Mero Enhancement Committee holds annual general meeting; selects new executive

The Mero Enhancement Committee (MEC) held its 2nd Annual General meeting in Mero on Sunday 18th September 2011 from 5:30p.m. in Mero.

The theme was “ Participation and Involvement: a must for community Development.”

Addresses came from  the President of the Layou Improvement Committee Mr. Lazare Charles, Mr. Kelver Darroux, and Parliamentary Representative.

Mr. Glenroy Toussaint delivered the feature address with focus  on  voluntarism and its importance in community development.
He reminded villagers that by volunteering ones time you help contribute to your own empowerment and that of your community. He  reminded the young persons in particular that  they  must give back to the community where they are and they will be considered part of the process of development.

Mr. Darroux informed the villagers hat soon the  Government will be rehabilitating the village road.

The Narrative and Audited financial report were presented and adopted by the General Membership.

The new executive elected for a two year period  2011-2013 is:

The Committee wishes to thank all those who have assisted  in one way or other towards the development of Mero and  call for their continued  support.

In the New Year  the Committee will focus on  working closely with the youth of the community 2. Enhancing Community Tourism 4. Cultural and Educational   Development and Fundraising for the construction of a Resource Centre.

    great job mero, keep the good work. mero has become the best and most beautiful village on the west coast.
