Dominica at number 4 on list of world’s most overlooked islands

Dominica has come in at number 4 on a list of the world’s 17 most overlooked islands compiled by CNN Travel, a feature of cnn.com.
“Not to be confused with the Dominican Republic, Dominica is the Caribbean island with the Champagne Reef.
Though it’s not champagne exactly; it’s an underwater geothermal spring with hot bubbles that make divers feel like they’re bathing in champagne,” CNN Travel writes.
“Not surprisingly, Champagne Reef has been ranked one of the world’s top — and most unusual — snorkeling sites.
Known as the Nature Island, Dominica is the destination to pick for those interested in a little more land life, like hiking. The island is lined with 300 miles of trails running through Morne Trois Pitons National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and along the Waitukubuli National Trail, past volcanoes, mud baths, waterfalls and wildlife,” the article states.
The other Caribbean islands on the list are Grenada at #2, Reunion Island at #5, Tobago at #7, Barbuda at #9, Guadeloupe at #11 and Bequia at #15.

    The way the Minister of Tourism was sharing this all over social media made me realise that he did not understand the report. The island is highly ranked as being overlooked by holiday makers because you are either doing something wrong or your marketing strategy is not working! It is not a badge of honour to be celebrated, but instead it is a shame which needs to be corrected. But again we are a nation that like to wear or shame like it is a badge of honour!

    Gosh, I thought it said ‘overcooked’. Wouldn’t have been surprised; after all, certain individuals do refer to it as the ‘nature island of the world’. But I think someone bought them an atlas, so all is good again now.

      Oh oh Daniel, I certainly hope the last word in your remark doesn’t go unnoticed and that continued efforts are made on sensitivity.

    The questions that us Dominicans should be asking are: “Why is Dominica STILL ‘overlooked’?”…… Why haven’t any of the present & past Governments put an end to this issue?…. “When will Dominica be no longer ‘overlooked’?”

    I wonder if they interviewed Aliereza Monfared when they published this article. I bet Monfared would tell them otherwise and convince them that there are many secret / hiding sports in Dominica that have not been discovered.

    These number games are meaningless. There are just mere opinions of some nonnative groups. Does any of these ratings ever improve the standard of living of the poor man or woman? Let’s not get overly excited about these frivolous accolades. Let’s become thrilled when policies work that lift people out of poverty.

        @Man caresses Dogs

        I don’t usually respond to unadulterated garbage. Your uncouth, grotesquely foolish words reflect exactly the pathetic animal you are. Have you ever seen anyone stone an empty mango tree? Only those with ripe succulent mangoes. Your diatribe towards me indicates that I am occupying space in your head rent free.
