The Caribbean Community is said to be supporting Dominica’s candidacy for the position of Director General of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit told an interview with DBS Radio that CARICOM support for Dr Carissa Etienne was confirmed at the heads meeting in St. Kitts last week.

“CAIRCOM has indicated that the entire memberships will provide support to her next year when the post becomes vacant. That’s an important signal of the solidarity of CARICOM to another sister nation to a particular request,” he said.

Dr. Etienne is currently PAHO’s Assistant Director-General for Health Systems and Services.

This will be a disaster!!! What is wrong with CARICOM??!! We have much better public health professionals in the Caribbean. Peter Figueroa, Leslie Ramsammy, Denzil Douglas would each be excellent leaders of this important Organization.
