Several of the Dominica’s stalwarts will be recognized tomorrow for their contribution to nation building when the Parade of Uniformed Groups takes place from 8 am at the National Sports Stadium.

This will be done as Dominica celebrates 33 years of Independence.

Arthur Massicot will receive an award for community development, in the Meritorious Award section.

Michael Murphy will also be awarded under that segment for Public Sector Management, Reverent Clair Mitchel for Pastoral Leadership, Oliver Sanderson for Community Development and Marvlyn Birmingham for Public Sector Management.

Admin, as correctly advised earlier the Sisserou Award of Honour is the second highest award. The Dominica Award of Honour is the highest award. Apparently it is not being conferred this year. Please refer to http://www.dominica.gov.dm for convincing clarifications.

Congratulations to all who won awards.

I am utterly disappointed that a top performer at CSEC JaRSMINE VIDAL was not awarded for the 10 ones she attained at the examination along with the other three students who achieved this academic milestone.

Can someone tell me what has Damien Dublin done to be given this award, what meaningful contribution can we be reminded of, his political appointment as chairman of public service commission and 11yrs as chairman cannot be the yard for such an award.

the selection commitee with responsibilities for the issuing of awards to Dominicans during the Independence Celebrations must review the nominations of these persons.
I congratulate Former Minister John Fabien,Mr. Raffoul,Bingsworth Casimir,MR. Greenaway,Miss Hazel, but some persons has never done a stroke of work for the country, apart from calling on the radio talk show, and are being given awards for that.

      @ ungrateful (?)

They do need to be investigated further prior to giving them awards. Awards are given to people who are worthy and who live exemplary lives as genuine models who could be emulated. Too often those who receive them (and this is worldwide) do not deserve them. The awards are turned into a farce and are worth absolutely nothing except for a name. So what else, eh?
