UPDATE: DLP delegates conference to be held this month

Edward Registe says he will throw in his hat for the position of DLP general secretary

General Secretary of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) and Deputy Speaker of the Dominica House of Assembly, Edward Registe say the necessary machinery is now being put in place for the DLP to hold its delegates conference in Londonderry from 2 pm on Sunday February 17, 2019.

The DLP has not held a delegate’s conference since its September 15, 2013 conference in Pointe Michel where the executive was elected unopposed via a resolution.

Speaking at a DLP press conference on February 6, 2019, Registe stated that the reasons for the delay in not having the delegate’s conference was because of Tropical Storm Erika in 2015 and Hurricane Maria in 2017.

“The reasons for not having one over the years as is required by the constitution, is because, as [the] party in government, we had to prioritize the reconstruction and rebuilding after tropical storm Erika and Hurricane Maria and the government was plunged into this whole effort over the past few years and we had to prioritize,” he said.

He continued, “Now that the country has rebounded we felt it was time to go back to the party to focus on our delegate’s conference. We had our National Council Party meeting…and a date was given as February 17, 2019 for the delegates conference where 210 delegates will have the responsibilities of electing a new executive to run the affairs of the party. There are a few vacancies but not sure if there will be many changes.”

Registe added, “As part of our annual responsibility, the party must have its delegates conference and that delegates conference is part of the requirement of the constitution of the party. So, it is that time again and as you would know, we have not had a delegates conference in a few years and we felt it necessary to now have one.”

Registe, who is expected to replace Justina Charles as the DLP candidate in the Grand Bay constituency, said he will put his hat in the ring for the post of general secretary of the party.

Dr. Vince Henderson

Also addressing the media was parliamentary representative for Portsmouth, Ian Douglas and Ambassador Dr. Vince Henderson.

Dr. Henderson said that Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will have “a lot to say” at the conference

“Elections 2019/20 will have quite a bit of changes…and so the DLP is a party of change and a party which has put the people first and we will have some new and old candidates in the upcoming elections. Our candidates will be people with a proven track record to represent the people of Dominica in the parliament,” Dr. Henderson stated.

This is a factual assertion. Any political party that overstays its time in government becomes corrupt and dictatorial. The Skerrit-led-DLP administration is bankrupt of ideas and suffers from operational exhaustion. There is a desperate need for fresh eyes, fresh thinking and fresh policies that work for all citizens despite political affiliation. We have to begin to see citizens as Dominicans first and foremost. The antiquated style of politics of victimization, nepotism, cronyism, division, deprivation that the DLP still pursues must be brought to an end. The resources of the State must be shared equitably. At the upcoming polls Skerrit’s acolytes and neophytes must be soundly defeated. For their abysmal performance , for their tall tales, for their ubiquitous corruption, they MUST BE REBUKED!

Skerrit is a failure, and a waste of time. He must Go. too many voices and concerns of stats resources are circling over his head and we Dominicans need accounatabity to answer for ur tax money and not to be elevated by Labour Boom Boom flies promoting this failed P.M. in disguise of obvious failure in as a Prime (Odd) Minister.
Edward Registe, get the hell out and away from this bunch of failed politics and ignorance of their function, and lack of accountability of our States Funds.

They both as bad as each other. You forget Vince was there too getting hospitalitywhen Skerrit was cutting that cake with NG Lap Seng in Macau? And visting Abidjan with Skerrit an Harley Henry, not with anyone of Skerrit’s cabinet, I believe in 2011. They promise a delegation from Abidjan to visit us and make direct investment in our country. Well, I am still waiting for that
money from Abidjan brother. And Skerrit asking Linton in parliament how much Polisariopay him. So it is only fair to ask Skerrit how much he get from Abidjan, I not accusing, only asking.

Vince will be a much better what!!!?? Are you sick, are you for real. Please do not take this corrupt false labour Party seriously. All these labour clowns in the USA, at the UN and serving under other UN institutions are a bunch of weaklings who has absolutely no knowledge of where Domininca is today and where it is going. These guys up there in th USA are enjoying themselves nicely and sweetly and do not have the guts in 2019 to say to Skerrit in his face to “Got to Hell, Go to Hell and leave our crippled country alone, that yo , Skerrit has developed.” Domininca is ailing in a serious situation where we have not experienced any meaning socio-economic Develpoment to the advantage and privileged of our suffering people. Dominicans have been reduced to beggars assembling at the Financial Centre awaiting Skerrit`s crumbs and handouts rather than these clowns at the UN directing Skerrit to get the hell out of the Prime Minister’s Office. Skerrit must Go, he has overstayed his welcome…

“I wonder if Vince will battle King Skerro for the DLP leadership…” Why…why would you want Vince? We ned the entire corrupt Labour Government out. They have failed us even if they are in Domininca or at the UN, Brussels or UK or in the mighty Fake Tramp USA. We have our Tramps here too, enough is enough.
These so called ductored Doctors, have all the certificates and accolades, happily secured and our people are starved of jobs, housing, cash, no work ad we want now is a fresh bottle of local milk from our farmers, not one sitting there on the shelves of this Rotten Labour Shop.
Vince is a big disappointment, to be seated at the UN in the mighty Big Apple and it`s like one from the fire, into the frying pan. Vice has to earn this position He has sat in NY for years, happily as we struggle for jobs ad food and in Dominica and allowed this Bobols to go through. He is not wanted as PM nor as a minister. Never happen. Skerrit and the entire team must go. Vince better go back…

Dominicans put on your thinking cap. You have been fooled, tricked and misled for far too long. Too many Dominicans are joining the ranks of the unemployed and the poverty-stricken. Skerrit and his lackeys frequently travel first class overseas, dine in the finest hotels while you are unable or just able to pay for your utilities, fill your kitchen cupboards or put a well-balanced meal on the table. It is time for these morons to go into oblivion. Use your votes to push them through the EXIT door. Nineteen years of these sadists have been nineteen years of hardships, misery and hellish.

        @Joe Linton
I’ve spelt out the reasons innumerable times why Skerrit and his spineless ministers are undeserving of retaining political power. Here are just a few reasons from an extensive list: high unemployment, rising poverty, massive corruption, highly dysfunctional and unproductive public service, crumpling infrastructure, starvation wages, poor healthcare services, fast mushrooming vagrancy, exploding mendicancy, irreparable political division, anemic tourist arrivals, inadequate national security, galloping dictatorship, electoral shenanigans, inadequate sporting, entertainment and modern shopping facilities. Should I say more?

What!!!!? “The last DLP delegates conference was held in 2013 at Pointe Michel.??? All you people so serious in poor management, lack decorum, and after six long years only now you clowns are having your conference.? I wonder what is the theme of this conference. , is it “Thou Shall not Steal…” “Thou shall not have false political prophets…..” Thou shall not abuse the poor and suffering…” Thou shall not abuse states funds (Thievery) as seen indiscriminately given out at the Entrance of the Financial Centre”. Thou shall not promote and champion false prophets in the line of false failed politician in Skerrit”.
These are the issues we see should be addressed and talk above in this Corrupt Labour Party Delegates Conference. This corrupt Labour failed government is stained and have failed us the people of Domininca and key to this also parents, families and civil servants who need jobs and salaries that they can worked hard to earn what is theirs and not depend on…

6 Health…..Emphasis will be focus on prevention with local herbal medication given more importance.
This list is not complete..but will include items like foreign affairs, food security, finance and banking, investments, jobs, tourism etc, etc etc .
I will show that the clustering/bundling of Agiculture, Tourism, Construction and Education is a must.

With regards to the Civil Service I intend to make the public sector more scientific in their work practice. This is the age of information tech. and we have to march to the beat. We cannot continue running the government like an academic exercise.

Yearly, yes yearly, salary adjustments will be based on actual current revenue (taxes) of the year before .. You cannot get blood out of stone. For example, if actual tax collected for 2018 is less than 2017 no increase will be paid. If the tax situation continue to deteriorate there will be lay-offs and downsizing. No work no pay. Security of tenure will depend on all round performance.
We cannot have an antagonistic relationship between the public sector and the private sector. Masa day colonial type behavior must be a thing of the past. Both sectors must be on equal footing to focus on the development of Dominica. I just thought I would post some more of my salient points for my manifesto.

Just think of it people, the DLP MISLEADERS know DLP under lazy, inarticulate, incoherent Skerrit is in full campaign gear.. Several attempts to have a motorcade have failed.
The intention is to promote Skerrit, the laziest leader Dominica has had, and the worst “waste of time” Misleader in the Caribbean .
What will happen? Don’t be stupid people. Those Misleaders will tell you he was elected unopposed,so they will try to deceive you…,that Skerrit needs another chance..
Skerrit will be rejected at the next polls Lock Stock and Barrel. He makes a mockery of leadership,he has no love for the poor,he squanders scarce resources, does not believe in fairness, always think that opposition leaders should be in court or jail..Disgraceful Maduro’s style leaderdhip. His disgraceful tenure in office will end soon!!!Wicked and evil leader he is .

I seeing a double act coming like Putin and Medvedev in Russia, one P.M. And the other President. dont know yet which is which because obviously Roosevelt wants to keep his hand on the finances. On the other hand, as President Vince does not need a constituency of his own. But something like that is brewing. Why else Vince is spending so much time here when he is suppose to be our Ambassador in Washington.

Why are there no jobs? Why is Skerrit a failure? Whys is it that our states funds have been abused? Why is it we have not had a financial inquiry into the Bin Bool? Were you part of this scam, this thievery, and why didn`t you do anything about it? What really did you do…n anyway at all to represent our failed, ailing Domininca. We are at the abys now, poverty, no jobs, no agricultural production. You use to be Minister of agriculture, what went wrong now sir.       Plans are afoot for 20 seats . The 21st seat is mine. I will be contesting as an independent candidate. I will break into the contest with my manifesto which will be centered around reforms in the following area;
1 Education reform…..Teaching conditions, salary , training and important value will be given first priority.
      2. Law and Order ….Policing will be given more training and professional respect even more than Lawyers.
      3. Government workers will not be vocal or active in political issues. Trade Unionism in Civil employment will be banned. A Welfare Associations to deal with their interest and greviences will be established with representatives coming from each branch. Also the ministerial officers will be trained to be efficient to execute policies with dispatch and wiil be held accountable to the extent of being dismissed after 2 warnings.
      4. The economy will be driven by import substitution and export: What we eat, ware, use and consume will be “made in Dominica”

Only when election all that should be done for the people of Dominica coming? That is like lazy workers only wanting to work when they hear their contracts about to end, so they want to seem busy. Access to the country, security, health, housing to some, economic growth are not gifts. you people act like look at all the things papa skerro do for us. It doesnt matter if it is skerro or linton or even pappy, or even myself. These are the basic mandates of every government. these fellas are not excelling in anything. Agriculture is a joke, tourism is barely vibrant, festivals and sewo that running the country. Stay over guests only really come here for creole fest and carnival. There is NOTHING here for them in terms of quality entertainment on a regular basis except the old rum shops loved so much by locals. but as a tourist that is not where i want to be. as a local same thing. There is pigeon droppings all over the casualty area and god knows where else. The police stations are a mess.
