Just months after receiving the the highest ranking award at the 17th Annual Woman of Great Esteem (WGE) Emerald Awards ceremony, Dominican Jean Joseph has received another prestigious award.
On November 3, 2013, Joseph was awarded “Woman of The Year” by The Thomas Jefferson Democratic Club the 58th anniversary dinner dance held the Elcaribe Country Club in Brooklyn, New York.
The Thomas Jefferson Club was founded in 1955 and was named in honor of the 3rd President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson, partly to recognize the people who have achieved recognition because of service rendered to the community.
In his introduction the Hon. Frank Seddio, the Kings County Leader ( the Boss), portrayed Jean Joseph as a light in the community, a right hand partner and councilor who never says no when it comes to helping the community.
In her acceptance speech, Joseph said, “I want to thank you all for having chosen my humble person for this award. May I say on my behalf that my soul is in the community, and that award belongs to the community that we all represent? I want to assure you all, that everything you are doing for our community, I will be with you every step of the way.”
Among dignitaries present at the ceremony were Dominica’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vince Henderson and consul general, Barbara Daley. Also present was the former consul general of Haiti, Felix Augustin.
Congrats Jean! You have always sought to help Dominica and your community in the US. Well done and well deserved!
