Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Roosevelt Skerrit, has encouraged farmers in Despor to form themselves into a group to improve agricultural production in the area.

Prime Minister Skerrit has pledged his support to the proposed new group and promised money towards the purchase of fertilizer that can be made available at a discounted price to the farmers of the area.

“I would encourage you to organize yourself in a farmers group. So that when I come back we can speak to a group rather than individuals and to see what kind of support we can provide to you to expand you agricultural produce; to make your way of life in agriculture much more productive. If you organize a group I am committing to giving you an amount of monies to purchase fertilizers. So that you can sell the fertilizer at a 60 percent discount to you here farmers here in Despor to make it much cheaper for you to purchase fertilizer at the quantity that you require,” Prime Minister Skerrit stated.

The Government of Dominica continues to keep its programme of agricultural incentives under review with a view of identifying ways in which it can be made more effective.

Meanwhile, the prime minister stated that his government is aiming to have the 85 percent of the island’s road network in good condition by of 2015 and 95 percent by the end of 2020.

He said the government will continue to have infrastructure development as a priority.

“When you look at the road in the country today and compare to ten fifteen years ago we have come a very long way in improving the infrastructure of this country,” he stated. We were criticized heavily by the opposition for spending money on infrastructure. But we have always said that for you to bring development to communities and to the country you must address the country’s infrastructure. You must fixe the roads and in places where there are no roads you must construct roads in order for people to access lands to build, invest and to cultivate those important lands.”

Improvements to the road network include; the Loubiere to Grand Bay road; Canefield to Pond Casse road; Roseau Valley roads; Pond Casse to Melville Hall road; Chinese Friendship Bridge, E O Leblanc Highway, St. Aroument back road; Lallay road in Grand Bay; Vieille Case to Penville Road; Soufriere to Scotts Head road; and the main road from Loubiere through Pointe Michel.

How can someone be both the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of a country? that is a conflict of interest the Prime Minister should never be in control of finances also that opens it up to corruption. It must be only in Dominica I have never heard of this kind of set up anywhere else. How come the people of Dominica are not questioning this? and are permitting him to be both?

The Melville Hall airport runway needs to be lengthened to allow the landing of jet aircrafts like 737’s Dominica needs direct jet service from the United States hubs. If need be the entire mountain at the west end of the runway should be leveled with explosives and the soil can be dumped into the Atlantic at the east end to lengthen the runway into the sea. That alone should add about 1000 feet a tunnel can go under the runway for auto traffic.

Folks, let us conduct our own survey here to see if Mr. is making sense or none. But before we get to do anything we need to bear in mind that the article identifies some communities where road improvements took place of which the Vieille-Case to Penville road was mentioned. Being from Vieille-case myself, I agree with him that the roads are better now than 10-15 years ago. But did the improvement help people to access lands to build, invest and to cultivate those important lands.” Hell no! In fact from 2000 -2014, when we voted Mr. Skerrit the facts on the ground will show the opposite. For example, the population of Vieille-Case has dropped by at list 50% as many villagers have run away. Not only that, but during that period, apart from houses Skerrit himself built, NOT ONE new building has been erected at Vieille- Case, my home town and the same is true with Penville and Thibaud. Also, no one has invested in anything and no one has cultivated anything! Employment has dropped, many houses have been left in isolation as persons have migrated. So yes, the roads have been built but I have not seen any improvements in Penville or Vieille- case and I don’t think it is any better in other communities that benefited from the road network. He sure has it wrong!

The residents of Campbell, Despor, Sylvina have become poorer, their standards of living have declined significantly due to the neglect of Agriculture. The youth of the area have been forgotten.

All over the country the Skerritt-led DLP Govt. is desperately using tax-payers money to fool people in believing he is so concerned now about their plights. Like Papa Nwel bearing gifts, dollars a-plenty, all in an effort to continue to FOOL Dominicans. How Long? Not Long !!!!!!!

Where were the projects during the 14 Years? Where, all of a sudden, money flying left, right and centre?.

Where are the two boats to transport the same farmers produce? You fooled them. Right?

While a few in Public Office have become rich, in quick time, not by working, but by dubious means, the despor and Campbell farmers,, house-wives, youths are catching hell.

Again, the trick of buying votes using the $$$$$$$$ and promises of projects here, there and everywhere, especially in areas where Skerritt knows DLP will lose.

How Long? Not Long !!! Skerritt’s DLP days are numbered. They fear being out of Govt for reasons most Dominicans know. Corruption is plaguing our Nature Isle. and retarding genuine development. Change is a must. How Long? Not Long !!!!

But what is wrong with that Skerrit nou? He sure needs help and maybe the help of a very good mental physician. Before any one buys into the lies of Mr. Skerrit, they need to check his constituency to get the real facts. He wants the farmers of Despor to form a group so he could assist them with monies to buy fertilizers etc. But folks, 5 years ago he told lies to the farmers of Penville, Vieille-case and Thibaud, his own constituency, and nothing has ever been done. In fact there is still an empty trailer sitting in Thibaud, that he sent down for fertilizer and it has been sitting by the public road now for 5 years. The same is true with Vieille case and Penville. In fact when Mr. Skerrit became the Parlrep, agriculture was one of the most thriving sectors in the Vieille case constituency and one would have to be lucky to find 15 farmers in the entire constituency. Skerrit killed everything! So don’t believe his lies folks

“When you look at the road in the country today and compare to ten fifteen years ago we have come a very long way in improving the infrastructure of this country,” he stated.” Mr. Skerrit seems to be suffering from Alzheimer Disease because he keeps forgetting everything these days. Sir, let me remind you that 10-15 ago, it was the DLP government that was in power and not the UWP. You sir have been part of this DLP regime and the past year, you someway fought your way to being the commander in chief. So please take the advise of the Apostle Paul here and stop comparing yourself against yourself, because that is a sign that you are not wise regardless of what the very unwise Evangelist tries to sell you. 2 Corin 10:12 but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

Don’t be fooled people, as soon as the general elections are over, if they win, the government will go back to sleep. Farmers of Despor ask yourselves, in fourteen years, how many time have you seen the Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skeritt in Despor. Approximately, two years ago, Minister Blackmoore told the farmers of Dominica, his Government is going to repair eighteen feeder roads, now we are hearing 2015. I hope I am not accused of being a plagiarist like they are accusing Mr. Linton, when I say, you can fool some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Skerrit you have no idea of how agriculture should be developed.
Let me give you some free consultation.
More people around the world are eating bananas now than ever before, there is a ready market, shipping is available every week, so why won’t you use your limited brain cells to figure out that if we put 1000 acres of land in banana production we can be back in business.
    How do we do that?
Oh boy you really limited in your thoughts and this is beyond Tony, Ghost, Cecil, Ambassador A, Jong, and the army of advisers you have bleeding Dominica.
How many acres of land are there in Castle Bruce? You get the farmers to invest the land into one big agricultural farm, you create a Company with investors and you run the farm as a business, with mechanization. The land owners become shareholders, you employ workers and you produce on a strictly commercial business. Castle Bruce already has an irrigation system. Let’s use this one as a pilot project and then identify 2 or 3 other estates to put back into production.
With that we can be selling bananas again.
If you want more details contact me but please stop that stupidness you talking and deliberately trying to fool the poor vulnerable people. Skerrit has no vision and where there is no vision the people perish.
Tonight I expect some real mepuis.
