As the 2010 independence celebrations intensify, Chief Cultural Officer Raymond Lawrence commends the support of the general public.
He said the events have been going well with the coordinated efforts of the cultural division, the local government department and the independence committee.
“We’re satisfied with the way things have been progressing so far. The independence celebrations have been going well,” Lawrence said on a DBS radio news item.
Lawrence spoke of the events, the participation, the standard of performances, and the various presentations, all of which he believes have been second to none.
“We thank God and we thank all those that helped in one way or the other,” he said.
Lawrence believes the ongoing coconut exhibition at the Old Mill Cultural Center, which is to conclude by Friday, the lecture on local cuisine, and Dominica history week, have generated some sort of amplified interest in the local products.
