Dominican born Elvis “Papi” Edwards, Director of CBDxr, a US based cannabis and hemp industry participant, has been given the go ahead to export seeds outside of the United States.
This puts CBDxr and its parent company American Hemp Ventures (AMHV) ahead of the pack in a bid to become the preeminent seed-to-sale company for the entire Caribbean and the Western Hemisphere. In December 2018, Edward’s company AMHV along with CBDxr made history as being the first Caribbean controlled company to launch on the OTC ,over-the-counter, market where their shares can be publicly traded.
There has been public discussion in several Caribbean islands, including Dominica, on decriminalizing/ legalizing Cannabis in some form and harnessing the potential economic benefits of the hemp or marijuana industries. In 2015 Jamaica passed laws that decriminalized small amounts of marijuana for personal use and St. Lucian Prime Minister Allan Chastanet announced last week that his country will be decriminalizing Cannabis.
Speaking with DNO Edwards said he intends to give the first batch of completely 100% organic non-GMO seeds to Dominican farmers for free. He also indicated that this industry can employ as many as 20,000 farmers that can be drawn from local, the diaspora and immigrant populations in Dominica. He suggests such an industry could cause a wave of economic migration into Dominica looking to benefit from the commercial activity.
Edwards has indicated that he has met with key stakeholders to propose the benefits of the hemp and cannabis industry to Dominica. He has also made the suggestion that the Ross University facilities could be converted to a school for medical Marijuana, farming and Cannabis research.
Edwards, a proponent for the legalization and decriminalization of Cannabis, visited Dominica after Maria last year where he indicated that Dominica had the potential to be a leader in the Cannabis industry and, in so doing, revitalize the agricultural sector. He urged Dominica to “strike when the iron is hot” and “make the necessary moves early so that it does not have to play catch up later.”
Edwards, who is originally from the Wesley/Calibishie area, is a pioneer in providing cannabidiol based skin products in Colorado. He is also the inventor of the “vaprwear hoodies”.

Both hemp and its more controversial cousin, marijuana, are currently criminalized under the law in Dominica. However, hemp does not contain enough of the psycho active compound tetrahydrocannabinol (TCH) to get you “high”. Additionally, while both plants are within the Cannabis family they are two different species with different potential applications.
I will continue to say we must be careful when it comes to cannabis. It has it good but it is very harmful to the development of the mind of our children and we see now that cannabis is most consumed by our younger ones and the social effects of that as well. If our focus is for medicinal purposes, we must treat it as such, as any over the counter PRESCRIPTION drug. Also if Dominica plans to enter the market, we should be in the business of exports and not import.
Although I agree that yes it has an effect on the youth and yes it can obtained by the youth, requesting that it be an OTC drug brings such a “Big Pharma” vybe to it… Considering this is Dominica. In the first place, the thing was first made illegal for racist reasons by an active kuklux klan member AG Harry Enslinger in the 1930’s who justified his stance by claiming it was frequented by Black People (jazz musicians like Satch Mo etc.), Mexicans, Asians who he claimed gave it to white women to rape them and make them jump from tall buildings; a thing he got his friends in Hollywood to make a series of short films called ‘reefer madness’ showing how white women jumped from high buildings after the Blacks and Mexicans made them smoke it. Way to go AMHV and Mr Edwards! This is amazing for the Islands. I have always spent months a year with my family all around the Caribbean. Bringing Organic Hemp and allowing the farmers to use the seeds free for the first year on a trial basis is really cool.

Why provide the other countries wirh the seeds and not the product itself
Farmers can grow weed for the DA market, but once it becomes legal, weed will be as cheap as selling mangoes. Everybody who has an interest in weed will grow their own. This is a very hardy plant and it does not take much effort to grow it.
As far as hemp is concerned, forget it. There is no way on this green earth Dominica with its one or two acre farms can compete at any level with US or Canadian based mega farms that are highly mechanized.
Furthermore when it comes to marijuana industry the US as a country is well behind Canada. When you throw in Dominica in the mix, it is difficult to take this guys seriously. I am talking strictly as an investor.

I hope Da will do the right move and legalize it NOT decriminalized it. The second option will be a bad choice. It won t stop the traffic, won t protect consumer from bad product , and will not generate any revenue for the state. legalize it, sell distribution licence to two or three operator per pArishes, ask then to pay a yearly flat fees plus a commission on sale. Then the money collected can be use against illegal traffic or other drug like crack and coxcaine. And also for educational program for our kids. I believe that the only way to do it. I’m sure it will be great news when our white masters all decide to decriminalise and start growing and selling by the 100s of tonnes. We should have done that decades ago and be at the forefront of the use of both the medical and texture aspect. But as usual we wait for the white masters to do it, then we try to catch up. Like so many other opportunities in Dominica, no one is interested, they’ll wait till an outsider comes in, get jealous and then try to replicate.

All over the world, marijuana is being decriminalized. Why? Because of the economic benefits of the plants. The revenue obtained from the mass incarceration of black and brown men does not come close to what can be derived from the medicinal and recreational use on marijuana. My friend passed ok. N I know of others who took hemp as well and it never helped period.
It also depends on when they took it. You cannot try it on your last leg and expect it to miraculously save you. During early detection you have a much better fighting chance. I know of a lady who also died of cancer and took the oil. She was in much less pain. she was still somewhat active. She could tolerate food after chemo therapy because of the oil. Sadly, she started too late and her death was inevitable, but much less painful. So Sorryy, in my case i can never say the cannabis didnt help, even if my lady still died.
Sorrry it seems you need a bit of education. Someone suffering from cancer does not necessarily die of cancer but of complications from cancer which could affect any organ or part of the body. The autopsy doesnt say cancer but the direct cause of death. The death certificate will most likely say bla bla as a complication from whichever type of cancer. She could be poisoned, asphyxiated or die from many different issues associated or not associated to cancer. You folks do not read therefore you come here and embarrass yourselves. You hear something you jump in it then you die! Reading is life, get a life.

Clearly, you’re not well informed. Hemp and Marijuana aren’t he same thing. They are from the same family but works differently. If you do your research you will find that there are many medicinal properties of hemp.
Please educate yourself on the difference between Hemp and Marijuana. Hemp is being used for medicinal purposes throughout the Western world with very high sucess rates. How will that destroy Dominica? Do a bit of research prior to expressing yourself.

So one case of your friend cancels the benefits to many? Under whose direction was she medicating? You cant just go medicating yourself on your own. There are many types of cancers some more aggressive than others. There are some which will not respond to any meds especially if its late stage. Not everybody will be cured and treatment has to be controlled. Did you see her autopsy report? She could have died out of anything else too.
