Dominica Freedom Party congratulates Jamaica Labour Party on its election win

DLP General Secretary, Johnson Boston
DFP General Secretary, Johnson Boston

The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) congratulates newly elected Prime Minister of Jamaica Hon. Andrew Holness and his Jamaica Labour Party on their victory at the polls in the general elections held on Thursday, February 25, 2016.

The close results seem to suggest that the people of Jamaica are taking great interest in the politics and governance issues of their country

The DFP wishes Hon. Andrew Holness and his team well as they prepare to form the next government of Jamaica and expect that they will govern with grace, transparency, dignity and respect for the democratic tradition of their country.

The Feedback coming out of Jamaica indicates that the Jamaican electorate has responded to a positive campaign which took into account their plight and was well articulated by the Jamaica Labour Party.

The DFP welcomes the return of the Jamaica Labour Party to government and believes as sister Parties we can work together to advance good and accountable government, democracy, the rule of Law and to foster a people centered empowerment and development approach at all levels in the region.

Can someone in the US tell Norman and Shirley to stop belching venom where they are hiding in their holes and see if they can come to DA and put their WORDS into action? All these fugitives do is just talk and talk and their talk make no sense. They have no alternative for their critics. Norman and Shirley, live in a fantasy world. The both can only wish and think they could some day be back home in DA but because of their dishonesty they are in hiding.

The lowest voter turnout in the history of elections in Jamaica would suggest the exact opposite!!!

Boston I am so upset with the DFP that I wish I would not see that name again. In 2000 I voted for Fredrik Barron and the DFP, and to see how all you took my vote and give to the DLP is a sin I can never forget. It’s my hand that I used to vote that caused Dominica to be hijacked by Skerrit, Tony, Alick and co. Right now the ONLY thing I want to hear from the DFP is the call for action

    • February 29, 2016

Call for what, in your dreams, call for action they can’t because they are the ones who hijacked the Labor Party, with Walsh, Collin, Skerrit, Charlo and the other Freedomites so call Labor Boston and the rest of the Freedom Party Members are seating doing nothing, with all the corruption they told us buring the 1999, 2000 election they are moomoo, they told us UWP was corrupt, now we have corruption looking at us right in our faces left right center up and down, they are playing smarty pants, even though they are not the elected opposition, the party need to be now vocal with what is taking place in Dominica today for which Freedom Party is part and parcel of Dominica dismay be Skerrit,, Blackmoore, Tony and the others, including those who, were vocal against what is taking place in Dominica today, who sold their souls for wealth, also don’t forget who is Blackmoore Mother in law, Freedom Party Members sold the party and in doing so helping in the destruction of Dominica period

If I recall he was once an Acting PM. He was then a novice. This time, although it was close, he did well.
Congratulations to the new Jamaica PM.
It would be a good thing if he could try to decrease the numerous crimes and horrible ones in Jamaica. A miracle I suppose but where there is a will, there is always a way.

The Feedback coming out of Jamaica indicates that the Jamaican electorate has responded to a positive campaign which took into account their plight and was well articulated by the Jamaica Labour Party

Mr. Boston, the difference between the JLP in Jamaica and the UWP defeat in Dominica, is nothing more than this article below:

    http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/columns/Voice-after-exit–The-diaspora-voting-debate_9113818

Forget about JLP, DFP, PNN, UWP or DLP. The big difference is the sale and purchase of the Dominica DIASPORA votes, which is not allowed in Jamaica. That’s what I applaud

  12. As for me
    February 28, 2016

Bosso, like a business all you let Charlo and Maynard, sell our once powerful party to Skerrit them for free and now you talking about JLP is our sister party? Does DFP even exist again? Boy the DFP is dead for good, and it will take another 50 years to rebuild it.

If they are our sister party then we should have followed their example and play the patient game just like they did. They did not mix their breed like we did here, and today after a few years in the wilderness they are back in the helm. Knowing how foolish we acted, if I were a member of the JLP I would sure not want to affiliate myself with the DFP.

  13. February 28, 2016

I hope you guys will contest next general election.

  14. Not Me Alone
    February 28, 2016

As a Dominican and a former very strong supporter of the DFP, from 1970 to 200, I too join my former party in congratulating the JLP for their victory.

However, I don’t see that sister party thing the DFP spoke about, apart from the same green color. Otherwise, they are Labor party and we are Freedom.

Notice I referred to myself as a former DFP supporter until 2000. What I did not mention is the reason why I last voted the DFP, is because our leaders, both those alive and deceased, convinced us to merge with the DLP, whose policies we knew, were very far apart, just to get rid of the UWP, that was working.

True Freedomites must take the blame for the state of our country today, because we caused that. We used our partisan politics to destroy our country and that we should be ashamed of. II don’t see us correcting our costly mistake, even if we try to rebuild. which I myself will not be a part of again. The most I can do now is join UWP to see if we can get our country back.

      YOU ARE MY HERO……

  15. February 28, 2016

We live in a small world in this Day of technology, therefore its the ripe time to learn from whats taking place all over the World. Accentuate the positives, immulate, and set a positive path for the furture, bring the best of the best where ever they may be, action speaks louder than words, we have too many Spin ” Doctors”. in our mists, yet our people are sick and crying out for assistance, and the ” Rats”. have join the Race. Food for thought, my people. Where there`s too many Doctors”? the staff nurses, are over Worked.

    February 28, 2016

DFP always close to JLP and DLP always close to PNP… There is no affiliation between DLP and JLP

    • Not Me Alone
      February 28, 2016

@ FREEDOMITE, let me speak as a former FREEDOMITE. Just as Jamaica is different from Dominica, so too JLP is different from DFP or DLP. Our poor judgement of 2000 has caused me to believe that it is not about policies, but rather selfishness, since our DFP policies were far different from the that of the DLP. Yet, to get rid of UWP that was working, and though different from us, were not far from our policies and our foreign relations that we established, we decided to sacrifice party, policies and Dominica to help Rosie, who was very left, win the election, which to me is the reason for the calamity Dominica is in today. According to the calypsonian who sang about “to hell with the monarchy”, I too say a big to hell with partisan politics, and it’s time it’s time for all to come together to do what we have to do to save our country. When we will do that, we will come back to party.

There is nothing wrong with the UWP, they are an honest party and loyal opposition.
The Freedom has a good track record.

The current DLP is the worse thing ever happen to Dominica in recent past.

    • February 28, 2016

Freedom Party is partly to be blame for what taking place in dominica presently, after voting The Dominica Freedom Party and not Labor only to see them merge together, I will never vote Freedom again, this is what you call betrayal, I cannot trust the Freedom Party anymore after being a member gor over 40 plus years, the Young Freedom Movement knew what was coming that’s why they join the Labor Party, to be honest seeing the way the party treaded Anthony Moise, when Ma Charle could not win her seat he always won his seat and was treaded like a nobody by Ma Charles and the Freedom Party, those who are calling themselves Labor today the Freedomites need to be ashame of themselve
