Major road project to begin in south east

road workA major multi-million dollar road project for the south east of the island is expected to commence soon, MP for the La Plaine Constituency, Petter Saint Jean has said.

The project is expected to cost the state in excess of $88-million to $90-million, he said.

“One major project we have now down for the La Plaine area, not just La Plaine but the south east of Dominica is works to be carried out on the Bois Diab, Pointe Milat Road,” he said.

He indicated that a contract has been issued to Jack Gardarkhan for the project and it is expected to being soon.

Saint Jean noted that the first phase will address critical parts of the road.

“The first phase costing some, EC$26-million, will address some segments on the road that are critical at this point…,” he explained.

Meantime he said other projects have been undertaken in the La Plaine Constituency.

“Very soon we will be having the opening of the brand new La Plaine Police station, it is a piece of work of art that all need to see” he noted. “We are also in the completion phase of the new education preschool facility … I think to my mind it is one of the better facilities on island, one of the most spacious on island.”

Mr Minister it’s about time and the improvement to the road is an OBLIGATION not a FAVOR; it took you that long en! Question, “were the streets of Vieille Case and St Joe among others more important”? Just make sure that the work is not done by Chinese or DLP cronies; “All shall EAT” that’s your slogan. If not ask those who did not vote for your party to stop paying V-A-T.

Jack Gardarkhan. Did I hear right? More and more contracts awarded to the most incompetent contractor. Did anyone forget the airport road fiasco, where the government almost wanted to take them to court for non performance and excessive delays, not to mention major issues paying truckers? Didn’t the gov’t essentially finish the job with the help of other contractors? This project will be another such fiasco. Not only that, how do you think Gardakhan really got the contract?

Our beloved PM is so cunning he smiles and lies. He is the Jesus Christ of Dominica and possibly the world. Whichever PM in the region could become so filthy rich while the people he serve have become so blatantly poor and dependent on him. Which politician with a supposed degree in English can hold on to the ministry of finance and keep padding lime an are but must hold on. Oh most high Skerrit you you are the Messiah not Jesus of Nazareth it is Skerrit of liareth. You the most high one can make the truth a lie and a lie the truth. You make racketeering a trip for holy communion at the hands of bishop Malass or even priest tomassss or sharpass.
Amen to god the father, gid the Skerrit and god the spirit

It is time for the people of Marigot and Wesley to demand their share of development. When the people of Salisbury made their move, immediately Skeritt went to Marigot and made promises of repairing their feeder roads, because he feared the people might follow the people of Salisbury. Now, he has put the people of Salisbury under heavy manners, as far as he is concerned, Marigot and Wesley can go visit Lucifer in hell. If the people of Wesley don’t begin to protest, for some of that $88 million that will be given to La Plaine, they will have to live with the salt water at the end of the Melville Hall air strip for a very long time. If the people of Marigot believe being fearful of Skeritt and his police will give them repaired feeder roads, they too, better prepare themselves for a lifetime of hope.

Mr. St. jean, why are you spouting off about roads when that is the domain of Hon. Ian Pinard? But tell us pls. will that work also include replacing the bridge at white river, which the previous govt. constructed and you have blocked? And how about that little link road between Rosalie and Petite Soufriere? I know there is a big rock in the way. Why don’t you tunnel through it and under it like they do in other countries or may be that is too obvious?

“It is a piece of work of art that all need to see”. Is Mr. Saint Jean really indicating that people should come and look at the beauty of a police station???? How rediculous.
Can someone really educate me on this matter.
Is there a very high crime rate in LaPlaine and the surrounding areas that necessitates the construction of a work of art police station??
Was it an absolute necessity to build this so called work of art police station??
Is this police station going to provide jobs and enhance the livelihoods of the citizens of LaPlaine??
A so called work of art police station was built in my village Colihaut during the early 1970’s and is now standing empty as an eyesore to the landscape for than 20 years.
It is about time that these politicians become more visionary and start undertaking projects that provide jobs to the citizens of Dominica to grow the economy.
“A primitive mind provides primitive results”

There is an old cliche that says, “It is the economy…

See when the people who have to educate the public or the people who claim to report news but only does it in a malicious way that will be the outcome, see some of the comments below me. Mal, you out of all people knows better but being wicked with your statement, the feeder roads are funded by the B.AM. association, so the project that is about to start was allocated for that in the house for awhile now. There were feeder roads done in Marigot and Wesley last year and a few more places, now it’s Salisbury turn but they were fooled into going to protest. Youth it seem like you hate the idea that they built a nice police station, had it been in the state it was before that would be one you could point to but because you can’t point to it in a bad way you pissed it seem.

This is the express rewards of being a staunch, loyal and dedicated Labour supporter. You cannot expect to criticize, vilify and defy the Government and then demand that they address your need first before their own. This is not common sense. Hence, Labourites continue to be proud of our Supreme Leader’s efforts to make life better for Dominicans. We just need “some people” to understand that they must wait for their turn to come. LabourOfLove for one, would certainly not put my enemies before my friends. Yet, knowing the compassion of our great Supreme Leader I am sure that, despite all their hatred and defiance, he will eventually address the needs of ALL the constituencies that were fooled by Uneducated Wicked People propaganda into voting against the greatest and most progressive Government that Dominica has ever seen. It is this Christ-like nature of our Supreme Leader, Dr. Roosevelt M. Skerrit, that makes him so revered and loved in our eyes. God bless our P.M.!

I strongly recommend that a new Public Works building to replace the 17 century Public Works building in Portsmouth. That building is just not in it. I realized the people of Portsmouth don’t like asking for anything than giving their votes and support to the Labour Party so i am recommending that on their behalf.

    • Titiwi
      June 21, 2015

Sorry bro but how can that be 17th. century when the British did not take over till the second half of the 18th. century. I’m sure Dr. Honeychurch can confirm that.

A police station in LA Plaine is a “work of art” that all need to see. Heey!!!! Are you kidding me. Si Peta can I bring my tourist to come see the work of art.
I am not criticizing the project but the foolishness and ignorance coming from Peta St Jean.

And no feeder road improvements for Salisbury. Apparently the P.M. does not take kindly to people, who do not vote for him. By the way, please mr. St. Jean it is Point Mulatre, as per the official Ordnance Survey map and not Pointe Milat.

…. and i think the word is ORDINANCE not ORDNANCE OK MR. SMARTY PANTS!!!!!!

BTW work has begun and was about to begin on major Feeder Roads in Salisbury so all the rioting was really an action in futility or should i say POLITICALLY MOTIVATED OR WAS IT A DEMONSTRATION OF THE HATRED FOR ROOSEVELT SKERRIT?????

Go Figure!!!!!!! BUNCH OF SICK PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

        June 20, 2015

        Joe, I was intrigued by your comment so I consulted the Oxford, dictionary and found there are two different but similar words;
Ordinance = an official order/official rite, so that word has a religious meaning
Ordnance = large guns mounted on wheels or U.S. military equipment or stores but there is also Ordnance Survey, an official survey organisation (in the U.K.) prepairing detailed maps of the country. So it would appear that Ordnance is the correct word in this case but if ordinance makes you feel better, be my guest, I don’t know everything either.
PS. I don’t hate Roosevelt Skerrit but I firmly believe he is not good for either the labour party or our country.
