houston, Texas, Dominica Houston Association (DHA) celebrated its 35th Anniversary of Independence Gala.

The event was highlighted by a highly motivating and moving speech by Dominica’s ambassador to Costa Rica, Dr. Damein Dublin.

In keeping with the mission and dedication to service, DHA awarded three scholarships.

The recipients were: Juliette Languedoc who attends Dominica State College; Danphil Daniel who attends Northern Caribbean University – Jamaica, and Del Laurier who attends Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

The audience were brought to the feet with cameras, camera phones and videos as they all fought for position around the dance floor to witness performances by the Kubuli Dancers.

Kubuli Dancers is a cultural dance company located in Houston, who adored in the bright festival dress of Dominica, thrilled the crowd with many different traditional dances.

The group danced its way to standing ovations and rousing applause from the audience.

      Did you ever stop and think maybe no one from these places have submitted photos to post? People have to actually submitt a photo for it to be posted. SMH ignorance at it’s best
