Doctor released after arrest for alleged deception

A doctor who has been offering a medically-related course was arrested for alleged deception but was released pending further investigation, DNO has been reliably informed.
Police sources said he was taken into custody on Tuesday but was eventually released.
According to the sources, investigations into the matter continue and the doctor could be charged soon.
They say a number of reports have been made against the doctor in relation to the course he was offering.
The sources said that certificates received by those who participated in the course at a centre here, are not accredited and carry no weight.
Online advertisements boast of participants receiving $40 to $50 per hour after the course is taken.
The centre, in its advertisement, also said graduates can put PBT after their name and can sit for International certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
It appears that the troubles of the doctor are not limited to Dominica since the St. Lucia Star Newspaper has reported that a sister centre on the neighbouring island is under investigation by the police there.
The newspaper reported that the Education Ministry in Saint Lucia had cautioned against registering for courses there, while the Chief Medical Officer acknowledged there had been complaints about the company.
The St. Lucia Star also reported that the six-week course offered by the centre, located in Castries, does not meet the requirements to take the ASCP exam.
“Other Dominican disgruntled students have confirmed to this reporter that they are considering taking legal action,” the newspaper reported in its article.
Meanwhile, the sources here in Dominica said the doctor could face a number of charges.
DNO will provide more information as it becomes available.

We have reached out to the doctor-in-question who has promised to issue a statement on the matter.

ASCP is the American Society for Clinical Pathologists. It is not an association for lab techs, but lab techs can also be members as well and can earn credits from doing some of the courses that concern lab technology.

    Dear viewers,
My daughter was a former student of the NU Age Wellness Center. I must admit that she learned all about phlebotomy from Dr. Peter Ducreay.
Due to the fact that she had a Certificate in Phlebotomy from the Nu Age Wellness Center she was able to get accepted to do a higher level program in Phlebotomy in the United States. She passed the State Board Examination and now she is Certified Phlebotomist.
So I wouild like to take the opportunity to extend my gratitude to Dr. Ducreay for giving my daughter the opportunity to excel.
Former students who have obtained their certificates should seek to further their education in the field of Phlebotomy.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. PB

Lady, your daughter could not get accepted in any medical program in America based on any certificate she obtained in Dominica from ten Dominica doctor.
The only way that could have happen, she would have to past the FSE.
So l know somebody is a liar.

This story makes no sense, it’s a sad piece of journalism. Whereas I respect your decision to withhold the person’s name, your readers deserve more information at least on the identity of the individual. This report leaves me more confused that I regret ever reading it.
Come on, too many times you state more information will be given and it never does, then the story dies.

Deception is the order of the day in Dominica, some of us even love being deceived. but it will end soon.

This was bound to happen eventually be it now or later it’s not exactly a pathology course it’s a phlebotomy course. This course usually takes up to a year or more to have a proper certification at the end comprising I believe of a 100 successful venepunctures . Then the ASCP exam can be taken after a few months of extra studies before taking that exam. trying to apply this in just six weeks is unheard of people always do background checks before participating in any unfamiliar programmes or anything of that sort.

This goes to show the DLp allows their friends to come and open up shop under little or no supervision. How can this be allowed to happen in this day and age and no one called it out?
I hope the investigation looks into who gave brought them to Dominican and how they got their permits approved. I want the full details of the investigations to be made public.

Again proof that Dominica has no standards, anything goes. How could a man simply come into the country and offer a course in phlebotomy to the general public without being approved by a legitimate relevant national authority?

Its not the first time Dominicans are swindled. I remember the Jamaican pastor back in the days, then there was this business man somewhere around 96-97 that came in run a ponzi scheme. One of my uncle and his friends supposedly educated got caught up in there. Dominicans are generally gullible and cannot discern stuff on thier own . A pastor from the north had a church in possi swindling for years. He wanted them to get him 50k for his birthday. Our PM from the same place been decieving Dominicans for years. My uncle is one of his biggest supporters. This tells the midset of our people. I am convinced we like being idiots and is the only thing we show with pride. I don’t blame the guy and i dont feel sorry for those who got trapped. The only problem is he stay tooo long. You have to hit and run cause is so our people like it.

Pathology is a branch of medicine treating of the essential nature of disease, especially of the changes in body tissues, and organs which cause, or are caused by disease; the structural and functional manifestations of a disease.

I believe it requires more than a simple course taught in a matter of days by any so called doctor to become a pathologists!

ASCP is simply the abbreviation of ” medical technologists certified by the American society for clinical pathology of registry.”

That entity or institution have anything to with the fraud in Dominica?

That so called doctor should be locked away for life at Stock Farm.

In America a forensic pathologists employed in the United States typically earns salary in the range of $75,000.00 to $200,000.00 per year.

The average in that field makes between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00 annually.

What is troubling about this is the use of the ASCP name which has nothing to do with Dominica, no political or governmental…

      You see only in Dominica!

If I was asks I would suggest PBT is a diseases, which I will not elaborate.

PBT is a “rare disease” it is  Another name for Piebaldism; so I fail to understand why he/she would suggest students put those letters behind or in front of their name that makes no sense whatsoever, but only in Dominica, where people like to be called by titles!

That is why we have a Dr. Punjab/Duquesne double doctor Roosevelt Skerrit as prime minister of Dominica eh!

      Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

Some of us have no idea what is the distinction between an Honorary Doctorate and a Medical Doctor?

      • Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
        March 28, 2019

You see Roosevelt supporters believe his bought honorary scraps of papers made him a medical doctor.

That is why he had them dancing in the streets, telling them that his bought Ph.D from Duquesne “is for Dominica.”

The next thing he told Dominicans is that “eighty (80%) of their sickness is in their mine.”

You know; I majored in Health Science, accomplished all of my prerequisite, sit in a medical school until I dropped out!

I had to take a few classes in psychology, even abnormal psychology; however, never once I was taught by or heard any professor or anyone teaching medicine said eighty (80%) of the time people believe they are ill, it is in their mine!

Every medical doctor must take psychology!

This crave with politicians wanting to be called doctor is all due to the accomplishment of the late Dr. Erick Williams former  first Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago.

The difference is Erick Williams earned a Ph.D in political science in university he…

I was skeptical when I first saw it knowing a thing or two.
The Doc’s name has been published many a time. Hence everyone should know despite’s DNO’s fear of being sued if his mentioned. All one has to do is visit the passed graduation postings even pic are available.
It reaffirms how bad things are on island. He was brought up” well” is the cry. Everyone these days think they are sexy and hence have to find side monies to maintain the lifestyle.
The duped were walking with their eyes close (like so many on island, even if the eyes are brown.
To keep up with the Jones some sell ” cat”, passports, parrots so I guess the real doctor of B-ball-no longer of Basketball saw an opportunity in duping wannabees. All they had to do is ask Mr.Jones at the Lab or any other lab person as Lafalize peeps. But with things being so bad why ask? too many peeps will do it and there will be a glut of techs.
