so some people are so insecure that they have to rebutt on all negative comments. char man!!!
be happy and confident in the skin and size you are in.
everyone has a right to comment. if given the opportunity you would have so much negative to say even about the god u created you how you are.
just stop being miserable and let people see the joy that grandbay people should possess inside you.
why are you being so uptight and defensive
grow up
a
and just support the girl for her acheivements.
stupesss man
Congratulations to all the beautiful women who participated in the show. I wish i was home to have seen that. Another wonderful independence season
Having read all those comments on the debate between Madras and flowered prints, one must now wonder who’s right or who’s wrong. Three of the ladies who competed wore madras and three wore prints. That was in the early 70’s. I totally agree with the comments on preserving our National Wear. Get back to the original style of fuller, the original tete Casse with simply a brooch at the front and gold toned accessories. Get rid of all these gold beads and other items on the tete casse, all of the hair decorations, all these colored bead necklaces cheapening the look of the wob. What’s up with all these beads going around the finger. It’s bad enough we have lost the real way to showcase the Wob.
Madrass should be used more often from since i was a small boy 30 some yrs ago it use to be madrass nuh , but things are changing I believe it looses the originality without the madrass
congrats vilo you did a great job
All that talk about madras dwiyets is nonsense, the people before wore bold flowered prints ,stripes, plaids, plain brocade but never madras for dwiyets. Madras was more used for the jupes and for tying the head. I think we should forget about the round foula and go back to our original triangular foula, which by the way is Dominican and not French like the round one.
The ladies should also stop putting all those things on their hats and in their hair. If this continues we will lose our traditional National wear and the young ones coming up will see something quite different. Please let us try to keep our National wear real TRADITIONAL.
Congrats to miss Cortella Defoe!! And as You stated No ur not lucky ur blessed!! You indeed made us Proud!! And to all the Dominicans with the negative comment. Now theres a reason to say ‘GRAND BAY AGAIN” !! Why don’t you guys say it with great enthusiasm like how wen negative things come across you do.. The Night is Over. Yesterday has Passed!! She is Indeed Miss Wob Dwiyet 2012!!!! Yayyyy GRAND BAY AGAIN “!!” Congrats Again Corti!!
congratulations corti, well done again, i enjoyed every bit of your performance.
How the Heck can somone win two prime awards and lose to thw winner who got no awards. I follow pageants and I know for sure that this can occur if the winner is second throughout and if the awards are evenly distributed. But, this was not the case. Though the winner may have been consistent, Jewel had two top awards over her and being consistent also, these awards of course placed Jewel before Cortella .
HATER YOU NEED A COURSE IN JUDGING .ITS DONE SO GRT IN LINE
No sweet heart no. cortella whooped jewel in the spectacular wear round and was right there behind her in te other rounds
DE PERSON THAT SAY IT IS A THEIF, SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN THE SHOW.
dat not right ner Jewel should of won clearly i think they judged wrong i don’t wont to be mean congrats to the winner but why did this happen i thought that miss wob was the only show that didnt have pilfering but i was wrong
SHE SHOULD BUT GUESS WHAT SHE DID NOT.THE JUDGES MADE THEIR DECISION.
The talent city in DA. Congratulations to you Ms. Defoe and to all the other participants.
Congratulations and well done Ms defoe!!!
Grand Bay how proud I am of you!! You have given our Beloved island some of the brightest and best.
God Bless the people of Grand Bay and
God Bless Dominica.
miss wob dwiyet and she’s not even wearing a wob dwiyet. fools judging fools
THATS THE REASON THEY DIDNT ASK YOU TO JUDGE BECAUSE YOU ARE A DAME FOOL
sooo what was she wearing. you dont even know ur national wear and u want to talk
I think grand bay people alone should take part in all the cultural activities because is they alone they giving win regardless of if someone else is better….smh
And I don’t like those cloths they used it is so ugly and making the wob dwiyet look like a curtain…stupes
Way to go Grandbay. Although all the girls deserve praise.
Very well done Vilma Lewis, you made us proud
But wat cocomakak dat….y would the first runner up receive 2 awards and place first….l.culture will die in da…the judges should be more fair before they kill culture
Don’t say such a thing, culture will die when folks like you discourage people from being judges
the two awards she got were cortella’s own. those bias judges must stop the hating to improve young people’s involvement in culture.
If you know much about pageant would understand it better. you don’t need to win a award at a pageant to be the winner of the pageant, whats make you win is consistancy.
south city to the world. Congrats.
hatsssss of to carlton henry…three years in a row…wowwwwwwwwwwwww…congrats sweety. u have made us grand bay pple proud…
i must say that people like carlton henry, mariana isaac and nadege roach who work up to 11 pm with the contestants must be commended.

CONGRATS CORTIE
Congrats Jewele
Really! they should just let Grand Bay people, participate in Miss Wob Dwiyet three yrs in a row unbelievable.
Congrats Corti. You deserve best in Spectacular Wear. You were great in all those rounds. Funny that you did not best in anything buit you won. Well done.
those bull crap judges wanted no 2 to win but at the end of the day the exercise they failed to realize that the points had to be tallied. maybe granbay people should leave roseau people thing for them.
ba guy san gooh yo
Congratulations Cortie!!!
Told you from day one that this was ours! You are very talented darling, don’t stop there…Hold your head high and don’t let negativity get to you…you have a very strong family and friends support system so continue striving for the stars
A show of this calibre why is it not mandatory that the contestants use the madras for their wob????
Because the wob doesnt necessarily have to be made of madrass.
If you are old enough to remember the ‘days of old’ whenever you saw the the ladies in their WOB it was never, ever, madras. Always a beautiful printed fabric, and on ‘high and holy days’ a gorgeous brocade fabric.
Also, the wob was always lined with white fabric, so there………
In the days they wore jengar everyday but the madras was won on special occassions. Get your facts straight. Nothing is more beautiful than a Madras Dwiyet
fashion has taken over the wob my dear….
check who d judges were. but whats done is done. congrats
they bias, bias, bias
but that did not stop cortella
I AGREE WITH YOU 100%
Congratulations Cortella! You make us proud to be from G/Bay.
congarts miss defoe good job carlty
so very proud! congrats cortella and the other contestants.
so nowaday everybody jus band d madras….smh i rather c d madrass clothe everyday than these flowered cloths
support you one hundred percent i thought it was a table cloth or kitchen curtain i was looking at
What are you talking about, really? Know your history befoe you make statements. These flowered cloths were around long before meadras. Slave women would dress themselves in colourful cloths and tie their heads with a different piece of cloth. This feature is still alive today as the Wob Dwiyet is originally a flowered cloth with a different piece for the tete casse or head piece. The madras was typically worn with the “jupe”.
For real. I saw a wob dwiyet the other day I took it for a bed spread.
Congrats to the winner and hats off to all the other participants. Let’s keep our culture alive.
lol lol lol
I agree with you. we have so much pretty madrass
I agree…the madrass is better.
I concur. The style of the cultural wear is changing very rapidly. I agree that the organizers of these shows should enforce that the wob and/or Jupe be made out of Madras. The style of the coleir(scraf) around the neck has changed as well. Culture is culture. Why change it? If you want to make a dress for walking around Roseau, from Madras or big flowers, instead of the wob or jupe thats fine. But the I think that the wob and/or jupe should be consistant with the style of that of our elders from before, especially in the competitions.
I totally agree with you. I am in my sixties born and bred Dominican. I remember when the show was all about displaying the wob. Walking like a real Matador with grace elegance and style showing every detail of the wob. Today its all about tucking the dress in the waistband while the hands are in motion. While Grandbay had one of the most colorful Dwiyets, we need to remember that white lining is ALWAYS used on the inside. Not purple or any other colour. At least we can preserve that part of the wob.
I agree
Hey Corty. Watching you grow up from small, I knew how talented you were. You have turned out to be exceptionally beautiful young lady. When I spoke with you I told you this is yours baby. I had absolutely no doubt that you would be the winner. You have always been a winner. Congratulations. I can see Nafo and Dinia jumping up in the VI. Three in a row for South City. History in the making.
thanks aunty
no i’m not lucky i’m blessed …….thanks to all my supporters…..GRAND BAY GIRLS ARE THE BEST SWEET,SWEET IN THEIR WAIST………happy independence everyone much love to you all.
no i’m not lucky i’m blessed …….thanks to all my supporters…..GRAND BAY GIRLS ARE THE BEST SWEET,SWEET IN THEIR WAIST………happy independence everyone much love to you all.
They always have to voleh in a show. Jewele clearly had to win. She even got the Best in talent award which usually weighs alot; and she was consistent and good throughout. And what did the winner get?..NOTHING!
If you followed shows then you would be aware that this isnt the first show that the winner doesnt any award and emerges the winner. The competition was always between Jewel and Cortella and any one of them could have gotten the title. Congrats Cortie and Jewel!
the winner got nothing because those bias judges came with their agenda as they came with it for the madame wob dwiyet show, so shut the hell up and tell jewel and her paid judges will and come again
You should see clearly that the judges Cortella deserved first price in 2 rounds but as usual they had to spread it. This is so unfair. They wanted to do it 2 years ago until 1 judge threatened to walk away and the gave the winner all her prizes. So not because one girl gets 2 awards and she did not wins means she is the winner. They just gave her the prizes. And there were no judges form Grand Bay. So why did Cortella win. Because she was great in all the rounds. Follow the judges trend in Dominica very closely. I have been there so I know it.
Well take d title from cortella and give it to jewele nuh!! Grand Bay to the worrrrlllllddddddd!!!!!! All those who want to hate………..DROP AND DIE I SAY!!!!!
Congratulations Ms. Defoe!!
tsk! 9+9+9+9+8 is greater than 10+10+8+8+7. That’s why she won (as an example). Get over it!!
Congrats my dear….All ther best!
