The Dominica State College (DSC) will host the Spring Edition of its 13th Commencement Ceremony on Wednesday, 16th March, 2016 at the DSC Auditorium, Lower Campus in Stockfarm beginning at 3:30 p.m.
The DSC Board of Governors, President Dr. Donald C. Peters, Management, Faculty and community of learners will celebrate the accomplishments of a total 106 students. During this prestigious Commencement Exercise, the college will confer four (4) Baccalaureate degrees, ninety nine (99) associate degrees and three (3) certificates on students from a wide number of disciplines.
Dr. Donald Peters, President of the DSC, will deliver the customary charge to the Commencement Class while Honourable Peter Saint Jean is expected to give the feature address in his capacity as Minister for Education.
DSC is honoured to have one of its own, Dr. Hermancia Eugene (PhD) as the Commencement speaker for this ceremony. Dr Eugene is presently a Biology lecturer in the Natural Sciences Department at the Dominica State College. She obtained her PhD from the Pittsburgh University School of Medicine in 2012 where she studied Molecular Virology Microbiology. She graduated with honors, Cum Laude from Cameron University in 2005, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.
Pastor Maurice Morancie of the Dominica Seventh Day Adventist Church will set the tone by the ceremony by delivering the invocation.
Three students will receive special awards for obtaining the highest Comprehensive Grade Point Average (CGPA) within their majors. Having attained a CGPA of 3.5 and above, thirteen students from this Commencement Class will be specially recognized by been named to the DSC honor roll.
Congratulations to all those who are have reach that milestone, especially with all this negativity swirling around. Keep spreading your wings and reaching for the the stars. As you move on to pursue your goals in life, do not let where you are from determine your destination. Remember “kites flight not with the wind, but against it”, and finally that diamonds are pieces of coal made good under pressure.”
